The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or contribute to it! :) This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out. There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :) *Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable. Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. The Hill House sits atop 15 acres in an intimate setting with beautiful views of rolling hills and mountains. It features a full-glass garage door, allowing you to fully enjoy the landscape during your stay. This simple and comfortable space accommodates two individuals and serves as a quiet getaway with limited to no cell phone reception, Wi-Fi, or television. Loved my stay! Much needed nature and peace. The cabin has more amenities than I had anticipated which was nice but there were also a few surprises I really enjoyed that made the place super unique. It's really secluded, woods as far as you can see and super quiet. Lots of wildlife and plenty of hiking/outdoors activities available. Also the outhouse was clean and didn't stink which was a bonus.

Awesome location! Just me and my teenaged son and we absolutely loved it and will be back many times. The owners are very nice and accommodating. I'd be neglectful to not point out this one thing: although the cabin is spacious and the camping area is beautiful, the inside of the cabin is rather unkempt. If you're bringing a wife and/or young kids I'd advise you choose another cabin. It is the furthest cabin, so maybe it's not used much? I feel a little bad about that last part because the entire holiday weekend was fantastic.

Weekend Trip to Rocky Hollow Paradise LLC

Loved this cabin so much! The road going up to the cabin was no bad at all, definitely needed 4WD but no problems even after a rainstorm. We didn’t need to bring camp chairs for around the fire, or cooking equipment which was so nice! We explored at night and found a bunch of salamanders, toads, frogs, and flying squirrels!! We told Pansy we’d be arriving sroumd 8/9pm and tried to text her as we got closer but lost service. Luckily, she was patiently waiting for us at the gate when we arrived. If visiting definitely check out bear rocks in Dolly Sods. It’s about 25 minutes away from the cabin.

We booked both of Kara's sites with friends and had a great time. The cabin is so cozy and comfortable with everything you need. The outdoor shower was awesome! There was easy lake access and plenty of kayaks to take out on the water. The view was beautiful. Kara was a great host, with clear directions on how to get there and gave detailed information on what is available at the site. We would definitely camp there again!

This is by far the best Hipcamp experience we've had. Came out for my boyfriend's 21 and had an absolute ball. The cabin has the coolest decor to explore and the land is gorgeous. We went for hikes around the vast property, stargazed with the telescope, shot targets, and fished. There is no shortage of outdoor fun to be had here. Also visited the nearby Berkeley springs for dinner and a dip in the natural springs. The host was incredibly cool. Showed us around and was always fast to come help us with anything. You won't regret this stay

We stayed just overnight (a middle point between home and our final destination) but my husband and I both agreed that we would have loved to’ve stayed longer in this peaceful spot! We were mildly worried that it might be hot inside when we arrived (early evening) but it was perfect — and, as other reviewers have said, it made for really comfortable sleeping with the powerful fan and the breeze. We wish we’d had time to see the river. Maybe someday!

5 nights at Hill House on Green Gate

My best friend and I absolutely loved our stay here. We live about 12 hours apart now, so we were looking for somewhere roughly halfway between us where we could slow down, spend some much-needed time together, and not feel like either of us had made an enormous drive. This ended up being exactly what we needed. We usually tent camp, but for this trip we wanted to arrive somewhere without having to build our home for the week first. 😂 This gave us the best of both worlds: a cozy, peaceful place to settle in while still feeling tucked away in nature. The hosts were lovely and communication was wonderful. They showed us around, walked us through the composting toilet, and made sure we had everything we needed. The cooking appliances, refrigeration, and ceiling fan were all such appreciated amenities and made packing much easier. We spent time playing board games and working on craft projects, hiked in Shenandoah National Park, did a little antiquing, and still had plenty of time to simply enjoy the property and each other’s company. One of the absolute highlights was watching the lunar eclipse with virtually no light pollution. The sky was incredibly clear, and it became one of those moments we’ll remember for a long time. Between the view, the quiet, the thoughtful amenities, and how genuinely restful the stay felt, this place gave us exactly the time together we had been hoping for. We are already planning on coming back.

My review is long, but very honest, please read:) My second stay at Bear Run Farm, and I can honestly say this wonderful place has become my favorite escape from the busy, hectic pace of life. Amber, the host, was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and hospitable. The cabin was cozy, spotless, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. And the blue lake… absolutely magical! 💙 The water is so clean, refreshing, and peaceful. I call it the Caribbean of West Virginia! 🌴🏞️ What makes Bear Run Farm truly special is the untouched, natural beauty surrounding it. Everywhere you look, there is lush greenery, beautiful trees, peaceful woods, and the feeling of being completely immersed in nature. It feels like a hidden paradise, far away from the noise and stress of everyday life. The peaceful landscape and fresh air make it the perfect place to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the beauty of nature. I’m already looking forward to coming back again! ❤️
