Let’s be real, if you aren’t kayaking around Apostle Islands, you ain’t doing it right. The uniquely spectacular sea and ice caves (depending in the season) scattered throughout Mainland Unit are truly a sight to behold. Against dramatically carved-out caves boasting orange-red colors around the islands, the bright blue waters of Lake Superior pop like you’ve never seen before. The windswept beaches and cliffs that characterize the 21 islands and more than 12 miles of mainland within the park offer scenic views, with plenty of wooded area to explore and call home for a few days. Whether you want to paddle or hike, you will be overwhelmed with the epic beauty nestled in the park. This picturesque wilderness and island scenery is truly worth the trek.
