Unplug from the world and recharge your body and mind. The rustic cabin has no electric but has solar lights inside and one outside. No running water, we will have two 5 gallon jugs of water at cabin. Sleeps up to 5 people. Has a full bed with linens provided in the bedroom. Also a full mattress, and a cot size mattress in the loft. (Bring sleeping bags or linens for these beds.) Pillows are provided. The loft is not suitable for young children. Has a battery powered shower inside and also one outside in the summer. Bathroom uses disposable compost 100% degradable bags, Should HAVE A ALL WHEEL DRIVE or 4 X 4 VEHICLE, or a front wheel drive car with high clearance, or could hike up to the cabin. The rode is steep in places. Behind a locked gate. We will meet and take you to cabin. You will be given a key to use. Cabin is .8 of a mile off of Jordan Run Rd. and is around 5 miles to the entrance of forest rd 75 and 2 1/2 miles to entrance of forest rd 19. Has beautiful mountain views from above cabin (see pictures). Can see the top of dolly sods from cabin. Has a propane wall heater and wood stove for chilly nights. Fire wood is provided. You can hike or bike on roads on the property. In the winter if there was snow you could bring snowshoes and hike up to cabin and if you had skis you could ski back off to your vehicle or could cross country ski on one of the roads on the property. Cabin is 15 to 20 minutes from Seneca Rocks, Smoke Hole caverns is 8 to 10 minutes, Canaan and Timberline ski resorts are 45 to 55 minutes away. Local streams are stocked with trout. No pets, no smoking in or near the cabin. No drugs or parties allowed. There is a smoke detector, a carbon dioxide detector, and a fire extinguisher. There is bears and other animals around. Tent / Cabin near Dolly Sods.
Rocky hollow is absolutely gorgeous and totally remote. Pansy and Ronnie when above and beyond providing what was needed to make the stay comfortable - cook stove, propane heater, 3 gallons of drinking water, warm rugs and bedding in the tent. There are hiking trails and beautiful views right on the property. We really enjoyed our stay even though the weather was a bit stormy and windy.

Wonderful cabin, just as described. Beautiful views and large walkable property. Lots of thoughtful touches including kindling basket and solar lights. Nicely supplied kitchen and propane grill was great for cooking. Everything we needed for an off grid weekend was thought of. Would happily return.

Amazing place! We were in site #1 and had the beautiful view of the area. Incredibly quiet. Lots of fire wood. Nice toilet set-up. Lots of wildlife: coyote, deer and bear. 21 minutes from Seneca Rocks. Couple of things to note: you MUST have 4wheel drive or suv. My Rav4 made it but we bottomed out twice. Went VERY slow back down and that took care of that. Because of the road, it took 10 minutes to get up the hill. Would definitely go back.

The site is really exquisite!! Very peaceful and high above the world with a great view into the distance, really nice big pile of firewood and a perfect shelf to pitch the tent. It is truly a paradise!

Off Grid Cabin near Dolly Sods No 1
We had such an amazing stay at Rocky Hollow Paradise! The cabin and property were exactly as described, and was the perfect place for my son and I to get away for the week, disconnect from the rest of the world, and spend some quality time 1-1 in the woods. We loved it. Pansy and her husband are also just exceptionally nice and helpful people. Our van got stuck in the ditch one evening (my fault), and she drove us into town to call the tow company -- and stayed with us for 3+ hours waiting to make sure we were OK. She entertained my son, and was just helpful across the board. I couldn't/can't thank her enough for all the help. We absolutely would recommend their property to anyone looking to getaway -- and I hope we will be back soon!

Off Grid Cabin near Dolly Sods No 1
Pansy and Ronnie went above and beyond to make us their largest group ever. Through a combination of tent campers and cabin dwellers we had a great July 4th here. Pansy was responsive along the way with gear questions and vehicle clarifications. We had a range of experience in our group from novice campers to backcountry veterans, and everyone was comfortable, and able to make it a good trip. We had a late night deer visitor one night. We are all spooked for a minute when we saw reflecting eyes in the trees. A great story to tell now. If you’re hiking in Dolly Sods, I think this is one of the best base camps you can ask for. The stove top worked seamlessly and as you can tell from their pics, there is a lot of cooking tools. We definitely brought more gear than we needed to. If your group is splitting up for the day, ask for a second key. They do keep things locked up at all times

Very private primitive campground! Great view looking over the valley. The road to get up to the site was a dirt and rock road, but very doable with a Subaru or a small SUV. Good location and not too far from Seneca Rocks!

Incredible time at campground 1 for our second time visiting. It is such a remote, quiet, peaceful site but still very close to great camping (Dolly Sods and Seneca Rock), climbing, swimming, and much more. Great camping bathroom set up, tons of land to space out, great fire pit, and occasional wildlife sightings. Still one of the best hipcamp finds I’ve ever had. Unless you are looking for lavish amenities, you will not find a more beautiful peaceful sight

This was our second time back to Rocky Hollow (the first time we tent-camped), and just like the first time, it was absolutely amazing and exactly what you need if you're looking to get away. The cabin was lovely. The location felt extremely private, and it was surrounded by all the major parks. We will definitely be back again!

