Red Maple Campsite: A large luxury private site that includes potable water and electricity on site, designed for a maximum 10 guests with on-site parking space that is 90ft long and 20ft wide, for an RV or 6-8 cars and overflow parking for several more cars. It is designed to be backed into with an RV and then pulled out of. The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or/ contribute to it! :) This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out. There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :) *Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. We booked this cabin nestled on a vast, beautiful property, and it completely exceeded our expectations. The cabin itself was thoughtfully designed with a whimsical charm that made the entire stay feel magical and cozy. The surrounding land was incredible — expansive trails winding through untouched flora and fauna, leading to peaceful streams and giving the whole place the feel of a private national park. One of the highlights was being able to explore it all with our dog, which made the experience even more special. Our host was exceptionally gracious, communicative, and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. We truly felt fortunate to experience such a peaceful and unique getaway, and we’re already looking forward to returning again soon!

Weekend Trip to Bear Run Farms

We had a really great time! We lounged on the dock during the day, dipping in the lake when it got too hot and hung out by the fire pit at night. The land is beautiful and a few baby cows stopped by our site one morning! Amber was responsive to our needs and very friendly. Weekend Trip to Bear Run Farms

My husband, our dog, and I had a fantastic time at Amber’s property. It was really cool seeing the farm when driving in and the campsite with the cabin was very inviting. Amber popped in to check if we needed anything every once in a while which was great. We enjoyed being disconnected from the rest of the world as well. My absolute favorite part was not wanting to get out of bed in the morning because I was so cozy and wanted to sleep in. Then I popped my head up to look out the window and saw the cows. That got me up out of bed really quickly because it was so much fun to watch them while we sipped on our coffee. We recommend people stay here and we will be returning as well. I have lots of questions I didn’t ask last time because I was soaking it all in. Also, the cows.

1 night at Sassafras Hollow

We had a lovely time and would love to return. We stopped one night on the way and one night on the way home to break up our longer journey to western PA on our motorcycles. Directions and information were accurate and helpful. The family is very helpful at check in and with answering any other questions. It's an absolute oasis in the woods with a beautiful view of the valley. It's a great way to feel unplugged and relaxed while having all creatures comforts (hot shower, kitchen/grill, very comfy bed). After our first night's stay, we even made a point to get back early for our second night's stay to enjoy grilling, reading on the porch and relaxing listening to old records. My husband was inspired by all of the thoughtful, skillful wood working in the cabin. It's wonderful that this family are stewards of both the land and also the history of the property as they took the time to rehab the old cabin on the property. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay! It was nice and secluded. We loved cooking on the campfire grill/tripod. The electric blanket worked great on the cold nights. Pablo and Lorena were quick to respond with any questions or issues. They respected our privacy. We would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Hill House on Green Gate

Ken’s Hill House is a perfect getaway accommodation. The house is furnished very comfortably, tastefully with all the needed amenities including a very cozy and quality bed, well equipped kitchenette and small dining space. There are lots of places to sit and relax, read and enjoy the private and beautiful vista and rolling hills. There are easy walking trails around the property too. My only regret is that it was cold and I could not enjoy opening the large garage door and enjoy the fresh air. But, the fireplace kept me warm and the view was still great. I will definitely return in warmer weather to enjoy this open air and private Hill House.

My dog and I enjoyed a lovely early April retreat at the Love House. We had everything we needed for a relaxing and magical stay despite one very cold night. The electric blanket was a welcome amenity! While I did not get the pleasure of meeting Lorena, I did get the chance to chat with Pablo a few times. He is friendly, responsive to needs and had info about the area. It was clear that the comfort of guests is important to him. While they were close by and accessible, the cabin felt private and relaxing. The location is convenient to local recreation opportunities. I bet the nearby river is a treat in the warmer months.

1 night at Sunny Side Primitive Cabins

Doug calls these two cabins “primitive” and they are in the sense of being rustic and basic but not in their construction and definitely not in terms of the customer service he and his family offer. The cabin I stayed in was clean, dry, warm, and offered me the protection I needed when an early Spring ride on the GAP from the C&O turned unexpectedly wet and cold. If you are in the need of a simple superb cabin to rest, stay, recharge, escape, or whatever the reason-I highly recommend these cabins right off of the GAP and very close to Cumberland. Doug and family have an amazing history with this land, take pride in their stewardship, and it shows!

Maybe our favorite vacation in West virgina so far. We were celebrating our daughters 8th bday who passed in 2020 and we were greeted with the most amazing cake. The place was amazing and clean. Large pile of wood for a fire. The outdoor shower was hot and easy to use. A large grill and fire pit for cooking anything we needed. The house had cute decorations everywhere and we noticed more as the trip went on. A short trip to the river that we had to ourselves. Lots of outdoor seating for around the fire or just relaxing. Pablo and Lorena were so incredibly friendly and gave us good recommendations for the area. Very easy to talk to and were very responsive before and after we booked. The kayak trip was perfect. Made us feel like we were at home. Cute art and s'more bag gifts. Nothing bad to say about this place or the hosts.

2 nights at Riverdale Farm- River Glamping

Our weekend to unplug was perfect. There was WiFi so we could play music, then airplane mode. Sitting by the fire both nights with some music and just our conversations was amazing. We visited the butcher shop in the little town of Capon Bridge and bought the best steaks. Hiked a bit up the creek bed and explored a little. And the hot tub at the house was perfect and romantic. Such a great getaway location.

This place is magical. Pablo and Lorena are communicative, kind and generous hosts. You can feel the love they poured into this beautiful glass house. There are views of the surrounding nature from absolutely every angle, including above you! It's private and perfectly equipped with all the luxuries you need while still maintaining the connection to nature that you would get from camping. Hot outdoor shower and very clean outhouse are a bonus, for sure. I enjoyed cooking my meals outside and just sitting by the fire and reading after a long day of hiking in the nearby Cacapon State Park. Although I didn't have the opportunity to go, there are also kayaks available for a nearby trip down the river.

This is my second time at Abrams creek in two years. The amenities have improved over the last two years.Michael and Sara are super hosts and would love to return back when I can. Cozy cabin and ample space around the campfire to rest and relax. Michael is super informative about the amenities. Both of them greeted us with warm smile.Creek is accessible to all the cabins and the whole campgrounds seemed like winter wonderland.
