Lizardsniffer is a working horse farm with a variety of rental cabins and RV slips. We DO allow tent camping. Each RV slip has water, septic, 50 amp service and Wifi. An Amenities Cabin is provided for use by all RV site guests. The cabin includes a full-sized washer/dryer, a full bathroom with bidet, and an oversized jacuzzi tub. Guests must sign-up for a 4-hour timeslot. The cabin is available for use between the hours of 8am-8pm. Many of our RV sites feature private fenced paddocks for people bringing their horses or dogs. Horse visitors require all current paperwork (Coggins, etc.). Dog visitors must be social and friendly and thus are allowed to explore the farm with their owners off-leash if desired. We own a small farm on 64 total acres with around 59 wooded. We have 4 primitive camping sites with lots of woods, wildlife, and two small creeks. We are even located on a short dirt road to give you that country feel. All of our sites are spread out from one another and you will feel secluded in the woods with nature. On our farm are free range chickens, peacocks, goats and a donkey in a pasture, turkeys (wild and domesticated), honeybees (in the field), and a few outdoor cats. We enjoy our animals and nature. We want to share this experience with others so we have decided to rent a few camping spots that we have shared over the years with our children. Enjoy the peaceful nights and the sounds of nature and star lit skies. In the daytime check out our farm animals, walk the trails, or explore the woods. Guest are welcome to pet and feed the animals if they choose. I had a great stay at Surewood ForRest. I embedded up at site 4 because site 3 isn't suited for driving into the site. Could have easily fit 2 vehicles, or tents workout being on the path. Fairly quiet. Lots of forest sounds. Some distant industrial sounds but not enough to disturb.

We took our family of four in a 36’ RV to Lizardsniffer last week and had the time of our lives. We are grateful that Oar 4 ended up being a pull-through site. The kids went swimming and kayaking while we used the paddle boats on the lake. We got such good rest during our visit and enjoyed the dark skies for watching the meteor shower! Ask Lisa to meet the horses and you will not be disappointed. We will certainly be back!

The other campers and day fishers there were really kind and super respectful of each other! They have electrical hookups for rv/camper use and a clean bath house for use! You can really tell when hosts have put lots of love and attention to detail in a property. The airstream was comfortable and fully stocked with essentials as well as fun touches like books and games. We could hang out on the deck, with its fans and string lights, for hours... it was a quick visit, but it was the perfect place to celebrate our son's 5th birthday morning. I loved the airstream's design elements, the outdoor shower, fire pit, the butterfly bushes, the nearby trail. Thank you so much, David + Nicole.

At Hard Labor Creek State Park, the only hard labor you're likely to do is swinging a golf club, flicking your wrist with a fishing pole, or working up a little sweat along miles of off-road biking trails or the easy to moderate trails that can be used by both hikers and horseback riders. Afterward, you can lay out on the lakeside beach or take a dip in the water. Hard Labor Creek State Park Campground has 51 campsites for tents, trailers, and RVs, in addition to 11 smaller sites suitable only for tents or pop-up trailers and 11 horse camping sites close to stalls.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Bookings can easily be secured online or by phone, up to 13 months in advance.
The tent/pop-up sites are not available to reserve online, so you’ll have to call the park.
Sites are not available on a first-come, first-served basis. While last-minute availability is a possibility, you’ll still need to make a booking.

When to go

Summer is the most popular time to visit, when Atlanta residents flock here to cool off in the lake.
