There are signs at both entrances to the pull-through site; one is a blue sign with white lettering in a tree on the left side of the road (going north) and one is a brown sign with "Hartwoods" with reflectors on a tree (also on left side of the road going north). There is also a sign at the actual site. If you encounter a GATE, you have gone too far and must turn around.

There is a cement block fire pit with grill available for outdoor cooking and enjoyment. Please be responsible and use proper fire extinguishing techniques, utilizing the provided water hose. Firewood is BYO. Any smoking paraphernalia must be disposed of in a responsible manner, as should be all trash.
There are no bathroom facilities available. Please be aware that you will have to be self-contained, either in your RV or with a camp toilet. Thank you!

The meadow we occupy was once the farmers property that I grew up next to at my parents farm house.
When he wanted to sell his property he offered it to us for purchase at a fair price if we would not develop more than we needed to live here.
We maintained the meadow adjacent to our property and have kept it as an agricultural site.
We have had our son develop an edible forest garden and a unique diversified small orchard so we can eat and share healthy organic fruits and vegetables while helping our environment and wildlife and educating others to do the same.
It is expensive to live in Newtown but we love our property.
We want to teach others to grow food from their land while helping to support us keeping our adjacent property agricultural and undeveloped.
Our property has provided many happy gatherings and events and we love to share it with others.

Enjoy your stay next to our edible forest garden on the Edge of a beautiful meadow along side the orchard of berries, nuts and fruit trees. Various seasons will offer you an opportunity to pick your own breakfast in our maturing establishment. You can enjoy exploring, and examining our 7 year permacultuire food forest with chestnut seedlings already tall enough to climb , 10-foot hazels bearing buckets of nuts and a different selection of raspberries, blackberries, gooseberry, currents, golden berries, service berries and Mulberries. Enjoy a stroll through the meadow trail to breath in morning views and evening fireflies and stars. This camp area is very private but household amenities are not far away if desired. This site is much more private than Mickelberry Forest Garden Site and the beautiful mountain view is only a small step away. One mile away we offer nearby blue mark trails, mountain biking, lake and outdoor activities are at your fingertips and your hosts will be happy to provide any assistance needed to find or enjoy these opportunities. The Creamery (Ferris Acres) is one of the best farm ice cream shops in the East. We can provide breakfast upon request from our free range chickens on our kiwi lined deck with beautiful mountain views. Come and enjoy the croak of the bullfrog and the sound of the crickets. We are new and growing our amenities so at this time check the overview for available amenities but you can guarantee we won't disappoint. Absolutely loved camping at Blackburn Farm! The farm setting was lovely and pristine. We loved the farm animals and shaded spot by the barn. The site is equiped with everything you need including 30/50amp power, water, picnic table and fire pit. Feels secluded and quiet while being minutes from all the Mystic area has to offer. The host was beyond gracious and knowedgable, providing awesome recommendations for Mystic as well as the future legs of our trip. I highly recommend this stay and hope to return!

We’ve stayed here twice so far this year. Chris and Tiffany’s property is super close to Mystic restaurant and shops, and the Cross Sound Ferry. The camping spot is private, quiet and peaceful. It is next to the barn with the animals so you occasionally hear 🐑 🐐 🐓 but that’s to be expected on a farm. We are able to plug in and refill our water tank if needed. We will definitely be back!

We camped at Blackburn Farm for three nights. Water and electric hookup. It was excellent. A secluded spot but very close to Mystic Seaport, USS Nautilus Museum, and other sites. Chris was an excellent host and offered places to eat and things to see. He even provided a extra length of hose after I realized I didn't have a long enough to reach the water spicket. Can't recommend this spot enough. We will certainly recommend this to other friends and family. The only thing I would remind RVers about is the water hookup is approximately 40 feet away and the electric hookup is 15 amp, so not a enough to run your AC. However, we ran our fan and the site is nice and shady throughout most of the day, keeping the camper nice and cool.

Loved this site! A little tricky to navigate to, but quite fun that’s it’s hidden away in the woods with not a traffic sound to be heard.
The animals are so cute (fainting goats Marshmallow & Graham Cracker were a huge hit with the toddler), electric hookup is easy and potable water very nearby, and the hosts were so lovely, welcoming us and communicating promptly to make sure we were settled in alright. We got their recs for activities and food in the area, as well- would love to return to Mystic, and when we do, we’ll be staying here again!
