Located at the confluence of the Meramec River and Labarque Creek, my place (Matt's Place) is a ridge above a bottomland bowl of sorts. The old iron truss bridge here is likely built in 1910 and it has a survey marker from 1932. The creek has a nice little swimming hole, and a beach that is sometimes sand, sometimes, gravel, and sometimes a mix of both with some silt or even mud after a storm. It's peaceful down there to explore in the creek, wade while looking outward to an opening into the Meramec River. It's also fun to stand just at the mouth of the creek in the Meramec River. It's an awesome view upstream or downstream of tree lined banks, rock bluffs, and every now and then, passing boats, canoes, paddle boards, or kayaks. The old iron truss bridge hovers above the meeting of two waters. The water is cool and clean. Some fifty species of fish have been recorded in this creek, the most in all of Jefferson County and St Louis County. The bottomland has two levels, the lower bottoms down by the creek and the upper bottoms about a hundred feet from the creek. The upper bottoms has a clearing like a meadow with mowed grass. My favorite things to do here include gazing up at a cottonwood tree that must be sixty feet tall. It's leaves in a breeze are like a thousand hands waving hello. The bottomland meadow offers just enough sky to see bats dance in the dusk air between the trees, then fireflies as it gets darker yet. Up top is where I live. Just five miles off HWY 44 and HWY 109, at Eureka, MO, (30 minutes west of downtown St Louis, 18 minutes from Six Flags) this place sits on a ridge with great views above the Meramec River.

Grand Army Farm is a family owned working farm. We raise beautiful angora goats for fiber and have chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and meat goats. Jeff is a great host .. very quick to respond and gave us some great ideas for visiting St. Louis. The RV spot is exactly as described in the listing ..very private and secure. It did take a bit of back and forth to get our 26’ travel trailer backed in where we could reach the water, electric and sewer (on the opposite side) and still park our tow vehicle next to the camper. There is a nice picnic table and a lovely patch of grass and garden .. very convenient for traveling with a dog. As others have mentioned, this is an urban property right by a busy street so kind of noisy. During our stay, there were a lot of sirens and motorcycles during the night so definitely earplugs for light sleepers. Everything you could want to do in St. Louis is only 10 to 20 minutes from the property.

This location was great for a late summer trip. We stayed here mid September, and couldn't have had a better trip. The pool was still open, which was good when it reached 100°. We brought our own golf balls for the mini golf, and just didn't play hole 18, since it collects the balls. The pool was mostly empty, so almost like having a private pool. We used the basketball court and they had 2 balls available. They had 2 balls on the volleyball court as well. We didn't ride the paddle boats but that'll be for our next trip. I would definitely recommend if you've got kids. Plenty of things to do.

Weekend Trip to Hawks Bluff Farm Campground

I recently stayed at this Campground in a dispersed camping site. It was a hot few days that I was there and being able to camp in the trees where there was plenty of shade was a lifesaver. The road along the side of the campground leads down to a creek bottom. The creek allows for the opportunity of swimming on hot day. Lots of hiking available as well. The shower facility was excellent and the separate restrooms were clean.

We loved the peacefulness of Ryan's Hipcamp. He has chickens, pigs, and cows. We watched the sunrise and sunset without any obstructions. The farmers were beginning to harvest the corn crops all around us Ryan greeted us. made sure we got into our spot without any issues and offered us water and firewood.

Weekend Trip to Spring Lake Ranch

3rd time coming here, and another great trip in the books! We come with a group of friends and stay in the RV sites, and honestly, we don’t have much negative to say. Some of the sites are on the smaller side, but you can definitely make them work. Our site was listed with a 24’ max, but our 30’ camper fit with no issues. We did have to use an extension for the sewer connection, but it worked great nonetheless. They have a great lake with easy swimming access, and the whole place is quiet, relaxing, and a great spot to unwind. We’ll definitely be back!

The pool was great! The showers and bathrooms are at the pool so quite a long distance from the rv sites. Overall a nice site and within 20-30 minutes of some local wineries.

This was purchased by a local family. It's just as amazing as I remember. There's work to do but on labor day weekend 2026, it was the most and much needed relaxed weekend we had in awhile. They now have the RV sites opening up, prob about 20 to 30 campers as of now. I'm sure more are opening and for the price, you get an entire resort! Well be going back 💯 My brothers and I, my now wife, my brothers now wife all spent summers here for like 20 yrs, the new owners seem laid back and happy everyone is having a great time.

This spot was the perfect location for a cross county overnight stop over and recharge for our EV. Jeff was responsive and the entire process was easy. It's a good location and we felt very safe. Got to see the arch and went to a local brew pub, all within minutes.
