We are a 125 acre property that has 36 holes of championship disc golf. The North Oconee River runs through our property as well as three ponds throughout. We have plenty of room to pitch your tents. It really depends on how far you would like to be from the bathhouse. We are 6 miles from Lake Lanier and the Chattahooce River, and a short drive to hiking/mountain biking trail heads.
We have a wonderful bathhouse with restrooms, showers and laundry just a very short walk from our sites (maintained by the staff at the park).
We're also pet-friendly and love our furry campers! Just add the pet fee for each pet in the extras section at check out or send us an email letting us know ahead of time and we will get that added. We just ask that you do not leave your pet alone in the tents at any time unless properly crated. You are financially responsible for any damage that is done to our accommodations by your pets.

Come join us at this unforgettable camping spot at Historic Castleberry Bridge where the Gold Rush happened, the Indian fish trap still exist, the birth place of Denver Colorado and the hideout of Jesse James just some of the history that happened at your campsite on the Etowah River. Look for the gate at 851 Castleberry Bridge Rd (right where the bridge crosses the river) and drive through the gate and George (owner) should be there. There's so much fun waiting for you to explore! Tubes are available for a $5 charge per day. If you're feeling extra adventurous, there are rope swings that let you swing over the river, and there are super cool places to splash around and swim, part of which, is in the Indian Fish Trap.
When your tummy starts rumbling, don't worry. We've got you covered with grills in the community area where you can cook delicious food. So you can have a tasty meal with the sound of the river flowing in the background. Also we are within 5-10 minutes to stores, restaurant , etc.
But wait, there's more excitement! If you're looking for an even bigger adventure, this is the perfect spot to begin an awesome kayaking trip if you brought your kayak. Castleberry Bridge is where people from all over the country come to experience going through the Miner's Tunnel.

Our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit campsite has soft opening under way! This means we don't have many frills, but we are by far the closest RV site to central Atlanta, and the only one on MARTA public transit (right outside the gate).
We are a rare gem in this city. One of the last areas that have been allowed to return to nature after being farmed until the 1960s.
We are surrounded by 100s of acres of parkland, and yet are only 5 minutes drive from almost everything you will need.
You will see the hand cut terraces put in by the farm workers and then the forest has spent the last 50 years taking it back.
Still lots of old growth trees around though. The county just purchased/swapped 50 more acres to go with the hundreds more under it's watch. There is a 14 mile concrete trail that runs behind the property and all the way out along the south river. Quite the hike or bike if you fancy a good walk.
There is a 18 hole golf course, sports fields, public pool and YMCA type community center all along the trail and walking distance from the campsite.
We are a 501c3 non-profit church that is still in the early days of it's mission. Your donation to our site helps fund our mission and keeps the lights on.
We are massively focussed on permaculture as the only sustainable way of life and rapidly moving towards being totally carbon neutral.
You will be up close on our early days and see our Solar Roof Cabin (a total of 300 panels and 70kW output when completed). We make a lot of our infrastructure from windfallen and site development trees that are cut and shaped on our own electric sawmill.
Much of the rest of the renovations are done using upcycled and donated materials.
We are working towards:

Food independence via aquaponic farming
Providing solar powered refrigerated space to local food distros

Hello Campers,
We are a 125 acre property that has 36 holes of championship disc golf. The North Oconee River runs through our property as well as three ponds throughout. We have plenty of room to pitch your tents. It really depends on how far you would like to be from the bathhouse. We are 6 miles from Lake Lanier and the Chattahooce River, and a short drive to hiking/mountain biking trail heads.
We have a wonderful bathhouse with restrooms, showers and laundry just a very short walk from our sites (maintained by the staff at the park).
We're also pet-friendly and love our furry campers! Just add the pet fee for each pet in the extras section at check out or send us an email letting us know ahead of time and we will get that added. We just ask that you do not leave your pet alone in the tents at any time unless properly crated. You are financially responsible for any damage that is done to our accommodations by your pets.

We really appreciated having the gas grill/charcoal combo grill on site to cook dinners on and there is plenty of space to play some yard games (cornhole, frisbee etc). We will absolutely come back!"

