Location was gorgeous but a MAJOR issues.
(1) Host did not send a welcome message or instructions.
(2) The stays were all by names, not numbers at the site. With NO instructions, it was hard to figure out where my reservation was. It is also bear territory, and we did not come prepared with bear food storage…because no info from host.
(3) Host NEVER responded to my question and did not answer the phone when I called several times. The pizzeria onsite is a completely different business, so don’t expect a front desk or campsite staff - they tried to help me but no dice.
(4) Not even 100% sure if the site we stayed in was my reservation, but it was getting dark and we needed a place to stay. We just did our best to match maps between the Hipcamp app and the map we found on the website. We were lucky it wasn’t super busy, but we could have easily been staying in someone else’s reservation.
(5) Even more confusing was that I thought I booked a tent but based on what we matched between the maps, our spot was a small shed-like building with 2 bunk beds. It was stuffy and hot even into the evening, basically impossible to hang out in there during the day. I felt bad for our dogs!
Overall, terrible way to arrive!! Host still never responded to me even after our stay ended.
[The staff at the pizzeria (and the spot itself) was great and convenient but they’re not who I booked a reservation with! They shouldn’t have to field questions they can’t answer bc the host failed]

it is a lovely spot, well situated in the valley, right at the start of the community biking trails to Mazama, a short stroll to the river (which must have good fishing right there), not so far from Winthrop, tons of outdoor fun nearby. We might suggest that the owners consider the radical option of putting a cover over the restrooms, in case of rain (as it did for us!), and that if couples choose this option they consider bringing a big ol’ blow up mattress, as the cots are not what one would call . . . romantic! But they’d be good for kiddos!

The hosts were friendly and accommodating, but the 1/4-mile walk to the tent was too far. The "short walk" in the description is too ambiguous.

We liked the grounds and the cabin was comfortable. Only thing that we disliked was the lack of communication. We never got the welcome email due to the host misspelling my name, no biggie, except when we got there we couldn’t find it and tried messaging via hipcamp, texting, and calling multiple times and didn’t get a response for a little while. When we didn’t get a response via messaging on hipcamp we tried texting and calling the number listed, only to get a response via text telling us to call some other number. Called the other number and texted, before finally getting a response. We were tired from driving all day so it started our stay off pretty crappy, but once we got settled we very much enjoyed the actual place.

Site 15 - Tents at the Rolling huts
Everything was as described. We stayed in a bunkhouse, which has 2 bunk beds, one has a full on the bottom and a single on the top, and the second bunk has 2 single beds. Electric and water are available directly outside the bunkhouse, so bring an extension cord for any power/ light you want to run. It was a great option for us as it gets dark early this time of year. The location was easy to find, clean, close proximity to the town of Winthrop which was a really cute town. We went to the rocking horse bakery for coffee and pastries in the morning. If you go I recommend the cinnamon bun! A beautiful setting for a camp, and great location near North Cascades NP. The ride in to the park in the morning after a dusting of snow made for a gorgeous start to our day.

The site is perfect, convenient and beautiful location and has everything you need. I would have loved to have gotten more info before my stay though- had to text when I arrived to get my cabin name, as all I got was a number, and it would have been helpful to know how far you have to park from the tents (and have to shuttle food back and forth because there is no bear storage).

The bunkhouse was impeccably clean, as were the semi-outdoor shower/bathrooms. The surroundings were gorgeous. Plenty of privacy and comfort, as well as outdoor power access, which was a pleasant surprise!
One note I have is that while I appreciate that the bunks' gym mats are pretty hygienic and easy to clean, they're not enough cushion on their own. So my partner and I also used camping mattresses on top. However, the upholstery of the gym mats, paired with camping mattresses, generated an almost comical amount of noise with every movement, which made sleep difficult. Next time, we'll try laying a blanket down between mat and mattresses.

We had a great stay in a bunkhouse. Both the bunkhouse and bathroom were clean. We stayed up late stargazing on the peaceful property. A cute little bird was following me around the property. We loved the property and hope to return for another getaway.

