I can’t recommend Mr. Gary’s site enough! My boyfriend and I had such a lovely time, and he was a gracious host.
This was our first time glamping (we normally camp primitive), and it felt like absolute luxury. The bed was comfortable, there was plenty of seating, and the access to electricity was a huge plus. The sound of the bubbling brook beside the camp was so nice to fall asleep to.
The location is great because it is peaceful and secluded, but it’s also 10 minutes away from the Main Street of Helen. It’s an ideal location if you want to enjoy the quiet and relax in nature while still having the option to easily participate in civilization.
It rained intermittently during our stay, but it did not affect the fun we had one bit. We stayed cozy and clean, especially with access to a hot shower! We did have to fight the mosquitos a bit due to the humid, rainy weather, which would have been no issue if we hadn’t forgotten to pack bug spray. So just remember to pack your bug spray and you will be all right!
And don’t sleep on the breakfast menu and other fun packages the host offers. Breakfast was incredible and definitely made with love. It really added to the experience and made our anniversary trip even more special.
We can’t wait to come back again! Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Our stay with Gary was absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, he made us feel welcome and at home. Gary is truly one of the kindest, most genuine hosts we’ve ever met. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed while still giving us plenty of privacy to enjoy our getaway.
The campsite felt like our own private oasis. The peaceful setting was exactly what we needed to escape and relax. One of our favorite parts was listening to the creek nearby. The sound of the flowing water was so calming and made the whole experience feel even more special.
Breakfast was amazing! I had the BLT quiche, and my husband had the camper-style skillet. Both were absolutely delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. It was the perfect way to start the day and easily one of the highlights of our stay.
Even the outdoor shower exceeded our expectations. The water pressure was fantastic, especially for an outdoor shower, and the temperature was always perfect. It was such a refreshing experience and showed how much thought has gone into making guests comfortable.
Every detail reflected the care Gary puts into hosting. We left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and already planning our next visit. We can’t wait to come back in the winter and experience the property in a different season. Thank you, Gary, for your kindness, hospitality, and for creating such a wonderful place. We highly recommend this Hipcamp to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway!

This is a piece of paradise, with a stream running right by the campsite, all you can hear is the water running by you and setting you up for the ultimate relaxing experience. Gary (the host) has thought of everything you need and has an immediate response if you have any questions or need any help with anything. His two little dogs are great and super welcoming and friendly. The location is super convenient to Helen and surrounding areas and all they have to offer. I highly recommend a visit and stay here if you havent!

This is a beautiful spot, even in the rain. We booked last minute as an anniversary getaway and a need to reconnect with nature. Gary is excellent, walking you through everything he has set up for you when you arrive. We loved the little trail that followed the stream, and the area near the tire swing. He also told us about a nature trail across the street.
Breakfast is AMAZING and so worth it. I had the quiche and my husband had the skillet. It is so nice after spending a night in a tent to wake up knowing you don’t have to make breakfast!

Gary’s campsite was wonderful, had everything we needed for a quick romantic getaway. Sleeping by the creek was so peaceful and the bed was very comfortable. We didn’t get a chance to order any food but the menu looked amazing. I would definitely book here again!

Gary’s camp was absolutely terrific! It was like a Bed and Breakfast with Glamping. The tent was spacious, the shower was hot, and the bed was very comfortable. His food was gourmet quality delicious. Highly recommend staying at Herzen Platz - you have to get the breakfast!

Herzen Platz (Place in the Heart) is appropiately named. The location was a delightful little piece of nature with its beautiful foilage, flowering plants and trees alongside a babbling creek and was just overall beautiful. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by our charming host Gary and his sweet little pups. He gave us a lay of the land, informed us of additional services offered (Like gourmet breakfast and other fare options available and use of the hot tub) and gave us recommendations on various local things to explore.
The tent itself was definitely the embodiment of glamping with its full size bed, leather futon, coffee station, and bottle of wine, complete with glass wineglasses, that greeted us upon arrival. It even had fans and a heater to accomodate the variances in temperature. The modern day outhouse consisted of a compsting toilet, mirror and outdoor handwashing station. Next to it was a shower with a tankless water heater that allowed us to take glorious hot showers. It was a fantastic experience!
Although it may not be typical for other guests, we were enchanted by the place and wanted to get to know its owner. As a result, we opted to talk to Gary and get to know him. He is truly a lovely soul!
My friend and I had the best time. We highly recommend Hertzen Platz and definitely plan on returing!!!

The location was amazing sleeping with the stream right behind this I had beautiful sounds and energy. We can go to Byrd call Flow water was awesome. Not to mention that Sieff‘s cooking every morning was top-notch. I’m plant based and so he accommodated the alterations to the menu and it was absolutely beautiful. There was tons of activities, nearby, wineries, beautiful hikes, and even more attractions that didn’t take away from the scenery that we were in. I will definitely be staying here again.

