Hi, I'm Curt. My wife Ani, son Fitch, and I are your average, everyday nonconformists who have been running an experiment. We are trying to figure out if a family can use their own hands and some grit to handcraft a life that you don't need a vacation from. Or better yet, that you would vacation to. Have we done that? Years ago we left our Miami handcrafted furniture business to pursue this new goal. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living that would find a harmony between some of the old fashioned world that we'd found ourselves missing, and the handful of modern advancements that were actually beneficial. All this, while keeping it classy ;-)
At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique cabins, using solar energy, and composting organics. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and in better harmony with nature. Ani and I are big believers in being mindful and respectful of our environment wherever reasonable.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" small living can feel. To be completely transparent, though, the creative inside us would also like to inspire onlookers. We've personally found it to be super fulfilling to distinguish our real desires and needs, from the ones we've been groomed to pursue. It's invigorating to then customize our path-less-traveled life. How cool it would be to have been a positive memory along another person's journey.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate some of our old-fashioned ways. but our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm.

Next to a small pond in a shady place (we are cleaning up from some storms, it may not be ready for camping however you can still explore on foot and fish)
An open grassy field next to the garden, this space has spickets to hook up for water and a regular outlet for electricity but not to run a camper.

You can drive right to this area. Very quiet and peaceful.
There are 2 spots by the pond, 2 spots in the grassy area and 1 under the oak tree. Water is available for all at the open grassy areas.

This is a cool camping spot with space for an RV of up to 48 ft. We have electric, water and sewer on site.The property is across for the Burton wells athletic and recreational complex, a 300 acre county park with baseball, soccer, football, basketball, fitness room, walking trails, biking, a dog park and a playground. Serenity Trails has two R.V spots for dry camping surrounded by pines with a trail that leads to the park. The property is located in a neighborhood off of Joe Frazier Rd, which is where the famous boxer, who was the first to defeat Muhammad Ali, grew up. The property is 10 minutes from Historic downtown Beaufort S.C., one hour from Historic Savannah GA, and one hour from Historic Charleston S.C. Your stay at Serenity Trails gives you access to the Greenhouse Tent Pavilion, a military style space with tables, chairs, a sofa sleeper, and a host of games for your enjoyment. Walk from the tent through the trail and follow the signs to a world of recreational activities at the BURTON WELLS PARK. COME ONE COME ALL!

Heather was very thorough in providing information prior to our arrival. The spot is located next to her home. It is a city property so expect road noise, neighbor noise etc. very convenient location for our weekend in Bluffton. Heather is kind and we appreciate her hospitality.

LOVE this place! Stayed here over a month and when I return, I will stay here again. Steven, the host, is responsive, respectful, friendly and a cool dude. His house is cute and has a unique charm to it. Location is prime to my yoga studio, grocery stores, the main city, and a dog park.

Curt and wife have really got the focus on what they enjoy. Back to nature. Building a property that they can really enjoy. The property really shows their background in furniture design and building. Loved the bath house/ toilet he built . The free range chickens and the solar panel areas were a great design feature. Curt clearly has a clear vision of what makes them happy. Good location from I 95.

Though I wasn’t able to meet Catherine in person, she was always available and very personable. The property is historic, and charming, with the biggest oak trees I’ve ever seen! We were provided with a fire ring, and ample firewood, and had an enjoyable stay. The dogs loved having room to roam, with a little bit of woods to explore.

Rick is a great host, with an amazing property. We really enjoyed camping there, the easy access, and the laid-back vibe. I highly recommend it for those visiting the Savannah area, who want to be a little further away from the city, and experience some real Southern charm. 5 stars, will stay with them again next time we’re in the area!
