We are located only 10/15 minutes from all of the exciting things Asheville has to offer and just as close to the charming small town of Black Mountain!
The cabin at wild ridge is OFF GRID (meaning no power or running water) but I promise, with our solar panels and rain collection system you won't miss being ON the grid at all! The cabin and the drive (or hike) up was designed for the adventurous at heart! So, drive on up if you have 4WD or AWD and if you don't, no worries! Just park in the designated space, grab your gear and hike on up! (The hike in is steep... about 300 ft but takes less than 5 minutes) We have a cooler up there for any perishables you may have, just bring ice :)
Please note: We have to close the outdoor heated shower during the cold winter months, however we provide an all season 5 gallon solar shower bag to use during this time. We also have a list at the cabin of other places nearby that provide hot showers in the winter months for a small fee.
In the rare event that heavy snow is expected, we will have to close the road leading up to the cabin because of its steepness. If this occurs, you will be given a full refund for the cancellation.
To heat the cabin, there is a un-vented wall mounted heater that heats the space really well! Since the cabin is insulated, the heater works quick to heat the small area up so you will stay nice and cozy!

I sleep a lot on the day bed in the living room so the Sawmill can be comfortably rented for up to 4 guests. The outhouse is a thing of the past, just recently I installed a compositing toilet besides the bedroom.We also offer The Summit which is a high elevation, 2-story cabin surrounded by national forest which has evolved into an off-grid living and play space located at nearly 3300 feet elevation on a 1/2 acre flat with an incredible view. There are very private old forest service trails leading directly into the Pisgah National Forest.

Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too!
All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites.
Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. No porta potties are provided b/tw Dec 15 and March 15

Raven ridge is a 5.0 acre property with plenty of botanical appeal, Appalachian charm and mountain views. James landed on the property in 2009, built a small dairy barn and milked 3 cows for a couple years before building the two cabins. In 2015 he was joined by Sofi, originally from Sweden and together they have three daughters.
Together they manage a botanically interesting hill farm and are happy to host travelers and seekers in their cabins. Hilltop was a joint project that James built in 2012 with a talented woodworker and friend in 6 months. We have maintained the original vibe of the place, rustic simplicity and elegance a notch or two above glamping, well-described by the zen koan, "chop wood, carry water"
Orchard House was built entirely by James from the cement blocks to the roof. It’s very creative and cozy, besides spacious for a tiny home. People describe it as “dreamy”, also “perfect”.

We offer guests an off-grid and authentic Appalachian experience at our hike-in cabins and campsites located on 500 private acres atop the Newfound Mountains in Western North Carolina!
Our Trailhead is located 45 minutes west of Asheville, NC and our hike-in trail is 2 miles long with 1,250 feet of elevation gain. The hike-in trail utilizes an old forest service road which follows a creek providing verdant landscapes and soothing sounds as you make your way up the mountain to our cabins and campsites.
We have two antique Appalachian cabins on-site and two campsites available. Our cabins and campsites are priced per person and can be reserved individually or collectively through an entire property buyout. A hearty and healthy breakfast is served each morning in our Main Lodge and is included and you'll never pay a cleaning fee on this mountain because we believe in Southern hospitality!
Our Main Lodge (Cabin #1) has a huge front porch with spectacular views, a nicely appointed off-grid kitchen, full bathroom with hot shower and an upstairs loft that sleeps up to 10. Our on-site host/s stay downstairs in the Main Lodge in private bedrooms so they can keep the home fires burning, tend the garden, cook breakfasts, clean the cabins and ensure all your needs are taken care of during your stay.
Guests in our Upper Cabin (Cabin #2) enjoy a wooded and secluded setting in a rustic cabin that sleeps up to 6. Easy to reach campsite in the woods!
Fall asleep in your own tent to the soothing sound of clear mountain water rushing in nearby creek.
Wake up to glorious songbirds and relax al fresco on your private patio.
Campfire allowed--just be mindful that it is completely out before going to sleep or leaving the site.
Camper's toilet & sink available.
Will need to provide your own potable water.
You will be near a small private cemetery owned by the host.
Neighbors have hens close by; we ask you to keep your dog leashed.
Please keep food and trash in vehicle overnight to keep wildlife away. Kindly pack out your trash (and recyclables) at the end of your stay.
Only 10 minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway with its stunning views and scenic hiking.
For that small-town fun and funky experience, head 10 minutes in the other direction to Sylva--home of microbreweries, organic farmer's market, cool shops, award-winning restaurants, and various homespun curiosities.
Half hour from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Cherokee Indian Reservation, and Cherokee Casino.
All-new tubing on the river only 1 mile away!
Asheville is 45 minutes away.

I tent camp here about a year ago, and loved it. The work and improvements they did over the winter is absolutely impressive. From the luxurious bathhouse, to the sitting area near the sauna and the Cold plunge in the creek, I'm am impressed. Love staying here!! Amazing staff.

