Running Water Creek is a unique, fully off grid campground just 20 minutes to downtown Chattanooga. We have 80+ campsites spread out over 120 acres. Most of the roads are accessible in any small car, but some roads require 4x4 (they're marked with a sign). We have a bath house with toilets, showers, and sinks and even offer hot water! Our well and cabins are all solar-powered as we are not on the electric grid. Some info about the property: -we DO NOT have water or power hookups -we have gravel roads with a 5 MPH speed limit on the property (if you drive too fast the roads will seem rough) -we are right next to a highway and train tracks so there will be some noise (some days are better than others and we have no way of predicting how many trains will/will not go by) -none of our campsites have picnic tables (please plan accordingly) -most campsites have fire rings built, but if you choose a site without one you need to build your own

Come join us at this unforgettable camping spot at Historic Castleberry Bridge where the Gold Rush happened, the Indian fish trap still exist, the birth place of Denver Colorado and the hideout of Jesse James just some of the history that happened at your campsite on the Etowah River. Our motto is "Thanks for keeping it clean," so help us spread the word and keep it true! Look for the gate at Castleberry Bridge Rd (right where the bridge crosses the river) and drive through the gate and left and George (owner) should be there. He will open the second gate for you where you will be able to drive through and park at your site - weather permitting. To the left of the first gate is the community area with toilet, grills, picnic tables, etc. Remember, your phone might not work near the river. If you need help, you might have to go back up to the road to call us. George (the owner) is there most every day and all day. There's so much fun waiting for you to explore! Tubes are available for a $10 charge per day. If you're feeling extra adventurous, there are rope swings that let you swing over the river, and there are super cool places to splash around and swim, part of which, is in the Indian Fish Trap. When your tummy starts rumbling, don't worry. We've got you covered with grills in the community area where you can cook delicious food. So you can have a tasty meal with the sound of the river flowing in the background. Also we are within 5-10 minutes to stores, restaurant , etc. But wait, there's more excitement! If you're looking for an even bigger adventure, this is the perfect spot to begin an awesome kayaking trip if you brought your kayak. Castleberry Bridge is where people from all over the country come to experience going through the Miner's Tunnel. So whether you want to float, swing, swim, or paddle, Castleberry Bridge is the place to be for all kinds of outdoor fun! Camping price is for 2 adults. Kids under 13 camp free. We have plenty of room to pitch your tents. It really depends on how far you would like to be from the bathhouse. We are 6 miles from Lake Lanier and the Chattahooce River, and a short drive to hiking/mountain biking trail heads. We have a wonderful bathhouse with restrooms, showers and laundry just a very short walk from our sites (maintained by the staff at the park). We're also pet-friendly and love our furry campers! Just add the pet fee for each pet in the extras section at check out or send us an email letting us know ahead of time and we will get that added. We just ask that you do not leave your pet alone in the tents at any time unless properly crated. You are financially responsible for any damage that is done to our accommodations by your pets.

The Cove consists of 12 acres with a tributary stream and spring fed ponds less than a half mile from the Toccoa River. It was originally the water source for the surrounding properties prior to the city installing a water system. It is completely private and unspoiled nature, with about a mile of walking trails throughout. The Mountaintop is a 3 acre high elevation site bordering 140 acres of undisturbed woods and is also very close to the Toccoa River. Fantastic location yet very private for base camp to access the many activities in this area, or enjoy the Toccoa River. It is the only campground in Fannin County limited to only one group at a time. Each site includes 2 access points to the Toccoa River. The Gibbs Drive community river access lot has a charcoal grill, picnic table, boat launch, swimming rock and fire pit with chairs. The Toccoa River Forest community river access lot has a big boat ramp. The river is controlled flow and usually at low water from dawn to about 2 pm, ideal for fishing or swimming/wading/boulder bopping. The River release schedule is available online at the website TVA.gov. The River has swift current when the dam is opened for release, usually daily. This property is conveniently located in Mineral Bluff, Georgia 30559, just 4 miles off the 4-lane highway (Highway 515/76) and just a short drive to Blue Ridge, Georgia; Blairsville, Georgia; Murphy, North Carolina, McCaysville, Georgia and Copper Hill, Tennessee. It is a paved road drive all the way to the entrance. It is located just a few miles from the center of downtown Blue Ridge with art galleries, many restaurants, brew pubs, shopping, the Blue Ridge Brewing Company, Mercier Orchard, the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad, and more! The Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad runs most of the year from Blue Ridge to McCaysville, right along the Toccoa River. The campsites are equally close to downtown McCaysville, Ga. /Copper Hill, TN. You are a short drive from Lake Blue Ridge, the Chattahoochee National Forest, Brasstown Bald and many hiking trails, such as the Aska adventure area, the Appalachian Trail, the Benton McCaye Trail, and trails in the Big Frog wilderness area, Cohutta wilderness area (largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi) the Rich Mountain wilderness area and the Project Chimps hiking trails. The Ocoee River whitewater center with the Olympic kayak rapids and the world class mountain biking trails are less than 20 minutes away. Hiking, biking, fishing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, tubing, boating, swimming, zip lines -- oh my!

