Don’t have a kayak, no worries. We also have kayaks available for hire. We also have the most magnificent sunrises and sunsets here, with beautiful birdlife including hawks and water eagles. Great for bird watching and photography! All campsites have access to the water unless we are advised per booking. Less than 5km down the road you will find Wallaville where there is a great local Wallaville pub, and a corner store that offers great pizza. Telstra is available for communication, and we are also only 18km from Gin Gin and around 50km from Bundaberg. Campfires permitted in the designated areas only, bring your own fire pit when possible as we have a limited number of fire pits available. when fire restrictions/bans are not in place. Plenty of fallen timber around the place to collect for firewood. Rosgrow Farm, 15 minutes off the Bruce Highway, offers secluded campsites set on a large tidal creek. There are plenty of trees and shelter. The creek offers fishing, crabbing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, boating and swimming. Fire pits and picnic areas make the sites perfect for evening relaxation with bird life and jumping fish, talking about the day's fishing or eating the day's crab catch. Limited firewood is sometimes available. It can be bought at a reasonable price about 9km along the road towards Burrum Heads.. Campers must be self-contained with their own toilet and shower and need to remove their rubbish. Particularly suitable for RVs and caravans with own toilet. Well suited for overnight travelers passing between Maryborough and Bundaberg, or others needing a few days rest, fishing or water activities. Sandflies are a problem in this region anywhere near water, in the mornings until about 9am and in the evenings after about 3:30pm, so bring plenty of repellent and apply early and often. Sites are 30-40 metres apart with a maximum of 8 vehicles and their occupants in the whole property. No overcrowding! Pricing: Basic booking is for a vehicle with caravan, or an RV, and 2 people. Purchased in 1988 as a block of Bush, the majority of clearing was initially done with a small Massey Ferguson Te20 a long length of chain a shovel and chainsaw.Built originally with nothing more than the chainsaw, shovel, hammer and nails the log cabin that I still live in has undergone a few changes over the years but we have tried to keep it looking the same on the outside made mostly from large hardwood posts and paperbark slabs and half rounds for walls concrete floor with sunken lounge room. The hand built rock chimney is the feature piece of the front of the cabin so be sure to check it out and get a few pics.

Buxton Bush Retreat is a privately owned parcel of 17 acres located 7 kilometers (6 minute drive) from the quaint seaside village of Buxton. The front 5 acres is 'home' to Kerrie and Brian, their two puppies (Jazz and Jaxi) and two cats (Bangers and Mash). The remainder of the property (about 12 acres) comprises of flat, well grassed areas and natural bushland. There are eight(8) well maintained, large, flat camping areas and each has its own fire pit. An initial supply of firewood will be provided. There is no water or power throughout these camping areas, hence they are only suitable for "fully self contained" motor homes and caravans. Apart from humans, dogs and cats, the property is inhabited by kangaroos and a variety of birdlife. The small township of Buxton is home to a mixture of permanent residents and holiday homes. There is one general store which sells most consumables, including alcohol. They also serve up meals every Wednesday. Buxton has a great little boat ramp on the Isis River which provides easy access for river fishing or to the Coral Sea for ocean fishing. So, if you're looking for a clean, comfortable QUIET and relaxing campsite with not too many people around then Buxton Bush Retreat many be just the place for you. No 'midges' or sand flies or dirt/sand camping sites .... all sites are flat and fully grassed and maintained.

Chrissy and Duane were extremely hospitable and generous to my boyfriend and I on our one night stay on their farm. The land is beautiful and animals were so gentle. We had the opportunity to feed the highland cows and lambs, made a campfire amongst the beautiful scenery, and indulged in the gift shop too. I would highly recommend this site to families, couples, and single travellers. Anyone would be able to find beauty here and I am sure we will revisit again!

We had a fantastic time at gumtree dam highlands. Chrissy and Duane were so helpful and friendly, and great to have a chat with. The animals were so cute, and the farm itself was beautiful. The little shop is really handy for firewood and ice, as well as souvenirs and knick knacks. This is a great place to go to get away for a while, and well worth a drive!! I would go again any day of the week, 100/10

We loved our stay here. We had two caravans (15' and 21') and easily accessed a beautiful spot Jennifer picked out for us. It was right on the river with easy access to the water and a fire pit. It was very relaxing here. There were other campers in the property, but they were out of sight. We hired a kayak and a canoe and had a great time fishing and relaxing. It's a really lovely spot.

This property was everything we wanted and more. We spent a very busy week down SE QLD so we were looking for tranquility and that's what we got. The only campers there for our two night stay which is exactly what the doctor ordered. The tree swing was a bonus. The cows were very inquisitive licking our van and solar blanket but very cute to see many calves and plenty of wildlife. Beach was only a 5 min drive and the nearest pub only 15 mins. We will definitely be back in 2026. Thanks Camille for opening your property to us 🙏

Beautiful spot, great fishing. Caught cod, brim, grunter, some other unknown thing and a catty. Amenities there for your convenience big well maintained areas to camp. Wood $10 a bag. Hot shower, and lovely people. Midgees are and were terrible this time of year.... but thats most places with mangroves.....

I would say to avoid this site if you have a low clearance 2WD as we struggled a little bit to get out with our campervan. Overall we would stay again purely for the location 😊

We had a great time. Very private and a lovely place to while away the hours. Excellent directions and support from the host made this an ideal weekend get away. We will definitely look at returning. The site was huge and we had no problem manoeuvring our caravan into the spot. The dogs loved wandering on lead around the river edge. Thanks so much for having us. We really enjoyed the stay.

You'll feel safe & relaxed, it's a perfect place for solo campers, couples, families & groups. Highlights are definitely feeding and brushing the Highland Cows, and watching all the other farm animals. Not to forget beautiful sunrises & sunsets too. We had a very relaxing stay at Kolan River Retreat, from the time we arrived right through to unfortunately having to leave this spot. We met Peter at the gate and he gave us all the info we needed for our stay, Peter is a gentleman and keeps his property very well maintained. We selected our campsite and set up for 6 nights on a beautiful shaded grassy spot next to the river, we loved that we were able to wonder around our site bare feet on the grass. Being there through the week it felt as though we had the place to ourselves. The weather was quite warm while we were there but, there was a beautiful breeze blowing through that made our stay even more pleasant. Did I mention the big night sky…beautiful!
