Lizardsniffer is a working horse farm with a variety of rental cabins and RV slips. We DO allow tent camping. Each RV slip has water, septic, 50 amp service and Wifi. An Amenities Cabin is provided for use by all RV site guests. The cabin includes a full-sized washer/dryer, a full bathroom with bidet, and an oversized jacuzzi tub. Guests must sign-up for a 4-hour timeslot. The cabin is available for use between the hours of 8am-8pm. Many of our RV sites feature private fenced paddocks for people bringing their horses or dogs. Horse visitors require all current paperwork (Coggins, etc.). Dog visitors must be social and friendly and thus are allowed to explore the farm with their owners off-leash if desired. The property includes miles of trails for hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Bring your own horse or experienced riders may be able to ride one of ours (subject to weight/experience matching with a horse). There is a small private stocked lake open to all guests of Lizardsniffer for fishing and swimming. The firepit can hold a massive fire and I would definitely recommend buying some firewood from Debbie as it is perfectly seasoned and burns great. We really appreciated having the gas grill/charcoal combo grill on site to cook dinners on and there is plenty of space to play some yard games (cornhole, frisbee etc). We will absolutely come back!"

FREE FIREWOOD FOR LIMITED TIME: I have more split oak firewood than I know what to do with. While it lasts, campers can take as much as they need for free. The wood is piled at the site. Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog. We also have a small orchard and a garden. Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails. As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives. We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.

It is a small space with nothing but outlets and a small refrigerator. You will need to bring all of your essentials. Pillows/Sheets/Linens/towels are not provided. The bath house is steps away. You will need towels/rags/soap/toilet paper and all essentials. It is merely a toilet, sink, and shower. There is a Weber charcoal grill available on site. Bring your essentials. You will need to bring your own firewood.. The driveway to the site is marked with the 1755 address sign on Davids Home Church rd. If you are driving N/NW on David's Home Church Rd, it is exactly 2 miles on the right from where you turned onto the road. If you are traveling E/SE on David's Home Church Rd, it is exactly 1.7 miles on the left from where you turned onto David's Home Church Rd. The gate will be closed, please close the gate back when you leave. Please take advantage of the Broad River outpost to rent kayaks/canoes/tubes. Also The Sandbar is located minutes away and they also provide rentals as well as zip lining. Royston has a grocery store and fast food.

Mike and Kelly were responsive and super easy to work with. I stayed at the far out site, which is worth the short hike to have a spot on the river. Some of the best sleep I’ve ever had camping… I think the sound of the river helped. Felt like I had the whole place to myself. Looking forward to staying here again when I get the chance.

Nice little spot tucked away on the back side of town. Perfect getaway for a day or two. Right on the river so bring your fishing pole. I went during spring break so that evening was a little noisy but not too bad. Enjoyed staying here.

We met one of the hosts, Mike, as soon as we arrived. He was incredibly welcoming and even helped us carry our gear down to the campsite. The location by the river was beautiful. It had all the allure of backpacking into a remote site without any of the effort. I'd recommend this spot to anyone looking for an easy but authentic outdoor experience

I really enjoyed this spot by the river! The perfect amount of space for our tent, a campfire, a charcoal grill, and a small SUV. One site could easily fit 2 more tents and maybe 2-3 cars. We absolutely loved being right on the river. Casted the fly rod most of the time, but I think it was too early in the season for trout. Still, my husband and I plan to come back! The campsites are all spaced out nicely—2 are directly on the river: one behind where we stayed, and another to the right. You could easily have a bunch of friends and family all stay together if you booked them together. Also, those 3 sites share a well-kept outhouse. Fortunately, we were the only ones there at the time, so we got to explore the river’s edge and check out the other sites. Can’t wait to book again!

Don and Stephanie are amazing hosts. Kept up with updates and were there to answer any questions we had. The site was all set up when we arrived, even fresh flowers on the picnic table. Such a great way to feel invited and welcome. Having the option to pay for ready to go firewood was also a wonderful experience. We have a family of six, 2 under 5 and this was very helpful. You can see Don and Stephanie take care of the camping area, it was very clean and even had a grate for cooking on fire. They also provided shovel and sand to put it out. Definitely made things easier and more relaxing to take in the nature around. We hope to visit Don and Stephanie's place soon.