I loved the tent of Gary’s land. It was winter, so we could see the mountains, while still feeling secluded. The breakfast was amazing and Gary gave us great ideas of places to visit. His puppies even came to say hi!

Our stay at Hertzen Platz was absolutely wonderful! The host was warm and welcoming, making sure everything was perfect from start to finish. The tent was cozy and beautifully set up… it was comfortable, clean, and full of thoughtful touches. The surrounding area was stunning, peaceful, and the perfect place to relax and unwind. Breakfast was delicious!! We truly loved every part of our stay and would definitely return again.

The land is beautiful here. I loved sitting by the creek and identifying the array of different plant and tree species. Gary is a wonderful host. We shared open minded conversation and he prepared us a delicious seed oil free, dairy free, gluten free breakfast, with ease. We enjoyed our stay.

Gary was so welcoming and kind! My partner and I really enjoyed our one night getaway in the woods! It was peaceful and super close to Helen!
We both loved the spaciousness of the tent and amenities provided. The coffee maker was a welcome addition as well as the hot tub! However, keep in mind that the hot tub is not by the campsite, but near the host's house, so bring a swimsuit! I read the reviews prior, so I knew this.
The host's house is far enough away to feel private, but close enough to have some peace of mind. He has several dogs as a reviewer mentioned, but they are SUPER sweet and friendly. The only time I heard them bark was when he was on his way to bring us our delicious breakfast!
Don't go in expecting something super fancy. This is camping...but in comfort! I wasn't feeling very good when we decided last minute to camp, so this was just what I needed. Nature with some little comforts of home and security.

The place has all the amenities and luxaries, but you get to listen to the stream and nighttime noises all night. Gary was such a kind and considerate host and his an breakfast was amazing. I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful and refreshing Glamping experience.

Gary was an exceptional host making sure we had everything we needed and helped with anything troubles we might have had as well as making any recommendations for us around town. Breakfast was nothing short of divine so highly recommend for any coming to stay here to add that to their trip. Have already spoken to him about staying again in the near future so if you have any hesitance about booking here do not worry as it is well worth time and money to spend time in a wonderful area and being able to talk with a great conversationalist as Gary.

Herzen Platz campsite offers a tranquil escape surrounded by nature, with a creek running through it that adds to the peaceful ambiance. This was the best experience, we were able to have a girls trips group of (4) Gary was the most amazing, he accommodated us graciously, we were able to check in at 9pm he was able to make an appearance and show us around the camp site and communicated how we would like breakfast in the morning which was incredible it was presented beautifully and of course it’s taste was outstanding we felt very welcomed very safe and comfortable he was even able to help us start our fire! The was the ultimate experience! I’m truly grateful to have found Gary’s rare treasure and I will be coming back. The hot tub was relaxing we were provided drinks and towels.

This is a wonderful spot off of the beaten path but still close enough to get to everything and anything you want to do. My family and I camped for three nights and had such a wonderful time. This property is absolutely beautiful and will always hold a special place in my heart. Gary is a phenomenal host with superb culinary skills as well as eager to help with whatever you need. If you stay plan to get some breakfast…you don’t want to miss out!!! Cannot wait to go back one day!

Gary was a very kind and responsive host. It was a lovely campground, with the stream flowing nearby, and it was close to fun activities in Helen and nearby vineyards. As many others stated, the food was fantastic - I highly recommend the quiche! I'm sure others will enjoy camping at Hertzen Platz:)

Herzen Plaz ways so beautiful! I can't wait to come back again. Staying at this yurt was like stepping into a woodland dream. Tucked away in a secluded, mystical forest clearing, the space offered perfect peace and quiet—with just the soothing sound of a babbling stream nearby. One of our favorite moments was sitting on the patio swing right next to the stream, coffee in hand, completely immersed in nature’s calm.
The entire campsite was thoughtfully designed and full of charm. Soft patio lights twinkled overhead, and we had everything we needed: a grill for cooking, corn hole for a little fun, a hot shower that felt amazing after a day outdoors, and the most adorable, clean little outhouse. Inside the yurt, we were welcomed with a cozy interior complete with a coffee station, wine setup, and inviting, comfy touches throughout.
Our host was simply exceptional. Every detail—like offering breakfast and s’mores—made the experience feel not just cared for, but loved. It’s rare to find a place that offers so much tranquility, comfort, and magic all at once.
We didn’t want to leave, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend for anyone looking to disconnect, reconnect with nature, and be wrapped in woodland serenity.
