Great hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, swimming, and disc-golfing opportunities just a few miles away at Paint Creek State Park and the Highland Nature Sanctuary. Amish country is also just 15 minutes away with a great bakery, markets and greenhouses. This area is home to an impressive network of ancient earthworks including the world famous Serpent Mound.
Our accommodations range from primitive tent-camping to "glamping" in one of our tiny off-grid cabins. The sites are spaced out for privacy and each site offers a private picnic table and fire pit. There are two shared privies/outhouses which have basic composting toilets (not flushing). A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN (with the exception of site #1).
***Please take note that this is private property and the host lives on site. If you are looking for a place to be loud and party into the night, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to spend some quality time in nature, welcome. There are rules.

Dustin specializes in animatronics, steel sculptures, wood carvings, mixed media sculptures, and offers live art performances and experience packages for guests. Feel free to stop by the studio and say hello, our home is on the same 58-acre property. Although you cannot see our home from the Art Lodge or Tiny Bungalows, we're often nearby for assistance.

The Viking longhall has been 9 years in the making by a group of semi serious Viking enthusiasts: the result is a 60 foot long building that has 18, 8,x4' sleeping berths. Set apart from the main open area it also boasts 2 meeting rooms and a kitchen.
The campsite is a very peaceful place. Some go as far as to say a healing place! We are proud of what we have achieved and now want people to come out and enjoy it also.
The field is close enough to the Appalachian highway (state route 32) for convenience, but far enough not to be bothered by it. The area is steeped in Native American culture. In fact, the world famous Serpent Mound is but 8 miles away, with many other Adena culture sites within easy driving distance. It's also in the heart of the Amish community. The area is known for its natural beauty with many hiking trails and canoeing opportunities.
The area is awash in beauty and history from the ancient mound culture to the amish culture. The area has many hiking trails some of which are part of the buckeye trail and range in length from an easy 1 mile loop to rugged hikes of many miles.

Seclusion! Though our home and farm are located on the property, they are not in sight or hearing of the cabin. There are no other cabins on the property, and no other houses or buildings are visible from the cabin. It is quite private. Views of the surrounding fields, woods, and hills are included in the photos. Deer, turkey, foxes, birds, butterflies, and other wildlife are plentiful.
Private hiking.
The cabin is approximately 220 square feet and sleeps two comfortably, though children are welcome. In addition to the full-sized bed, an adult-sized cot and toddler-sized mattress and extra bedding are available in the cabin. There is also room beside the cabin for a children's tent.
Water source for washing and bathing is a rainwater cistern. There is both hot and cold running water. Drinking water will be provided, or guests may bring bottled water.
There is no air conditioning. The eco-friendly, solar-powered, Amish-built cabin is naturally cool and comfortable. There are two fans.
There is a heater.
Composting toilet.
The cabin has a microwave, electric lights, ceiling fan, portable fan, and dorm-sized refrigerator. It is off-grid, solar powered with battery backup, so power is available after dark. Propane cookstove and oven.
Most people have cell service on the property, though it is spotty. There is no wifi at the cabin, and no television. Enjoy a break from technology and the peace and quiet of nature.
There is a French press in the kitchen for making your own coffee using the propane cook stove.
Outdoor scenic photos are taken either from the cabin porch or within view of the cabin.

The modern, yet cozy, Carpenter's Cabin has a small footprint of 934sf but explodes with over 1700sf of interior living space over four floors and another 600sf is available on the three decks. The cabin boasts two owner's bedrooms, two bunk rooms, and one alcove bed in the library to sleep up to eight adults and twelve total guests. Three full baths round out the private spaces. There are two media rooms - The Conversation Pit on the main floor and in the lower level walkout.
The cabin was built as the first eco-luxe cabin in the Hocking Hills and includes luxury amenities such as organic bamboo sheets, Turkish cotton /eucalyptus bath towels, and natural body products to name just a few.
Explore our 32 acre pine forest in the Appalachian foothills, enjoy the hot tub, fire pit, and our three covered decks (including a third story screened deck off one of the two master suites). Twelve34 House is a modern, midcentury-inspired cabin that offers luxury amenities for the person looking to elevate their vacation. The glass wall opens the indoor chef's kitchen to the outdoor kitchen with gas grill, beverage fridge, and pizza oven on the back deck. Comfortable seating and a tabletop firepit complement the covered area that overlooks the forest and ravine.
The butterfly shape of the house offers bedroom suites in both wings, complete with spacious designer baths and king beds with organic bamboo linens and expansive views to the forest just outside the 12 feet sliding doors to the back deck. My husband and I had a wonderful little get away for the weekend. We had a blast. The sugar Shack is a great location where you can simply unplug from the world and enjoy your time in nature and the company with you. Aimee was a wonderful host and has done an amazing job to this property. We will be back!

The small cabin made it very enjoyable. The 2 of us along with a dog managed well. The AC worked well, the Keurig and Microwave we didn't use. We had planned on cooking over the firepit though by the time the day was done we were too exhausted to start the fire and let the dog run in the soaked muddy ground from all the rain over the past 2 weeks. The self-checkin made it easy along with the colored map to find the cabin. The solar shower I didn't get a chance to use. Only once did I hear the neighbors and that was when I let the dog out late at night. To avoid the rain, the small cabin made it worth it.