This is a beautiful place to reset and connect to family, friends, and nature. The shelter is well-made and a lovely place to enjoy a rain storm, have a campfire, cook, have fresh water, sleep to the sounds of the creek, have a sauna and cold plunge, all within a short walk of a beautiful bathhouse! It had everything we needed with lights and cook stove and pans/dishes and solar charger. It is very open air, but we had no mosquitos in June! It was perfect sleeping weather.

4 nights at Singletrack Shack
Had a magical time in the shack! It is clean, cozy, and bigger than it looks in the pictures. There are fans for if it gets hot, and also a heater if it's chilly. The outhouse is clean and convenient. Waking up to the sound of birds was amazing, and you can see so many stars at night! I think we even saw a few of the blue ghost fireflies, and a white squirrel! Beautiful trails to walk on with a ton of pretty moss. Christy and Rick are super kind and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Amazing stay! The Orchard House is so cozy and clean. My girlfriend and I were just stopping by for the night during a long drive, but it the cabin was romantic enough that we ended up making a date night out of it. Say hi to the goats for us!

Weekend Trip to Singletrack Shack
The shack was a nice upgrade from tent camping. Having access to electricity and water was convenient with the kids. We got in after dark the first night and Rick still met us over at the site to show us around and the next night he was kind enough to prepare the fire pit so all we had to do was light it when we came back. The outhouse was clean and nice. The boys loved the nature trails!

It was easy to find. Excellent directions to arrive, enter the cabin, instructions while there, and departing instructions. Hot tub on the back porch, completely surrounded by trees was fantastic!

Weekend Trip to The Nest on Laurel Drive
The Nest was absolutely perfect for our weekend getaway in the mountains for my birthday. My partner and I felt very comfortably and well met by the amenities that this small (but mighty cozy and well set up) space offered. The shower was amazing after a day of hiking. We also appreciated the brownies and the comfy mattresses. Highly recommend for a practical yet romantic getaway!

Weekend Trip to Cold Spring Basecamp
The A-frame was comfortable, and I liked that the door was facing the creek. The sound of the water was peaceful. The A-frame was well stocked, and the land amenities were awesome. The bathrooms were clean, and we enjoyed the sauna and cold plunge. There were fireflies when we stayed. We'd love to stay on this lovely land again.

Had a great time again, 2nd year in a row at the Cabin @ Sandy Mush Bald!! 5 of us and one 3 year old - great views, campfires and giggles. Special Thanks to "Uncle Doug" for breakfast and lugging our stuff up and down the mountain. Will be back again of course next year!

This place is probably the best campsite I have gone to since downloading this app. The owners are outstanding and very friendly. The river was top notch and you can't beat the location. I will definitely be booking another trip to this site again.

Our villa and the property grounds were beautifully well maintained and set up! There is an attention to detail and care and so my family and I had a wonderful stay! It’s very close to town for purposes of dining and of course to the National Parks for all the adventure. The only and I mean only little meh is that the WiFi that’s supposed to be available is too weak to use and there’s very little cell service - it was not a dealbreaker for us cause that’s not what we were out there for, but just for a full FYI.

This cabin was perfect for a relaxing weekend away! My husband and I love camping, but we decided to try "glamping" this time, and I'm glad we did! It rained the whole weekend, but we stayed cozy and dry inside the cabin. It was fun being off-grid and relying on candles and the propane stove... it felt simple and peaceful. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed: dishes, pots and pans, matches, even some treats for our pup which was a sweet touch! Deserae was also super helpful and kind when I messaged her to troubleshoot the propane heater when we arrived.
We highly recommend going into Black Mountain for lunch (Fresh Wood Fired Pizza and Pasta is our favorite!) and to visit the local shops. It's a super dog-friendly town and way less crowded than Asheville!
Make sure to pack some bug spray... we found a few ticks!
And finally, don't be too scared by the driveway... it's definitely steep, but our AWD (not 4WD) Subaru Crosstrek made it all the way up to the cabin just fine!

2 nights at Cold Spring Basecamp
Very organized and clean, solar lighting to light the paths, communicates easily, the cold plunge and sauna area is an oasis in the camp ground! The luxury bathhouse is wonderful! I found the outdoor shower the last day- my mistake! Tools in the cabin were a nice addition as i havent camped in many years! Comfy beds! We want to come back!

Very nice campground. Staff is very friendly and will look out for lone campers. They come by at least 2 times a day to check on everyone. Red cabin is just a bed but that is really all you need if hiking in the area.

This was by far the best hipcamp I’ve stayed at. We loved waking up to the bird song. Everything that you needed was provided and in very good condition. I loved that you could close the deck gates to keep the pups wrangled. The shower was lovely and warm. The swing made you feel like a kid again. The only downside is the walk up (we didn’t have AWD on this trip) but would be easily avoided with a car that could handle it. I would rebook this stay in a heartbeat! I hope to visit again in the future.

Beautiful place to visit! The layout of the property was very nice. They had port-a-potties throughout the path and plenty of benches (it rained when we went so it was a little muddy and wet). The goat barn was interesting, the kids enjoyed petting them.
