Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). Wild Yough property is to your right along the river and there is a great place for lying in the sun, doing some fishing, or just wading into the cool waters of the Yough on a hot summer day.Learn more about this land:The idea is simple- our glamping site will offer a true camping experience without all the hassles and fuss. Awesome location! Just me and my teenaged son and we absolutely loved it and will be back many times. The owners are very nice and accommodating. I'd be neglectful to not point out this one thing: although the cabin is spacious and the camping area is beautiful, the inside of the cabin is rather unkempt. If you're bringing a wife and/or young kids I'd advise you choose another cabin. It is the furthest cabin, so maybe it's not used much? I feel a little bad about that last part because the entire holiday weekend was fantastic.

My review is long, but very honest, please read:) My second stay at Bear Run Farm, and I can honestly say this wonderful place has become my favorite escape from the busy, hectic pace of life. Amber, the host, was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and hospitable. The cabin was cozy, spotless, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. And the blue lake… absolutely magical! 💙 The water is so clean, refreshing, and peaceful. I call it the Caribbean of West Virginia! 🌴🏞️ What makes Bear Run Farm truly special is the untouched, natural beauty surrounding it. Everywhere you look, there is lush greenery, beautiful trees, peaceful woods, and the feeling of being completely immersed in nature. It feels like a hidden paradise, far away from the noise and stress of everyday life. The peaceful landscape and fresh air make it the perfect place to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the beauty of nature. I’m already looking forward to coming back again! ❤️

Weekend Trip to Wild Yough Glamping Huts

We enjoyed our glamping experience! It was nice to have the cabin and running water / toilets near by… we enjoyed hiking all the trails, met a nice couple … when we comeback we won’t stay in the Stanley cabin because cars drove right by our window a few times each night and people were partying at the main building at 2am one night so our sleep was not good

A gem of a spot the watering hole was beautiful the kids enjoyed the water trampoline immensely, the property owners Amber & Larry were very accommodating and the whole farm camping experience was top notch would recommend camping here

We loved our stay! Our site was perfect for what we needed, especially having electricity. The property is beautiful, clean, quiet, and the views are stunning.
