I moved here in 2016 from Atlanta, Georgia. I actually lived in an RV in a beautiful park for several years there. And, loved it! I thought I was going to do that here, but changed my mind when I found this sweet little house on a couple of acres. Deer visit us, and bunnies make their homes here. I have cats and dogs of my own.

Turn from Hwy. 56 can be tricky for big rigs because of a ditch at Jones Street. Left hand turn is easier than right hand turn.
You can use the parking lot across the street to help you back your rig into the campsite. We have permission from the owner to do that.
There is room for your boat, too. Pets are welcome. Close to grocery, bank, gas.
The White River is famous for its trout fishing. Deer hunting in the area, too. (Not on this property.)
The hookups are on the left side (right side if you back in). You may need extensions for your power and sewer. I have them available, if you don’t have your own.

Batesville Mountain Campground is about "getting away from it all" with nary another soul in sight. If you have qualms about being alone in the woods -- this is NOT the place!!
There are only four campsites on the entire property so you are always out of sight and hearing of any -- you can even upgrade for $10/night and have the entire property all to yourself! It is that special!! And absolutely jaw-dropping beautiful! Sparky, the stone mason who quarried, cut and stacked every rock on every trail within the campground, has created a wondrous place to come camp and explore. We are also now restoring Sparky's original homestead -- the one room Green Cabin is soon to be our new "romantic retreat" with outdoor kitchen and shower, chicken house, and two-hole traditional Swedish "utedass"–or privy. As to where to sleep ... well you may lay your head anywhere -- under the stars, atop a pinnacle, out in a field or sheltered in the woods by the river.
BUT this is "DIY" camping -- as we have day jobs we are unable to cater to your every whim and you will have to be able to "depend on yourself" to negotiate the campground, set up your campsite and secure needed resources. Thus if there is any concern or question you really should stay at one of our other properties either Camp Toasty or Pinnacle Springs Recreational Camp. PLEASE -- we don't want to be bothered with phone calls and text messages -- not here anyway.
Trails from Sparky's Cabin lead in all directions offer access to hiking, swimming, fishing and paddling. You'll find no better place to "forest bathe".

Our acreage adjoins the Buffalo National River Park boundaries and you can explore around the ridge. Buffalo Point is literally at the end of our street. You can hike an amazing trail called Indian Rockhouse - it's interesting and fun every season. Hikes along the Buffalo River Trail are minutes away, and outfitters are within walking distance - they can help you with rafting, kayaking, canoeing and even guided tours and fishing guides.

Buffalo River Hideaway, WE NOW HAVE COMMERCIAL PORTA-POTTY AT SITE. We have level gravel parking pads, less than a mile, as a crow flies, from the Buffalo National River. About 2 miles straight from the Gilbert access, perfectly situated for any river-play for the Middle Section of the River. In Gilbert, you can find “Buffalo Camping and Canoeing Outfitters” for all of your river floating/vessel rentals. Numerous local restaurants: Big Springs Trading, Ferguson’s, CrawBilly’s, or grab some smoked ham/bacon/cheese at Coursey’s. During the season and on weekends, one can usually find live music at some of these venues. No hookup services at this time. WATER ONSITE - -Commercial PORTA-POTTY ONSITE and serviced weekly. The site is very private and peaceful in the river-backwoods, where wildlife abounds. It will be your option whether to keep the gates open or closed during your stay. Please keep in mind the site is just off a county-maintained gravel/dust road. During the dry season, the road dust could affect certain persons with breathing issues. Also, there is, a very high concentration of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds flying about.
About a mile east of the double gates, is beautiful Red Bluff Overlook, Sand Hole river-access, and further down these many dirt-roads that parallel along the river, you can get to the North Maumee access point of the Buffalo National River. Hiking trails are found at Gilbert and Tyler Bend, intersecting with other trails that lead beyond and along the river. Swimming holes can be found at:; Gilbert gravel bar 2.5 miles, Grinder’s Ferry 7.7 miles, Shine Eye 7.8 miles, Tyler Bend 11 miles, Baker Ford 11 miles, and - 4WD or AWD vehicles are HIGHLY recommended to get to the river-swim-float accesses.. Don’t forget your fishing gear for the small-mouth bass at these swimming holes! Please familiarize yourself with fishing laws and fish limits, specifically for the Buffalo River. Branson is 66 miles away, and Springfield, Missouri, is 110 mi in distance. Host is always nearby/onsite. Inverter type generators are acceptable, and please take your trash upon departure. Please do not leave trash or cans in the fire pit. Firewood available. .

Arriving when it gets dark will mean you will be setting up in the dark unless you have brought lanterns. If you've booked a site, the gate will be open for you, but you will be on your own. The camp host from April 27 - July 1st is on call for guests needs, but is not on site. Checkout time is by Noon. Check in is at 2:00 pm. If you'd like to stay another night, you must reserve another night online.