The Great Escape currently has power and water hook-up but does not have direct sewer access. Your glamp-site is located in the center of a pine-oak-hickory-poplar forest adjacent to our active urban farming family, where we grow fruits and veggies, and raise goats, chickens, ducks and bees. This site is a singular rental. You will have it to yourself. You may choose to camp with friends in which there is space for an Rv and a pull behind or two small rvs. It can also be used to tent camp. There is a small shed with a full bunk on bottom and a twin on top. A table with two chairs and electric fireplace. There is in addition, a small A/C unit in the shed. It is a small space with nothing but outlets and a small refrigerator. You will need to bring all of your essentials. Pillows/Sheets/Linens/towels are not provided. The bath house is steps away. You will need towels/rags/soap/toilet paper and all essentials. It is merely a toilet, sink, and shower.
There is a Weber charcoal grill available on site. Bring your essentials.

I have 2 large fields that rarely get used so I thought it would be fun to let others use them. I don't have any hookups but 1 field has a well on it. I wouldn't drink from the well but it could be used for other things. Very safe quiet area. Its just a mini hobby farm but you're more than welcome to check out the chickens and my pig Peppa. If the chickens are laying good I will get you some fresh eggs.

Come join us at this unforgettable camping spot at Historic Castleberry Bridge where the Gold Rush happened, the Indian fish trap still exist, the birth place of Denver Colorado and the hideout of Jesse James just some of the history that happened at your campsite on the Etowah River. Our motto is "Thanks for keeping it clean," so help us spread the word and keep it true!
Look for the gate at 851 Castleberry Bridge Rd (right where the bridge crosses the river) and drive through the gate and George (owner) should be there. He will open the second gate for you where you will be able to drive through and park at your site - weather permitting. To the left of the first gate is the community area with toilet, grills, picnic tables, etc. Remember, your phone might not work near the river. There's so much fun waiting for you to explore! Tubes are available for a $5 charge per day. If you're feeling extra adventurous, there are rope swings that let you swing over the river, and there are super cool places to splash around and swim, part of which, is in the Indian Fish Trap.
When your tummy starts rumbling, don't worry. We've got you covered with grills in the community area where you can cook delicious food. So you can have a tasty meal with the sound of the river flowing in the background. Also we are within 5-10 minutes to stores, restaurant , etc.
But wait, there's more excitement! If you're looking for an even bigger adventure, this is the perfect spot to begin an awesome kayaking trip if you brought your kayak. Castleberry Bridge is where people from all over the country come to experience going through the Miner's Tunnel.

Our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit campsite has soft opening under way! This means we don't have many frills, but we are by far the closest RV site to central Atlanta, and the only one on MARTA public transit (right outside the gate).
We are a rare gem in this city. One of the last areas that have been allowed to return to nature after being farmed until the 1960s.
We are surrounded by 100s of acres of parkland, and yet are only 5 minutes drive from almost everything you will need.
You will see the hand cut terraces put in by the farm workers and then the forest has spent the last 50 years taking it back.
Still lots of old growth trees around though. The county just purchased/swapped 50 more acres to go with the hundreds more under it's watch. There is a 14 mile concrete trail that runs behind the property and all the way out along the south river. Quite the hike or bike if you fancy a good walk.
There is a 18 hole golf course, sports fields, public pool and YMCA type community center all along the trail and walking distance from the campsite.
We are a 501c3 non-profit church that is still in the early days of it's mission. Your donation to our site helps fund our mission and keeps the lights on.
We are massively focussed on permaculture as the only sustainable way of life and rapidly moving towards being totally carbon neutral.
You will be up close on our early days and see our Solar Roof Cabin (a total of 300 panels and 70kW output when completed). We make a lot of our infrastructure from windfallen and site development trees that are cut and shaped on our own electric sawmill.
Much of the rest of the renovations are done using upcycled and donated materials.
We are working towards:
Total energy and water independence
Total structural material independence
Food independence via aquaponic farming
Providing solar powered refrigerated space to local food distros
Providing local kids (and adults) access to training on permaculture and living with minimal impact on the planet.
Teaching people so they can teach others and pay it forward.

