Wow! Such a unique spot. Definitely want to return in the summer! This small cabin has all you need, and very cute. The unique location, eagles and waterfowl and a cool dog named Turner really add to the experience. Our pugs loved the place!

Highlights We enjoyed a late-Nov stay with our dog. It was cold, sunny (~8hrs) and crisp. The best: - Lovely short trails right around the property - private, accessible & beautiful. Endless wildlife photo opportunities. Saw 3+ nesting eagles in trees on/around property. Loved the binoculars provided. - Said hello to the cows (very photogenic) + pigs (hollered at us to feed them). A pig escaped but it was friendly and host was responsive. - Close enough to town and private enough to escape it all. Feedback I think important additional info should be included in the listing, so visitors know what to expect before they book, pack, get day-of instructions/rules, arrive, etc. Luckily none of these affected our trip too much because we over-prepared: - Toilet is porta-potty outside the building (clean but spiders!) - No electricity or indoor heat, 2 large batteries supply limited amt. of power. We (sparingly) used ~50% of 1 battery for 2-night stay. - Pictured kitchen equipment (other than outdoor propane camp grill) not available in fall/winter. We ended up going out to eat. - Parking is 100-200ft away from building. Firepit 50-100ft away. No exterior lighting. - Late Nov was cold, dark and wet on the property (which we knew) but due to the above, bring lots of warm clothes, floor coverings, rugs, and battery-powered lighting! I'll reiterate that we had a fantastic stay. I know the host is working on various projects on the site, so maybe we’ll be back in warmer weather!

The Pumpkin Patch is a great way to enjoy Lummi Island. The spacious site has great access to the adjacent beach area. Full hook ups were solid.

Weekend Trip to Highland View Farm

We had such a lovely time on Jacob’s property. It felt remote and private, while being a short drive into town. Our pup was a little too interested in the farm animals so we did keep her on leash, but she had a great time sniffing around on a long lead. Jacob was so friendly, checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend for an upgraded camping experience.

Weekend Trip to Camp Tranquility

Great area and a wonderful host. Met us during a rain storm as we parked our trailer and assist through out. Much appreciated. We have a 17’ trailer which fit just fine but anything above that would be a bit tight. Would recommend driving around property vice backing down the drive. Very nice spot and super quiet. Site was convenient to so many great attractions that it is a perfect base camp or just to relax and chill. Would recommend for sure.

I loved staying at the bungalow! It was the perfect rainy PNW weekend. The property is beautiful and quiet, the cows and pigs were adorable! Very close to the beach and the view of the lake waa amazing. So many more amenities than I was expecting and if it was sunnier I would have taken advantage :) The bungalow was very clean and had everything I needed for the night. I hope to return in the summer!

The bed was so comfy, and location is a short drive to La Conner for cute shops and restaurants. Weekend Trip to Guemes North Homestead

Ian is an inspiration, and staying on his property is more than just a fun adventure, it helped my family disconnect from our busy lives and reconnected with nature and each other. Although the barn is rustic and open, it still stood up to the rainy cold weather and allowed us to extend our camping season. We enjoyed the fire pit while we could, and we were happy to have the covered outdoor kitchen as well. The composting toilet was a unique experience somehow making even a bathroom trip a bit magical as it provides for privacy while also giving you a view of the beautiful forest. Seeing what he has been able to transform this space into, has already inspired us to start our own projects. Ian's passion is contagious! The kids truly enjoyed the play area with the zipline, swings and giant seesaw! We will be planning another trip here for sure and we are looking forward to checking out the other lodging options and or the camping sites. Maybe we will get lucky enough for a warm summer adventure and enjoy swimming in the pond. Ian was very welcoming and full of great info. Anyone would be lucky to get to experience some time here!

When we purchased this property it was covered with black berry bushes, we did not even know what might be underneath when we started to clear it. At first we just wanted a garden but the deer ate the blueberries so we planted pumpkins. They were a success, in fact one year we gave a pumpkin to each Beach School kindergartner. Later on we decided to set it up as with RV hook ups for our friends and that is how we got to where we are now. We love to share Lummi Island, it is a special place and we added the tag "Beach, Bikes and Hikes" lots to do on Lummi so bring your bikes, kayaks, walking shoes. Park your camping trailer or RV, water, electricity, both 110 and 30 amp service, sewer (septic hook up) are ready for you. We have a propane campfire for evening campfires but you will need to hook up your propane to it. Once you're set up, start exploring. The beach, blizzard trail, ride your bike, bring your kayak or just sit back and take in views all the way to Canada. Lummi Island does have a grocery store, near the ferry landing, two restaurants, no gas on Lummi, however the store does sell propane. There is two restaurants on Lummi Island the Beach Store Cafe, moderate prices but only open Thursday thru Sunday and the Galley usually open Wed thru Sunday. The best part of Lummi Island is the tranquility, kick back and enjoy fresh air, beach walks, outstanding sunsets and quiet nights. Pets OK, please pick up after pet and have a leash.

Secluded in nature, it provides a quiet escape with sweeping views of Mt. Baker, Portage Island and Bellingham Bay. It's the perfect backdrop for deep breathing, quiet reflection, and slowing down. Welcome to Lummi Island. Lummi Island is one of many islands that make up the San Juans. Home of a little under 1000 permanent residents, it is one of the easiest assessable islands as it has a regular ferry that runs daily, on the hour every hour from roughly 6am-midnight. On the Island there is a restaurant, a convenience store, farmers markets in the summer months, farm stands, artist tours and a delicious coffee cart most Thursday-Sundays. There are multiple public beaches, and this particular spot is part of the "Scenic Estates" which offers additional amenities including a swimming lake, playground, marina and boat launch all assessable within a 3 minute drive. The gazebo is a truly unique camping experience. There is a potty tent with a portable toilet. Please pack in and out all things. There is an option to rent a propane tank with a fire pit for an additional charge, but we ask no recreational fires as there is no water access at the gazebo. This property does have neighbors, but is pretty private. Please be respectful of them as well as Mother Nature. The outdoors await!

Thank you all for 2025!!! If the ground is not frozen, reach out! I may be able to book you in. Stay in our cabin at the estuary on Turners Bay where wildlife is abundant and easy to see. The Bamboo cabin is very private and has everything you need to just hang out. Saltgrass's location allows for many fun outdoor activities such as hiking at Kukutali Preserve State Park, crabbing, fishing, birding, bicycling and playing on the beach, my kids actually found a bottle with a message inside years ago. Alternatively, you could explore the many little shops in the towns of La Conner and Anacortes. There are multiple activities available, I would suggest calling ahead in order to book kayaking, rock climbing, whale watching, or a sailing charter. You could easily take a day trip to the San Juan Islands by taking a ferry ride out of Anacortes, walk on or book ahead if you are taking your car. Also, the Swinomish Casino and golf course are within two miles. While you're here you may meet our pup Turner, we also have two cats and several chickens. On the property are your hosts Jeri and Nancy, as well as our handyman Shawn, Saltgrass boasts beautiful flowers, vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and yes, the Bay. We try to live harmoniously with the land. We would love to share our space with you! Due to potential freezing weather and vulnerable water pipes, we have changed our booking to making a reservation confirmation. It has been a wonderful summer for us here at Saltgrass, meeting new people and welcoming back our repeat guests. We thank you all for visiting our place and hope we meet your expectations. October 10 2025, A new addition to the bamboo cabin; we built gates that allow you to secure the deck as an outside space for your dog.