We have sold our property and not sure what the new owners plans are, but I think it will be bigger and better, but for now, we are no longer booking sites. I have requested hipcamp to take down the website. Thanks to everyone who stayed, Wild Oaks is a boutique campground offering five easily accessible sites. Sites 1 and 2 are pull-through and have 20/30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer hookups. Sites 3, 4, and 5 are dry.
Surrounded by several outdoor attractions, such as the Buffalo National River and Ozark National Forest, it is a prime location for hiking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and relaxing.
Conveniently located on U.S. Hwy 65 one hour south of Branson, MO. Ten minutes to Buffalo National River access. Five minutes to local restaurants Big Springs Trading Company, Ferguson's, Ben's place and Craw Billy's, Haskell's gas station and Dollar General store. Buffalo camping and canoeing, Silver Hill canoer rentals just down the road if you want to experience the Buffalo River.

We had an amazing night camping! Was very easy to find with their directions and we were greeted and escorted to our campsite.
Most amazing views and sunset! We purchased firewood at booking and it was ready for us when we arrived. They have great amenities. Even a homemade blueberry muffin for breakfast! We are already talking about our next trip back!

The Buckeye was an excellent spot. No light pollution. Barely able to hear the occasional big truck in the distance. No cell signal to interrupt the peace. Nice trails around the property. One lead down to a tranquil little creek. It’s definitely on my “I need the woods” list of sites to revisit.

We loved staying site 3 at Wilson’s Clear Creek it is absolutely beautiful spring fed creek. Water is crystal clear the sound is calming. Nature all around several areas to stroll and relax. Owner very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back.

Just as described. Remote and peaceful, cows were a bonus. Owner was very kind. All the sites are perfect, had the whole place to ourselves so it was hard to choose, booked 5 but ended up moving to creekside at the very end, loved the big flat stones and swimming hole.

Weekend Trip to Buffalo River Hideaway
We absolutely loved our stay here!! Shay is an incredible host and human. We can’t say enough good things about her!
The site is spacious, clean, quiet, and a perfect little slice of heaven. It was close to the river and easy to get to after long days on the Buffalo. I would 1000% recommend staying here and we will be back ASAP!

We had a great time tent camping at Valley of Peace! Made a last minute booking and it far exceeded our expectations. Despite the holiday weekend, the spot next to us was empty so we had a great amount of privacy.
Loved walking a few steps to the creek to fish and watching the cows as we cooked breakfast!

The valley of peace is incredible. From the moment one drives in the world stops, time is lost, and nervous system is calm. Staying at site 6 was delight being right on the creek. The roaring water combined with the sites spaced out enough plays big part in having your own space and not hearing neighbor campers. Walter is friendly, warm, and welcoming. He stopped by several times throughout the trip to check in and ask if there’s anything I need. I will certainly be back

Valley of Peace is exactly that - a valley of peace. We came for a getaway, to unwind and find some rest. Boy did we find it! The stream was beautiful and the sounds were amazing to fall asleep to and wake up to every day. My kids were able to play up and down the creek bed. Such a fun adventure for them. Walter was a great host. He came by to check on us, made sure we had ice and firewood, but ultimately let us enjoy our quiet time as a family. It is off the beaten path if I’ve ever seen one, but one well worth it.

I have to admit I drove right by the space even though my GPS was spot on for the exact location.
But it was a very nice place to stay. Minimal leveling needed. The dogs and cows fascinated the grandkids as well as the multitude of fireflies. Easy full connections and shade.
If the opportunity should arise I would certainly stay again.

Pinnacle Springs campground is a hidden gem in Guy, Arkansas. The road getting down to the lower campground is pretty steep so a vehicle with either all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive would probably handle that better than a smaller front-wheel drive car. The campsites themselves are along the Cadron Creek and each have a picnic table, pole to hang your trash bag, and a fire pit. I was originally booked for campsite #7 but when I arrived a storm had caused a tree to block the entrance to my campsite. There was an alternative route but it involved driving through where another camper was staying and I didn't want to have to keep bothering them. I reached out to the owner, John, and the campground host, Jordan, who approved me relocating to campsite #9. Both were hospitable and friendly with the request. I stayed two nights. There were several porta potties available in the lower campground but we never looked in them so I can't speak to how clean they were but my friend used the one in the upper campground near the office and he said it was the cleanest porta potty he's ever been in and it smelled lemony fresh. Based off of that I'd be willing to bet the ones in the lower campground were just as clean. We enjoyed our stay. The scenery was very relaxing and the sound of the water running right next to the campsite made for a perfect camping weekend. I'll definitely book at this campground again. Thanks for a great stay!
