The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. The Painted Bunting and the Black-throated Sparrow almost always available for view here. Hill Terrace Cabins One and Three began their existence as Depression era Girls Scout cabins. Humans have been on the site and estimated 7,000 years now and there is strong sense of peace and continuity in the land and waters here. An historical marker on site relates a famous shoot-out between The Texas Rangers and the infamous Potter gang. The wells are shallow, spring fed, and sweet with limestone, so bring your favorite tea or coffee. And a hat! The river is flowing well, but burn bans may be in effect.

Leann's land is in a remote, beautiful part of Hill Country --we were the only people camping on the property so it was extra quiet and peaceful. My 9 year old roamed the property with his trusty map and felt like a true explorer. The campground is close to Garner State Park and about a half hour from Lost Maples.

2 nights at Grapevine Springs Retreat
I had a great time and was the only guest for the two days I was there so Wilson suggested I stay at the “Main” campsite. It had an awning, tables, and everything needed for cooking and entertaining. Wilson is a solid guy, we had a great chat and enjoyed a beer. I highly recommend this spot. I’m an avid HipCamper and this one has became my favorite. Can’t wait to share it with my misses and friends. P.S. the site had some great trails for exploring.

Had my son's boy scout patrol campout there this past weekend and had an amazing time. Wilson could not have been more hospitable and went above and beyond to make it a campout everyone would remember. He even guided us on a ~3 mile hike of the ranch and brought a friend with him to help the boys learn some new knots. The ranch is absolutely gorgeous and our campsite was perfect, nestled among a canopy of trees by a dry creekbed. Could not recommend this place any more, we will definitely be back.

Wilson is an awesome host! He met us at the entrance and lead us on the trail to our primitive campsite. The trail was a lot of fun and really added to the experience of being in the fall colored Texas hill country. Campsite was perfect with wraparound views. Also perfect for stargazing. We enjoyed our stay at Seco Ridge! The #1 secluded spot worked out well and was pretty private and quiet. We don't need all the common amenities provided but for those who do, its a nice option. There were a few times communication with the host was delayed, and while WiFi was available, the password was not posted. Otherwise, a great spot! Would definitely stay again!

Absolutely gorgeous area. I loved the ease of booking and getting to the campsite, and was very happy to see the chickens and a sweet cat when going to use the available restroom. Also was very pleased to see plenty of firewood at my site(since I chose the option to have it) thank you again! This was my second time here and I’m sure it won’t be the last :)

LAF Ranch felt like a little hidden gem of Texas. My wife and I ventured out here for a night. We had planned to go to Lost Maples to see the fall colors but decided not to go after seeing the beautiful bald cypress trees by the creek at LAF Ranch. The colors were stunning and the weather was beautiful, we had the whole Big Open campsite to ourselves so it felt like our own little oasis. Thanks to Fritz for providing access to such a wonderful location, and for being such a pleasant host! We’ll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Get Your Frio On
We had such a wonderful stay at Frio on the River! We ended up having the whole place to ourselves, which made it peaceful and relaxing. The property is well cared for, easy to access, and close to everything we needed. Garner State Park was just a short drive away, and there were gas stations and small shops nearby. Kelly was absolutely incredible! She was proactive with communication and sent helpful pictures since we were arriving late after dark. She stopped by in the morning to make sure we had everything we needed, and she was such a lovely person to talk to. She made us feel welcome right away. On our way out, we discovered we had a flat tire and she even offered to help and gave us great advice about where to go. Her kindness really stood out and made the stay even better! Even with a burn ban in effect, we were still able to cook using the small barbecue grill on site. The amenities were great — clean restroom facilities, hot showers, and thoughtful touches around the property. We loved spending time on the porch swing under the big tree, playing horseshoes and tetherball, and visiting the chickens. If you’re more of a cabin person, there are plenty on the property for big groups! There is some traffic noise from the nearby road, so sound-sensitive guests may want to know that, but it didn’t bother us at all. We would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in the area. Such a warm, welcoming, peaceful place!
