We have been raising our family & Grassfed Angus Beef here since 1984.Our cabin is $20 per person per night, but we have a minimum of 2 persons per night.  This means that the fee for a single person is $40 per night, (a single person must make the reservation for 2 people).  During fall deer hunting season, there is a minimum of 3 persons per nite, or $60 per night. Our secluded one room rustic cabin is in a grove of trees looking over our 1/2 acre bluegill & bass pond.  It is well off the road in the Appalachian SE part of Ohio, and surrounded by the rolling hills of our grassfed cattle pasture.  We consider it rustic or primitive because there is a wooden outhouse & no electricity and no WiFi and poor cell service.  Expect to see chipmunks, squirrels, plenty of mice, and even deer.  After all, the cabin is in the woods surrounded by our cow pasture.  Please do not expect motel type conditions.  Please clean up after yourselves, just as you would do on a camping trip.  This is not a modern cabin with conveniences, it is a rough cabin in which you are camping out under a roof.  There is low pressure gravity flow running hot and cold water for shower and kitchen sink, but after freezing weather arrives in November, we have to shut off the water to avoid freezing pipes, and THERE WILL BE NO RUNNING WATER. Our farm is bordered by 5000 acres of The State of Ohio's mostly wooded Wolf Creek Wildlife Area open to public access.  Burr Oak State Park is 8 miles away, with boating, fishing, hiking and restaurant. The long distance Buckeye Trail passes through our farm. We frequently see deer, turkeys & over 120 species of birds on the farm. Nearby Chesterhill has Triple Nickle Restaurant offering our grassfed burgers & food from other local farmers.   McConnelsville is 11 miles away with restaurants, movies, grocery stores, etc. Fresh frozen grass-fed beef available for sale at our on-farm store. Steaks, roasts, ground beef, and other cuts. Also 13 kinds of Marjie's homemade jams & jellies & homemade apple sauce & apple butter.
What to expect
Cabin
You'll have this Hipcamp all to yourself.
8 guests max
Campfires allowed
Firepit, private. There is an outdoor brick fireplace for grilling and a firepit as well. Please do not burn metal, glass, etc
Toilet available
Pit toilet. This is an old fashioned outdoor wooden Appalachian outhouse. Bring your own TP.
Pets allowed
On leash. Yes, but absolutely no dogs allowed near the cattle. Also, since there is no electricity, we cannot use a vacuum cleaner, so please keep pets off of the couches in the cabin. In order to help keep our prices low, please clean up before you leave, and take all your metal & glass trash with you, just as you would do on a camping trip.
Showers available
Hot water , cold water only. There is hot and cold water in the shower & sink which is gravity flow (low pressure) from a cistern. Even though it is originally from our well and tap in our house, it has been stored in the cistern & is not potable. When freezing weather gets here in November, we have to shut off the water supply to avoid freezing pipes, and THERE WILL BE NO RUNNING WATER.
Cooking equipment present
Grill over firepit, stovetop or hot plate, cookware, cooking utensils, dishware, sink or other dishwashing station. We have propane heat & cooking, but no hot water & there is no electricity, and therefore no frig, fans or lights or air conditioning.
Picnic table present
1 indoor & 1 outdoor picnic table.
No potable water
Bring your own water. Most folks bring their own drinking water in jugs, but you can fill your jugs at our house from our tap. There is hot and cold running water in the shower & sink - gravity flow from a cistern & is not potable. After freezing weather arrives in November, we shut off the water in the cabin until April to prevent freezing pipes.
Pack it out
In order to help keep our prices low, please clean up before you leave, and take all your glass and metal trash with you, just as you would do on a camping trip. We will dispose of the Aluminum & compost (buckets available), and you can burn the burnables.
No wifi
No electricity, and very poor cell phone service. Better at top of the hill.
Laundry absent
Nearest Laundromat is 11 miles away in McConnelsville

The campsite offers a rustic experience with beautiful scenery and a peaceful atmosphere, appealing to those who enjoy off-grid living. Many visitors appreciate the quiet setting, which is complemented by features like a fishing pond and the opportunity to buy local produce. However, some reviews highlight issues with cleanliness, particularly regarding the bedding and outhouse facilities, which detract from the overall experience. The cabin’s location is remote, so guests should come well-prepared to maximize their stay.
