We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" slow, simple living can feel. We all have personal priorities, and those will vary greatly. But within that, we can all include ways of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our neighbors.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate our perspectives and some of our old-fashioned ways. Our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm. You can imagine, it has been a ton of work, sacrifice and expense to create a very special camp atmosphere. Any donation to show appreciation for its use, if even for a single night, is a valuable support to our efforts.

Access to downtown Charleston is 20 minutes away and Folly beach is a 30 to 45 minute drive. We have full hook ups in our second driveway available for rent. We live at the end of a cul-de-sac and a quiet neighborhood with great neighbors. We homeschool our three boys, but we will keep them quiet between 9 PM and 8 AM! There is not much room to have your awning extended. Also, make sure you have approx. 50 feet of water & sewer hose, as the electric and water are on one side, but the sewer service is in the other. Also, anything over 30' in length might be difficult to fit due to the incline of the driveway.

So peaceful and Sam the puppy is so cute. Their grandson was staying there for a time and my son loved being able to play with him. Will was also kind in humoring my kid when he asked lots of questions.

Liz's land met our needs for an affordable spot to park our camper while we explored the area. We spent most of our time at Hunting Island State Park and it was close enough for multiple trips there and back during our stay. We also enjoyed biking the Spanish Moss Trail. We had everything we needed at the site and Liz responded quickly to questions we had upon arrival. The permanent shelter is a nice addition. We did have trouble with mosquitos and other biting pests while there, so be prepared for that. As other reviews have stated, it is on a busy road and there is road noise, although you can't see the road. We knew that when choosing the site.

It is basically level - its so level that we didnt need to do anything, but if youre super, super picky, you will want to. The spot fit our class c and our truck. Very nice and gracious host who took great care before I arrived to set up my campsite so that it was free of leaves, sticks, or any debris that might otherwise result in having bumpy or uneven tent floor.
There were plenty of subtle soft solar paneled security lights hanging from trees or attached to outbuildings to ensure that campers could get their way around at night if they needed to make a bathroom run from the tent to the designated location.
The camping area was secure, safe, and had a charming atmosphere about it, and for the price, can't be beat. I'll make it a point to come again if I ever have occasion to camp in the area.

I had a wonderful stay and cannot recommend Heirloom Hamlet enough. The communication was great from the start, with Curt providing clear and helpful information well before I arrived.
Upon pulling in, I was met with genuine warmth and kindness. The hosts showed me around the property, helping me to feel right at home, and the amenities they provide went above and beyond my expectations.
The property itself is stunning, filled with artistic and creative touches that make the buildings and grounds feel truly unique. The natural setting was really lovely and peaceful. It was the perfect place for my morning walk with my coffee.
Location-wise, it was perfect for me; conveniently close to the highway, but tucked away enough to be quiet and restful. I’m so appreciative of the hospitality and hope to visit again in my travels.

I stayed in live oak side of the campground and it was incredible. There is a hiking trail across the marsh that is a must see. Highly recommend.

This is a good campground close to the beach and to Charleston. Not too expensive. However there are no true backcountry campsites, as they are all either pull in camping or it is a 4 minute walk to your campsite. The plants here are gorgeous though and the campground does have several hiking trails.