Fantastic campsite. Great little view towards the Allegheny Front. Road is ok with 2WD though I think it would be more difficult/risky after heavy rainfall. Lower than normal clearance on a vehicle would also be problematic. Highly recommend this beautiful spot!

Wonderful for stargazing!

Really enjoyed our time at the campsite! Had a great lookout vista to stargaze and it was incredibly peaceful. Will be back again! Definitely requires a 4WD vehicle (we had a Jeep Wrangler) to get to the site, which was clearly explained in the information as well as having the host reach out to confirm with us. Host was very diligent about providing information and checking in.

This was a spontaneous trip for me over a long weekend, went to explore the Dolly Sods wilderness area. Dolly Sods has one public campground but doesn't take reservations, sites are close together and usually full this time of year. This Hipcamp site is about 20-30 mins to some of the most popular areas of Dolly Sods. I wanted something different from the typical campgrounds and opted for off the grid. Found availability at this Hipcamp site and it met my needs for sure. Pansy and her husband met me at the gate. I followed them in their car to the camp site. It's a dirt road and I can see why others commented about the need for AWD. Unless it's wet and muddy, you should be fine. The camp site has a fire ring and privacy tent with toilet setup (cleaned for each new guest). I opted to setup camp just down the hill about 20 yards which provided more level real estate for my larger tent. Also brought my Solo stove with a new cast iron grill top that I wanted to try out. Made some tasty fajitas on it. Removed the grill top and threw on more firewood for a nice fire under tons of stars. I didn't see or hear a single soul at this site with a great view of wilderness. Pansy was very responsive during the booking process. Upon arrival to the site, enjoyed the conversations with Pansy and her husband. Great hosts, very nice property.

We had a great time staying at Pansy's cabin! It is located on a perfect spot to enjoy the sunset and see the stars. 10/10 location and I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone.

Rocky hollow was amazing!!! the camp site had great views, was very secluded, and pansy was a fabulous host- incredibly communicative, and very hospitable. We would love to come back! The road up to this particular campsite was definitely rough- I drive an AWD Subaru Impreza hatchback and we made it no issue, but I don’t know if anything less than that would make it all the way up to campsite 1.

Pansy’s land is beautiful and peaceful! Very private with a few other sites on the property. All sites are very well spaced apart and you never hear or see anyone! Pansy emphasizes the rugged terrain to get up the mountain - so read and believe it! We had a 4WD truck and didn’t have a problem! Very worth it!

The place was so secluded and lovely. I had a very relaxing time here while hiking around the Dolly Sods and Chimney Top. It is a great location and is so close to so many of the natural wonders of that area. I will say a few things in addition just so people are aware. The lane is no joke! A car will not make it and an suv will need to go super slow. I was in a truck and it was still an adventure. They have 2 free roaming horses who are magical and lovely. The white one let me pet her and I watched the sun set and the stars come out with them on Friday evening. They love the meadow there on this hill. There will be poop, obviously. I didn't realize but horses will stay up all night grazing and chewing and I didn't sleep more then 2 and a half hours because for the rest of the very early morning they were so loud I could not fall back asleep even with earplugs and headphones with music. I am a light sleeper. The next night they were somewhere else, so I don't know how frequent or rare that experience was. But something to be aware of. Pansy and her husband were super nice and I felt very safe there the whole time as a solo camper. I feel lucky to have found this spot.

Wow. When I say this spot was beautiful I’m not lying!! The owners were absolutely amazing and so welcoming. It is about a 4-5 minute trek up a steep mountain so I wouldn’t recommend a sedan unless you’re feeling risky… Also, I’m not sure if it applies to everyone but be prepared to not have service at the site and about 10-15 minutes around it. I’d recommend planning before hand and knowing the directions of places. Overall, I’d 10000% recommend this area to anyone, they even have a few other sites around as well as a cabin. All sites are extremely secluded. We are for sure coming back!!

This campsite was absolutely lovely! My friends and I genuinely enjoyed our time here. The view was great to have and we felt super secluded. The only things we could hear from our campsite was wildlife, and the cows in the morning from the farms below. The connivence of this site to the Dolly Sods was perfect. We managed to take my 2WD vehicle up the path to get there (the trail was dry). As long as your vehicle isn't extremely low, and you have experience on trails, I think it would work. Thank you Pansy for having campsites on your land, you did a great job with placement and continuously great job with maintenance.

Loved this site! Tall trees surround the campsite on one side and a lovely distant view of the mountains on the other. The road up is no joke. We did fine when in 2wd in our SUVs but had it been wet, 4wd would be necessary. It was quiet and perfect.

Off Grid Cabin near Dolly Sods No 1
Clean, well-appointed off grid cabin that was awesome for our family of four. We enjoyed our time at the cabin and exploring the property. The kids loved their space in the loft and we enjoyed the warmth of the woodstove while taking in the views from nearly every window. We are already thinking of when we can return... and hopefully see some snow.
