In the 1840's there was a trading post on the property known as Lick Skillet because the owner would set the pans out at night for the dogs to lick. Today, we call it Fanthorn Forest and it's our dream, our haven and our home. We love sharing our farm with others and allowing them the same experience of peace and tranquility we get from the land.Learn more about this land:Located only 50 miles SE of Kansas City, MO! We have woods and pasture with Settle's Ford Wildlife area (fishing and hiking available) 1/4 mile away. Camping is primitive with only an outhouse and no shower facilities. There are MANY thorn trees, so hikers must have proper footwear. Fire ring, wood and a grate for cooking are provided. Livestock encounters are also available with owners in attendance. All proceeds are put back in the farm to care for the animals and the land. RV's are allowed, but we do not have any hook ups available and they are not allowed in the woods. Parking area is at the end of the driveway for both cars and RV's. We love kids and will provide lawn darts or any other games we have available if requested. Ozark Adventures is a new park in the Lake of the Ozarks area, located on the west side of the lake. Our park is configured around privacy, space and integrating the camping experience with the natural forest setting. Our sites are at least 50 feet apart and provide plenty of trees and shade. Almost all of our sites are pull through, located between two roads coming down a hillside. You pull into your level site from one road and pull out onto another. All the roads are one way traffic so as to not force campers to negotiate steep uphill roads. Located adjacent to a well supplied supermarket for all your camping needs. We have a large community fire pit and games courts for playing lawn games, all lit up at night. In our modern camphouse we have beautiful showers and a brand new laundry facility for your convenience open 7am till 10pm daily. Our regular season is April - October, but in the winter we do offer long term stays with a minimum 28 day stay. Those are at $350 plus electric during the winter . We also have dry tent sites at $25 daily.
For attractions make sure to check out our trademark Patatay mountain bike/ hiking trail with challenging switchbacks, bridges and other attractions being added as you read this.
We also have a private, 3 acre lake on our property open for fishing for our guests. A brand new fishing pier makes it fun to enjoy peaceful fishing and fabulous sunsets on Hawk Lake.

Cottage was quaint and cozy and super clean; Hannah is an excellent communicator; thorough amenities throughout the property. Perfect getaway for the weekend! Highly recommend giving Cairn Cottage a stay if you’re in the neighborhood.

My fiancé, our dog, and I had the best time tent camping on Travis’s land. He was extremely welcoming, which made our stay that much better. Travis was also very communicative and his directions made finding the site easy as pie. We weren’t entirely sure what to expect as first time Hipcampers, but I don’t think we will ever tent at a state park again. It was so quiet and peaceful! Needless to say, the next time we make it down to the Ozarks, we will be tenting here again!!

I've tent camped at D'Ranch several times. Ted and Tracey are always the best! Chose a cabin this time. Perfect for my needs. Basic with no electric or running water. Port a john nearby. Great place to relax. Good place to see some wildlife.

Had a great experience at this campground! We originally reserved spot 12 but got upgraded to 13 (closer to the river) by the owner, due to not many campers being out there! It was a beautiful private spot. Appreciated the facilities and amenities and enjoyed the views immensely.

Very cute and supplied with everything we needed. I would definitely advise driving there in a truck or at least a vehicle that is not low profile because the road to get there is a little washed out in spots. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay!

I spent the day hiking the trails around Ha Ha Tonka State Park and wanted to find a campsite nearby. I am not a fan of large campgrounds that cater more to RVs - which is why I was searching Hip Camp for other options.
Diana’s place was exactly what i was looking for… a nice quiet place, off the beaten path. The bathroom was nice and the water was hot!

The campground was clean and in a quiet country setting. Steve was very nice and called us a few minutes after we arrived to if we had any questions. Definitely follow Steve's directions to get to the campsite. We made the mistake of following Google's directions on our way in. Didn't do that again! I would recommend this campground and we'll definitely stay there again in the future.
