Had an amazing stay at Broad River Retreat! The view is absolutely amazing, and Jean was incredibly responsive and accommodating throughout the trip. I was even allowed me to check in 2 hours early, which was greatly appreciated. Having a bathroom with hot water was such an amazing touch and made the stay even more comfortable. I would definitely return again soon and highly recommend staying here!

We did tent camp here with the kids and doggies. We used the shack to cool off when it got pretty hot or for a nap lol. Having the bathhouse is a huge perk!! The only thing I would add for knowledge is going down to the river is pretty steep downhill walk to be prepared to walk back up 😂. It was a great and beautiful weekend

Broad River Retreat
Got stuck in Atlanta traffic on our way up so we were unable to set up our tent. It was so nice to have the bunkhouse with a forced air ac system when we got back from our event. We loved having a full bathroom and the views (and sounds) were incredible. We enjoyed our short time there immensely. Highly recommend. *Apple Maps had trouble with directions so maybe try a different navigation

Best hip camp I’ve ever stayed at! Great site situated overlooking the Broad river. I’d call this glamping with everything the have at the site for you! So easy and convenient with the fire pit and bathroom! Feels like you’re secluded in the mountains. Highly recommended! Will most definitely be back!

Broad River Retreat
My wife and I desperately needed a day or two away to rest and recharge and the broad River Retreat fit the bill perfectly! Beautiful and very well maintained and a great place to take our old dogs as well. Jean was a fantastic host. We'll certainly be coming back.

We loved this place it was very peaceful and private. We enjoyed campfires with the beautiful river view. Just what we needed for a trip away from city life. The indoor room was a bonus when it rained. Would love to come back in the future.

Consistently well cared for for years, Broad River Retreat is always a solid choice with an unparalleled view. The road in is gravel, slightly hilly, but well tended and any passenger vehicle should have no trouble there. Jean is an attentive host but never intrudes on your privacy. You have the six acres all to yourself and don’t see neighbors while you are there. It’s our perfect definition of what enjoying the outdoors should be and has comforts to boot. And the broken glass doors at the shelter that another reviewer mentioned have been repaired, so if you use the shelter, you have perfect views out the many sets of glass doors.

Broad River Retreat
This was a beautiful spot to camp, my family loved it. The tiny house/shed was perfect to add some comfort- it made camping with 2 young kids easier and more enjoyable(the heater came in handy at night). We'll definitely book again in the summer to fully enjoy the river!

Great campsite with an awesome view! We were able to setup two big tents with plenty of room for everyone. Right after we setup an unexpected hail storm struck and we were glad to have the shelter to ride it out in. The shelter has a mini fridge, A/C, and an electric fireplace. Power, water, and the hot shower were nice luxuries. The walk down to the river was very easy.

The views were gorgeous! Having the options of tent camping, RV camping, & the bunkhouse makes it perfect for a group with variable accommodations. The privacy vs a regular campground, made it even better! We definitely plan to return with a group next year.

My wife and I loved our camping experience here! It was very private with picturesque views of the river. We never wanted to leave. The small cabin and bathroom were wonderful luxeries. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

Plenty of room for activities. We loved that there was a path to the river. My 4 year old niece was able to walk the incline. We had a great time!

The bathroom + bunk room was great for making the camping experience easier. The tent areas were easily flat enough to sleep on comfortably, and the fire pit was very conducive to group conversations.
The river is about a 2 minute walk up and down a steep hill, but was a blast to play in!

Broad River Retreat
The property was easy to find, and the site can be accessed with pretty much any vehicle even if it's a little hilly. The site is well maintained, and has an amazing view of the Broad River. Completely isolated, this is a great campsite for those that value privacy heavily. While we tent camped for most of our stay, the air conditioned shack was very welcome during the hottest times of the day. The site has amazing tree coverage, so with the exception of a 3-4 time frame, it is well shaded and cool. Highly recommend camping here.

Our family had an amazing time staying here! The A/C in the shed was a lifesaver. The views are breathtaking and the grounds are well maintained. The hike down to the water is steep, getting back up is a workout - but worth it!

Nice and very private. You drive about 1/2 mile down a dirt/gravel road to get to the site. The area was clean and looks exactly like the pictures you see on Hipcamp. The shower, toilet and sink were nice to have. The AC worked well in the bunkhouse as did the small dorm size fridge. Two sides of the French doors were shattered when I arrived but didn’t bother me bc I never opened those doors.
The river is not really close to the site, it is probably 50-75 yards down a steep, overgrown hillside to get to the river. You can see where people have walked down but it’s not an actual trail. Especially in the summer with all of the foliage grown in. So just keep that in mind.
I would recommend for the privacy and cleanliness.

The view is phenomenal! It was easy to find and easy to access via a gravel drive. Just the right amount of amenities to make those rainy days bearable. AC in the building was a life saver and worked great! Very easy 15 minute drive to a Food Lion in Royston if you need any last minute finds.

We just finished the best weekend! This was our first time camping as a family with a 7 year old and a 3 year old. The campsite is absolutely perfect. The location can’t be beat. Perched on the hill you have an amazing view of the river. We enjoyed watching turtles sunbathe and kayakers float on by. We made the trek down and climbed on rocks and waited in the water. The weather was in and out storming so we were able to hunker down in the shelter. It was cool and crisp from the air conditioning and in the morning you can watch the sunrise over the river! So nice to have private bathrooms, well appointed fire pit, charcoal grill, picnic table, and on top of all that to feel completely private! Great host and great space! Book now don’t keep looking!

We had a great experience at Broad River camp. The site was clean, spacious, and has amazing opportunities for birding!!! We had three tents and every one had ample space to feel secluded and still hear the river. The amenities were all very clean. View of the river is nice. Bring binoculars to do some wildlife watching. The only unfortunate occurrence was that every night we stayed starting around 11pm, a dog could be heard barking incessantly for hours. Obviously the host can’t do anything about this, so bring ear plugs or headphones if this would bother you. We would definitely book here again and appreciate the hosts creating such a beautiful space!

We loved staying on Jean’s property. We had a popup camper and a large tent. Our kids had an absolute blast just running around and exploring. We brought our two dogs who loved being able to be off leash and chill. It rained a good bit while we were there so it was nice to have the bunk building, too.

The view of Broad River blew my mind! So scenic, peaceful and very private.
Gorgeous sunrise views over the river.
Unit was perfect, loved the AC and power. Hot water shower was available which was great after a day of kayaking on the river.
My pup Obie San enjoyed the freedom...
This was the perfect weekend getaway for me. I can't wait to go back again!

Jean’s place was probably the best camp site I’ve ever had. You really can’t beat a bunk house and personal bathroom when you have kids. Kids loved exploring the nearby wilderness and playing in the river. Jean was responsive and extra accommodating. We hope to visit again real soon.

This place was fantastic! Hot showers, and cool indoor spaces for the hottest hours of the day. We had a great time just sitting around and looking down at the river. The dogs had a great time too! I would definitely recommend this spot. Whether you want to rough it in a tent, or just sleep in the bunk-room, this place has you covered.

Great place to camp with a great view. We brought our dogs and they loved roaming around all weekend off-leash. The heated bathroom was a luxury we usually don’t have.
We made a day trip over to Watson Mill State Park and enjoyed that as well.
