Wandering Pines Camping

97%
(77)
41mi from Coleman State Park · 18 sites · Tents, RVs · Whitefield, NH
WINTER CAMPING! We have 2 spots with electric and welcome winter campers in any compacity you dare :) Wandering Pines is a little slice of magic in the Great North Woods of New Hampshire. Our sites are large, private and offer field or wooded land. The sites are near our Small House on 5 acres but far enough away to feel private. We currently have 13 sites; 2 large campsites, 6 primitive walk in sites, 3 park and sleep sites and 2 RV camper sites. If our sites are booked, please message me. We have a ton of space and can accommodate you somewhere! During the warmer months(Late March-Early December) all the sites have access to water and a primitive outhouse and handwashing/dishwashing station. Some sites have access to electricity. Firewood can be purchased. Please check our extras for other items for purchase. We have wetlands and overgrown fields so there may be bugs and other animals at any given time. Bug spray is recommended. Although black bears are generally shy and usually avoid humans, they are opportunistic and will search for human food supplies when natural foods are not available. Maintaining a sustainable bear population in New Hampshire depends on minimizing human-bear conflicts. It is illegal to intentionally feed bears in New Hampshire. Intentional feeding can create problems within residential areas and can result in fines. It also may threaten the life of the bear, if it becomes a nuisance animal as a result of this feeding. Please keep your food in your car when you are not at the site and when you are sleeping. The property has views of Mount Martha and the Presidential Mountain Range. There are easy walking trails throughout the property. There is a field to play games; Soccer, wiffle ball, corn hole and yard croquet can be used. Just ask We are within 25 mins of Lancaster, Jefferson, Littleton, and Bethlehem. Small town bars, restaurants, breweries and one of a kind views of mountains, lakes, rivers and wildlife. There is hiking galore and more than enough to do for all ages.

For an even more immersive nature experience, The Orchard on Apple Hill road is ready for your tent or hammock, along with an outdoor kitchen, two hot showers and compost toilets, picnic tables and firepit, and propane cooking burners. The Orchard's solar kit can charge your equipment and boil a kettle for your hot morning cup. The Pond on The Hillside is open to guests for swimming or skating at the case may be. Firewood is included with all sites, so please don't travel with firewood as it's a great way to transport forest-devastating invasive insects. Hikers are welcome to wander along old logging roads through our sugarbush, and along trails throughout the remainder of the property (300+ ac. total) where there are numerous springs and creeks, mystical softwoods, expansive grassy fields, and a wild apple orchard. Moose, deer, and bear tracks are common, but animal encounters are not - still, please sequester your food accordingly and be mindful to carry out scraps or place them in lidded containers provided. Reach out to us to reserve a few precious hours in our wood-fired hot tub, rent snowshoes, or schedule a maple tour and tasting at our saphouse. Camp Streife

100%
(68)
41mi from Coleman State Park · 1 site · Tent · Rumford, ME
Streife translated from Norwegian means roam. The right to roam, also called the right of access, or everyman's right(“allemannsretten”) is a traditional right from ancient times, and since 1957 has also been a part of the Norwegian Outdoor Recreation Act. It ensures that everybody gets to experience nature, even on larger privately owned areas. In our travels to Norway, we learned of this law and loved the concept so much we brought it back with us to America. Yet we had no land to offer. So, we searched...and searched....and searched some more. Then we found what would become camp Streife. 20 acres of uncut timber growth forest, tucked in the hills of Rumford Maine. With a nearby brook, pond and within 20 minutes of some of our favorite ski locations it was just right. The rules of this law are simple. Be considerate and thoughtful. Don't damage nature and other surroundings. Leave the landscape as you would want to find it. Leave no trace. You may put up a tent, or sleep under the stars, for the night anywhere in the countryside, forests or mountains, as long as you keep at least 500 feet away from the nearest inhabited house or cabin. This rule of 500 feet distance also applies to camping cars and caravans. If you want to stay for more than two nights in the same place, you must ask the landowner's permission, except in the mountains or very remote areas. Well, we've taken care of all those Allemannsretten rules for you. We invite you to our small part of the world and encourage you to exercise your right to roam. Learn more about this land: Situated on 20 acres in the Woods of Rumford, ME come enjoy a forested campsite with access to nearby stream and pond. Fish, kayak, snowshoe, hike or just relax. 20 minutes from Sunday River Ski area, 25 Minutes from Black Mtn. Ski area and even closer to Rumford's White Cap Mtn. for nice backcountry ski lines. There is nearby access to the Androscoggin River, Grafton Notch State Park, and all the amenities that come with it. Come enjoy all that the Woods of Maine has to offer.

The best camping in Coleman State Park, NH guide

Overview

About

Talk about a diamond in the rough. New Hampshire’s aptly named Little Diamond Pond, tucked away in the remote north country, boasts some of the best trout fishing in the state. While this is the heart and soul of Coleman State Park—drawing fishermen young and old from across the region—many more flock here for excellent hunting and ATVing. And with a handful of new ATV-accessible campsites, why wouldn’t they? From here, riders have access to more than 1,000 miles of off-road-vehicle trails in Coos County, plus additional trails reserved for non-motorized pursuits such as hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. Even if you weren’t aware that Coleman State Park lies just 15 miles from the Canadian border, you’d be silly to think you were anywhere else.
