Once you discover the majestic flora and fauna of this state park you may never want to leave!
Leave the hubbub of Houston behind for Lake Raven in Huntsville, Texas. Fishing piers let you snag perch, crappie, catfish, and bass. If you'd rather go out on the water, paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks are welcome.
If you didn't bring your own boat, rental options are available. You can borrow fishing gear, too. The quiet of this 210-acre lake lull is sublime. You might just have to spend a week here.
Huntsville park has 21 miles of hiking trails through Sam Houston National Forest. If you want to explore them all, you should set aside a few days. A bird blind offers a place to watch for herons, cranes, ducks, geese, and egrets. Picnic areas throughout the park, so don't forget to pack a lunch for your daily excursion.