We were really impressed how nice it was. It was hot .we had a nice picnic table to cook on . Bathrooms and showers were clean. I would definitely go back but probably when it’s not so hot.

The tents were perfect for our glamping getaway with our pups. They are very charming, nestled in a gorgeous setting surrounded by Mother Nature, complete with the sounds of the river and songbirds. They are equipped with cots, picnic table and a small porch which was the perfect for morning coffee. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. Highly recommend.
There were early summer mosquitoes, but easily solved with bug spray.

I really wanted to love this place, residually because the host was so nice, but it's so much style over substance. The tents are spaced very close together, the cots are terribly uncomfortable (I moved my sleeping pad to the wood floor), the door is closed with a cheap hook and eye, the carts you use to schlep your stuff are heavy, cumbersome, and the thin wheels are no good on the gravel, there are zero amenities, not even a light source in the tent or a small table...
I could go on. The host was very nice and very accessible though.

Pleasant stay. Each tent has its own outside light, power outlet and water.
When I booked I picked a site number but when we arrived all the tents have names and not numbers. Messaged host who was quick to respond and we were able to find the right tent.
Inside is very basic and you will need to bring your own bedding. Bathrooms were clean. It would have been nice to have a bench or table to set stuff on. The pizza place on site was very good.

Great stay! Love the creative way to use the land! Neighbors were very loud without any consideration to us trying to sleep, went on until midnight. Maybe a noise ordinance would help, like no outside of tent conversation past 10 pm? Otherwise we would definitely come again.

We had a lovely stay at this place! The tent was nice and spacious, and the bathrooms were all very clean and well maintained. The shop nearby had delicious breakfast sandwiches and baked goods. And the location is a convenient drive to beautiful hikes in the North Cascades. We would definitely come here again!

We had a lovely time. The tents were clean and sturdy. The facilities were well taken care of- but no roof over the toilets, so if it rains, you're out of luck. We watched the perseids from the volleyball pit and chased some of the grasshoppers. In the morning we watched the sunrise off of the Methow valley walls.

My partner and I stayed in Scarlet (site 13) and friends and dog stayed in Finn (site 12 or 14). We were there during a heat wave so didn’t get to use the campfire. The path to the tents was well lit and tent area too, but I would still bring a lantern for the inside of the tent or if you plan to hang out outside when it starts getting darker. The women’s restroom had 2 sinks with soap & hand sanitizer, 2 toilets, 2 showers and open air. It was really clean, didn’t smell, and it was cool to see the stars up above! Shower in the AM was warm, lots of hooks to keep your stuff off the ground. Potable and drinking water was available. Only bummer was the pizza restaurant onsite was unfortunately closed due to a funeral so we had to drive back into town for food. Cots were sturdy, plenty of wagons to help carry your stuff over. There’s a bear proof trash room and recycle bin, so I’d suggest bringing bear proof canisters for food or bring food back to your car. Short hike to the river was awesome too! A lot of bugs this time of year so covering up and repellent is essential. The tents aren’t completely sealed but we didn’t have issues with bugs inside, and 2 small screened windows for airflow are on the tents too. We only stayed 1 night, and only about half the tents were occupied, and everyone was respectful of rules and noise.

This was a great spot and we enjoyed the grounds. The mosquito/wasp population is healthy, so plan accordingly. Also be sure to check out the restaurant for great pizza and a large variety of imported beers. Perfect for our trip.

The site was easy to find, and the restaurant was convenient for our late arrival. The surrounding landscape and location itself was lovely and the kids really enjoyed playing at the campground. The tents were comfortable and warm.
Each tent has a lettered name, amd my booking was given a number which made finding the tent confusing. There were facilities by our site, but all of the toilets were overflowed and unusable by evening. The staff addressed it around 10 the next morning, but if you're looking for that convenience having kids at the grounds it's an issue I didn't want to be having. There were other restrooms on the other end but took a bit of walking. Had the restrooms not been out of order the entire night and there no confusion on where to go I'd have said it was a perfect stay.
The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and the other campers were polite and welcoming. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would still recommend it!