Took a road trip up here for mountains and prettier weather. This site was perfect! We set up our tent in the shelter and it held up beautifully during some nasty storms and strong winds. We have a 6 person tent and it fit with room to spare. Only like a 20 minute drive to apple picking and blue ridge!

We love both of George's places. This was our first time on the cove and it was great. It feels very private and our dogs loved exploring the property. I enjoyed the sound of the creek as I fell asleep each night. We don't even bother putting up a tent, just set up our cots in the lean-to.

If you are looking for the ultimate peaceful getaway, this is the spot. Our stay was nothing short of amazing, largely thanks to the host, who was incredibly welcoming and genuinely dedicated to making sure we could completely unwind and relax from the moment we arrived. The campsite is nestled right along the flowing banks of Hothouse Creek. Waking up to the sound of water and spending lazy afternoons lounging in the hammock right by the creek was pure bliss. The site itself is extremely well-equipped—having a smokeless fire pit, a pop-up canopy, a charcoal grill, and zero gravity chairs ready to go made setting up camp a breeze. The 27-acre property strikes the ideal balance between remote wilderness and modern convenience. It’s quiet and private, yet just a short 15-minute drive into Blue Ridge or McCaysville when you need to grab supplies or grab a bite to eat. We also loved the indoor common house; having access to clean full bathrooms with hot showers and an air-conditioned den was a wonderful luxury. Nature lovers will love it here. We spent our evenings stargazing under wonderfully open skies—we really appreciated the thoughtful red exterior lighting designed to protect night vision. And as a bonus, we got to meet the property's three friendly goats, plus enjoy visits from a hummingbird and fireflies. This was our second straight year coming here and plan on fitting it in to our yearly hiking road trips. Thanks Ralph l!

What a wonderful stay at Rest and Retreat! I came as a solo female traveler with my dog and felt completely safe the entire time. Ralph is incredibly friendly and hospitable, he made me feel right at home and even started a fire for me every day, which was such a thoughtful touch. You can tell he takes real pride in his land. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and well cared for. I stayed in site 4, the most private site (and furthest from the bath house), and loved the seclusion. The site itself was set up so nicely with a pop-up canopy, hammock, smokeless fire pit, firewood, and a comfortable wood-chip ground. The showers and bathrooms are very nice and clean. The water is nice and hot, and they provide shampoo and soap that smell great, little details that make a big difference. Overall, a fantastic experience. Quiet, clean, thoughtfully run, and dog-friendly. I would definitely stay here again!

Great experience here! Ralph was very hospitable and you can tell he cares about your experience at his camp site. He reached out to verify the day I was coming to see what time I’d be there, and came out to say hello when I arrived later that night which I appreciated. The bathroom facility was very nice and clean not something you will get at most campsites! Just a quick note for people considering this site and I believe he may have posted this somewhere, I had limited/no cell phone reception, so if you need to be connected make sure you have some sort of contingency plan. Again this is to no fault of Ralph and it is the mountains of Georgia, but do be prepared!!

Weekend Trip to Smith Farm

I had a great time. I found a nice place to set up the tent close to the pole barn, I like my coffee in the morning and didn't want to waste time getting it so I opted for the use of the electricity. The ducks were fun, I think they thought they were dogs. I was impressed by how well maintained the property was and was completely comfortable walking around. I really enjoyed walking on the grass barefoot and the mosquitoes really weren't that bad. I went for peace and quiet and that is exactly what I got. Coffee and quiet.
