I want to live here.

I was nervous to stay at a new location because I usually carefully read all the reviews. We took a chance and wow was it worth it! Kevin is kind and helpful, gave great directions and has provided us with our favorite hipcamp location to date. The location canât be beat for my family. The road up was a little rough but crews were out filling in the worst sections and it was considerably better after that. I probably wouldnât bring a regular RV or large trailer, but we pull a 10 foot trailer made for rougher terrain and it was fine. My kids cheered when we arrived and saw a beautiful creek flowing through the campsite and a large rock pile. Their favorite things! Our dog was also in heaven. There is a pergola with tables and solar lights, and a propane fire pit that made the evening time so cozy. The stars are beautiful and the river is basically a sound machine.
Please donât mess this one up, fellow hipcampers! We want to return for a full week next summer to check out more of the local hikes. We cleaned up some glass that I think was old, but everything else was clean and wonderful. Leave it better than you found it so Kevin will continue to share this piece of paradise.
Make sure you hike up the road to see the thousand year old Bristlecones mangled by the wind. We ran into some neighbors who told us a little history of both the mines and the trees in the area. Everyone we encountered was warm and waved, the construction guys working on the road even stopped to ask if they were bothering us (they werenât!). Can I live here? Tempted to keep this place a secret but I obviously just spilled my guts.

What a gem! We loved the location and all the amenities made it such an easy place to feel at home for the week. John, the host, is just about the nicest person we have ever met. Our daughter loved testing all the jelly made at the Vineyard and picking a few to take home. John took the time to show her what was growing in the garden and she could have spent hours asking him all sorts of questions! If there is some sort of Hipcamp host award, we nominate John. He obviously cares deeply about the guest experience and made sure to check in with us, and at the end asked if we had any suggestions (we couldnât even think of any). He built the furniture around the fire and a stocked workbench, and the trails around the property made for great exploring.
We brought a small camper (12 feet) and there was plenty of room. The moon rise was beautiful and the sky full of stars. Make time for a sunset at Weko Beach and we loved both Warren Dunes and Grand Mere State Park. We are tempted to keep this place a secret and will definitely be back!
