Rocky Gap State Park Campground

Rocky Gap State Park spans 3,000 acres of rugged mountain terrain in western Maryland and is home to the scenic 243-acre Lake Habeeb. The park provides abundant opportunities for water recreation, including boating with electric motors, swimming on white sand beaches, and a variety of rental options such as paddle boats, kayaks, and canoes. Anglers are drawn to Lake Habeeb for its diverse fish population, including bass, trout, catfish, and sunfish species.

Numerous hiking trails wind throughout the park, such as the four-mile Lakeside Trail encircling the lake and the five-mile Evitt's Homesite Trail ascending Evitts Mountain through dense hemlock forests. The park also features a quarter-mile paved, accessible Touch of Nature Trail that leads to an ADA fishing dock, making it welcoming for visitors with disabilities.

Rocky Gap State Park's facilities include an amphitheater and concert stage with a seating capacity of 3,000, originally built as the home for a bluegrass festival. The adjacent Rocky Gap Casino Resort provides lodging, dining, and additional entertainment options. The park is managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, while the resort is privately operated.

The campground itself offers a large number of campsites, making it a popular spot for families, groups, and outdoor enthusiasts. The setting, framed by sheer cliffs and a mile-long gorge, offers scenic views and a tranquil environment for both relaxation and active recreation.
