The Neature Preserve (formerly known as "Tabby's Trees") consists of 74 acres made up mostly of pine forest situated in the coastal plain. A creek runs along the western boundary of the property with an ephemeral (seasonal) wetland to the southwest. The overstory of the forest is dominated by loblolly and slash pine with a few longleaf pine sprinkled in, as well as turkey oak, live oak, laurel oak, and sweetgum. We have ~1.5 miles of trails that wind through a variety of ecosystems (trails can hiked or biked). The property has three primitive camping sites. Two of the sites are for tent camping only (where you would park your car along the hiking trail and then follow a separate path to get to the campsite), with one site that has enough space to park multiple cars or small camper right at the campsite. The Neature Preserve is all about restoring native habitat! Prescribed fire is used at The Preserve to safely and efficiently restore and maintain productive ecosystems and to support our native plant and animal species. Claxton, our hometown, is a great friendly, small-town with grocery and hardware stores and restaurants. At this current date, they have four cabins and a yurt, as well as, tent sites. We are excited about the yurt that was completed in August 2019. Weekend Trip to Relax at The Horse Barn

Wonderful place to camp with the horses right there to interact with. The family is very friendly and helpful, good communication before and after arrival. The campsite is next to the barn and pasture so not a shaded spot, but beautiful property and the sunset was amazing. We will definitely stay again when in the area. The Hipcamp app has the location wrong on Maps but we got the address from Durand and got there in the end.

i am new to using this app for RV spots so i didnt know what to expect. She was a Great host who took us in last min on our way through from VT to FL. we were hot and exhausted from our travel and wished we could of visited more ! but we were glad to have a quiet safe place to stay and get some rest. she was wonderful, and kind . we have a school bus, our bus fit well, we had lots of shade, a flat spot and power. even though we didn't utilize it, she even had a bathroom and shower! her camping spots are also pet friendly we loved that! Make sure your GPS dose not take you the wrong way like mine did though. once we sorted out our technical difficulty's we found it easy.

We had such a wonderful stay at Rick’s campsite. The spot is set to the right of his home with a concrete pad so an easy set up. Our view from the door was fantastic — a wide-open field, and perfect for relaxing. The sunrise was beautiful. The entire area was clean, well kept, and clearly cared for. It felt safe and welcoming. We truly enjoyed our time there and would happily stay again. Thank you Rick for your hospitality.

Our stay at the alpaca farm was great! It was really peaceful with the pond right there. Our hosts told us all about the alpacas and donkeys, and we enjoyed playing some board games on the covered porch. We were worried about rain, but this was the perfect campsite for potential bad weather because of the large porch! We will definitely return!

We loved camping on Ricki’s property! We booked the field & pond site, which was very beautiful. It was a bit warm down by the water so we asked to move to higher ground between the large growth trees and the breeze & sunset was so nice from that spot. Ricki was so nice and accommodating, she brought us fresh eggs and homemade jam, which were both very delicious. We loved getting to walk around the property after our long drive and see the farm animals, including the newly born calf! This place was a magical little gem & we’ll definitely will be back when in the area again!

Clean site, quiet, power only 50 amp plug bring adapter if you have 30amp , water, sewer good.. must haul trash out with you. But not an issue. The cover and concrete pad was great. I had to back in from the main road with 26ft toy hauler fit fine with one sideout. Full rig is 43ft long.

We overall enjoyed our time! The spot was very secluded so that was a pro. We were able to walk over by the bathhouse to sit and fish. Only negative is that the picnic table was completely destroyed upon arrival and the river was low and kayaking wouldn’t have been possible if it was high either.

Weekend Trip to Pecan Orchard

We loved tent camping at the pond! Perfect for a nice quiet getaway. There's plenty of trees for a shady spot with a steel fire pit and some cleared brush behind the pond to pick out firewood. There's lots of wildlife and farm animals to see and plenty of space to walk. It was a great place to train our dog off leash as well. There are several dogs that live across the far side of the pond that were loud at times, but not too often. One of the funniest parts of the stay was hearing a loud "bloop" in the night when the local beaver jumped off the dock. Overall a serene and beautiful stay.
