The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at haunted tree farm. Quiet, open skies, private. The cabin is thoughtfully appointed to accommodate a number of needs, down to a coffee station for K cups, or drip coffee. Bring your favorite DvDs for fun movie nights, or pick from the stack inside the cabin! The fire pit was large and comfortable, the grill outdoors covered most of our cooking needs, and we found that there was plenty of seating, indoor or outdoor, to accommodate small to large groups. Encounters with wildlife or priceless, we definitely had a fantastic trip!

We had a great time at this place! Took us a minute to figure out how everything worked, but we were honestly impressed with the number of amenities on site. (The keg to heat up the shower water is ingenious btw!) This spot is clearly well cared for and you can tell that there have been many updates and improvements over the years. We had a lovely stay and even found some chanterelles in the woods nearby! (We made sure to avoid the game lands). Thank you for opening this little haven out to the public!

1 night at River Mountain Outdoors

Enjoyed a stay on Doug's land in the Frank Tiny House. Everything exactly as described and then some. Bed was super comfortable and little house was when stocked. Even had a mini fridge. Bathroom and shower house were clean and easy to find in the dark. Property offered secluded hikes and even had a map marked to see different trees and things. Loved the stay and would definitely do again for longer if in the area. Made an adorable little fury friend in the cat. He followed us around and even slept on the porch of the camp for part of the night!

2 nights at Sunset Shore Cabin on Private Lake

Sunset Shore Cabin had everything we needed for a great weekend trip. Everything was neat and clean. There were multiple towels and washcloths for use to use, and all the silverware/pots/utensils and supplies we would ever need. The lake is peaceful and quiet, and the inflatable boats and dock are in great shape. We even lit the tiki torches going down the path at night. We purchased wifi as well and it worked great, I would certainly love to stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Dancing Hen Farm

We stayed in the Beach Bus for one night after exploring Ricketts Glen, and our only regret is not staying longer! This place is truly incredible … such a great escape from city living & such a relaxing spot to stay after hiking. Kathleen & Don were great hosts - the bus is equipped with everything you need (and more) & they’re very accessible if anything else comes up. Definitely recommend!

Weekend Trip to Cabin Getaway

Andreas land is so peaceful. We brought our reactive dog and she loved being off leash. The state park is about 15 min away and had great trails. On the property and nearby there is absolutely no service. There is wifi at the state park but we had no service at the campsite and none until we got the park so download any GPS maps. The actual cabin is nice and has two small cots (a bit hard for my liking so bring an air mattress or mattress pad). They had a great grill, picnic tables and a nice outdoor shower. The shower and porta potties were super clean. Thanks again for the stay!

Beautiful surroundings, quiet, private, beautiful pond with the pink lilies in bloom. Host was very friendly and accommodating shuttling my belongings to the site. Fire ring stocked with firewood was very nice. No electricity without a warm shower was unfortunate as there was no sun to warm the solar shower that was available. Outhouse was clean.

Chris and Jackie work hard to provide you a comfortable stay. They are very responsive hosts the moment you arrive until the time you leave. PA state parks seem to have an aggressively enforced no alcohol policy. If you want to have cocktails while camping we suggest staying here.

Weekend Trip to Paper Mill Pines Glamping Getaway

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My boyfriend, Carlos, and I stayed at Pocono Pines Bed & Breakfast’s glamping site, and it exceeded every expectation we had. I’m not a camping girl, but after seeing photos online, I had to experience glamping! The site is even more beautiful in person! peaceful, magical, and surrounded by nature. Reminded me of the twilight movie! Donna was incredibly kind and accommodating, even when we decided at the last minute to bring our kids for the first night. When we arrived, Al and her daughter, Jess were already setting up our extra tent, helped transport our belongings with the 4x4, and made us feel completely at home. Every detail was thoughtfully planned; from the cozy décor and comfortable bed to the fire starters, extra blankets, guest binder, journal, bug spray, and even complimentary firewood. We stayed warm! You can truly tell this place was created with love and care! Our kids had the best time making s’mores, catching frogs, climbing trees, and being completely unplugged from electronics. One night, Carlos and I even slept under the stars by the campfire and it became one of the most romantic nights we’ve ever shared. Al, the cot was a great idea, ty! This wasn’t just a place to stay! It was an experience we’ll always remember. Thank you, Donna, Al, and Jess, for your incredible hospitality and for sharing your little slice of heaven with us. We’ll absolutely be back! ❤️

This is by far my favorite state park in PA. The Loyalsock Creek is beautiful and there are many swimming holes to visit. It is so peaceful to fall asleep to the sound of the creek at night. Hiking trails are excellent. Don't miss the hike up to Canyon Vista, which offers amazing views of the Endless Mountains. There are 2 camping loops, 1 with and 1 without electric hookups. Modern bathroom facilities are well maintained. Rustic cabins are available year round and are super cozy in the winter. Check out Forksville General Store and Restaurant, 5 minutes from the park in Forksville and say hi to Big Mike, a South Philadelphia transplant. The food there is great and there is a live dinner show some nights.