The kids and I had a great time tent camping at Castleberry Bridge! We loved being right on the water and George kept us well-stocked with firewood. If the weather was a bit warmer, we would have enjoyed the tubes and been on the water more. However, the chilly weather didn't keep the kids off the rope swing the first day. George and Gini thought of many things one might have forgotten for a fun, safe day-- first aid kits, life vests, doggie bags, inflating pumps, etc. The location is close to a Dollar General if anything else is needed. George was a gracious host, offering to help with whatever might be needed. Thank you for such a wonderful experience camping on the river!

Definitely an unforgettable experience. You can truly feel how much love and care has been poured into this land. One of the most unexpected highlights was seeing some of Georgia’s most beautiful butterflies, it added such a special touch to the trip Also a perfect camping spot for families and children. George and Gino are incredibly kind, warm and inviting, they really make you feel at home.The campsite itself is well maintained, the bathrooms are clean and it is a great place to fish. I honestly didn’t expect to find a spot that had everything, but this one absolutely delivers. Highly recommend!

Castleberry Bridge is the BEST place to camp because of the location being in Atlanta’s backyard and close to all the stores, restaurants and shopping (if needed). It’s tucked away enough that makes it feel like you’re in the back country in a historic property where the Gold Rush took place so you can bring your metal detector and fishing rods (private property so no fishing license needed) where Native Americans built and caught fish in a trap that is now a swimming hole great for the kids! The running water sounds from the rapids are great for relaxing and sleeping next to and you can also go tubing ($5 to rent) or kayaking. George even sets up and starts your fire pit with an unlimited supply of FREE firewood and the star gazing at night is beautiful! There is a separate changing room and the port a potty is clean. George and Gini are the kindest and best hosts and are more welcoming than your favorite Airbnb Superhosts! Their family keeps the property clean and are constantly upgrading the amenities. They are very committed to making it a forever park for everyone to enjoy, while providing a safe space for children, adults, dogs and generations to come. I highly encourage you to spend a night like Jesse James and continue to support their efforts by booking your stays and keeping the place clean by not littering and even make a donation to their nonprofit. We had a great stay! The farm is beautiful and spacious with lots of friendly horses and goats to visit. Wade and Willow (the dogs who work at the farm) gave us a tour and were so sweet and friendly. Site was great with all the hookups we needed, great location for sightseeing around Georgia.

About
Right between Athens and Atlanta, Fort Yargo State Park is the ideal destination for urban dwellers looking for an escape into nature. Hikers and mountain bikers can tackle some of the 20 miles of trails that wind through the park, then cool off with a refreshing dip at a large swimming beach that lies on the 260-acre lake, also popular with anglers and boaters. Visitors can also challenge themselves on the park’s wooded disc golf course and visit the 18th-century fort for which it’s named. The Fort Yargo State Park Campground features 12 walk-in campsites and 40 RV and tent campsites, as well as a selection of yurts, cabins, and cottages.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- Booking in advance is recommended and can be easily done online or by phone and up to 13 months in advance.
- Go ahead and book if you see availability—reservations can be changed one time without penalty. Subsequent changes incur a change fee.
- If you can’t reserve ahead of time, it’s worth checking in person for late cancellations.
When to go
Fort Yargo State Park is open year-round and is a great place to visit any time of year. Summers can get uncomfortably hot, but you can quickly cool off in the park’s large swimming area. Winters are typically mild to cool and still offer plenty of opportunities for hiking and biking. Spring and early summer are possibly the best times to enjoy the activities on offer while avoiding the highest temperatures and biggest crowds.
Know before you go
- A ParkPass is required for all vehicles and is not included with campsite reservations. Overnight guests pay only one ParkPass fee for the duration of their stay.
- Pets are welcome, but must be on a leash no longer than six feet and accompanied by the owner at all times. Pets are not allowed in buildings or swimming areas.
- The half-mile Bird Berry Trail is paved with a birding area, nature signs, and gazebo, and is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers.
- Drones are prohibited in all of Georgia’s State Parks and Historic Sites.