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm
Aimee is just the best host! Fruitdale farms is such a labor of love for her, you can tell as soon as you arrive. The cattail cabin is charming and cozy it sits right on the pond where the bull frogs sing you to sleep. Waking up there is nothing better than catching morning sun on the porch and taking a morning stroll with coffee around the property and Aimee’s beautifully done garden. I feel very lucky to have stayed here and sincerely can not wait to be back!

We stayed at the viking longhall and it was amazing. David was an amazing host and made sure everything was all set up and that we had everything that we needed. He came every morning amd brought us fresh hot coffee that was amazing. He was even a really good person to just sit there and have conversations with. The longhall was an awesome experience. So much to look at inside the hall and all the lighting inside was perfect and really helped set the atmosphere.

I stayed at Little Fern cabin. It was my first time at Fruitdale Farm and I definitely plan on coming back. I had the entire place to myself since it was a rainy week, but I could imagine it with other campers there and I think it would still be a very peaceful place. This farm, and specifically the Little Fern cabin, was just exactly what I was looking for: a place where I could get some much-needed alone time, adequate shelter from the elements but still be mainly outdoors, and enough comfort so that I wasn't spending too much time doing all the work required when you're actually camping. LOVED the gazebo kitchen. Loved how organized and clear everything was. Loved how comfortable it was. Loved the fact that there were trails on the farm for an easy after-dinner walk, that there was a pond I could actually swim in, that there was fresh fennel growing with the herbs outside the kitchen, that there were various places at my site to sit and relax, and that the Arc of Appalachia land plus the Serpent Mound were so close by. Loved the drive in. On my first cool rainy night, I really enjoyed the sauna :) I just loved this place. Also, the salsa was delicious and I was excited to get introduced to fermented garlic honey too. Thanks so much and see you next time!

Weekend Trip to EJT Retreat
This was our second time staying at this little piece of Heaven. So peaceful and quiet - and fun! We loved floating in the little pond and listening to the nature sounds (because that is all you could hear up there) The little cabin had everything we needed and everything was very clean. Weekend Trip to The Viking Longhall
Our stay at the Viking Longhall was wonderful! We stayed with a small group of friends and, lucky for us, we basically had the place to ourselves for the weekend. We played in the creek and spent time around the fire. It's a really chill environment, and especially fun for a bunch of ren faire/DnD nerds like ourselves!
We had the Creekside Cottage and our friends were in the Yurt. Both shelters were awesome. They provide tons of options for cooking and all the little things you might forget. My only regret is that we only had a few days! The grounds and Longhall are truly something to behold. Hearing about the history of the place made it even cooler! We can't wait to go back!
Super close to Serpent Mound, also closeby are other sacred Native American sites, hiking areas and state parks, and more. Thanks, Dave, for the hospitality! Can't wait to meet Iveagh too next time!

Weekend Trip to Woody Acres
We had an amazing stay at Woody Acres. We stayed in the Hickory Hut while our friends stayed in the Peppermint Patty Wagon, and both accommodations were thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. From comfortable bedding and extra linens to cooking supplies, serving ware, and other little incidentals, it was clear the hosts put a lot of care into anticipating guests' needs.
The property is absolutely beautiful and truly feels like an immersive nature retreat. The nature-inspired décor is intentionally curated, with so many personal touches that make each space feel warm and unique. We also appreciated that Woody Acres is dog-friendly, making it easy to bring our pups along for the adventure.
Kate and Austin were wonderful hosts—kind, communicative, and available whenever we needed them while still giving guests plenty of privacy. One of the highlights of our trip was joining them for a plant identification walk. It was incredibly informative, engaging, and gave us an even greater appreciation for the property and the surrounding landscape.
The mowed walking trails throughout the property were perfect for exploring, and the beautifully landscaped sites offer plenty of privacy between campers. The outdoor composting toilet and shower were both very clean and only a short walk from our hut.
We also loved how close Woody Acres is to the Hocking Hills attractions, making it easy to enjoy the area's hiking options.

Awesome hipcamp! Location was super easy to find— maps took us right to the well-marked campsites. The Hickory Hut was adorable and well stocked with camping essentials should anyone forget to bring along matches, bug spray, etc. The outdoor shower and toilet were both clean and functional, and both were only a very short walk from the cabin. AC works well, and even on a toasty night the cabin stayed nice and cool in the evening. Thank you Kate and Austin (and Rubeus!) for a great stay!
Also, check out the pond if you have time. I braved a refreshing dip— highlight of the stay!

We loved staying at Esther's place! It's just as advertised, if not even more charming. We were there during the hottest week of the year so far (temps near triple digits), and the A/C & fans kept up well. The furnishings were comfortable and along with the items we brought from home, made for a cozy stay. Thank you!!

So cool to see the mounds and learn about the hopewell culture. The trails are easy to walk and would be accessible even if I'd brought my little ones and our stroller which is really nice. It wasn't super crowded either which was a nice surprise.
