We were greeted by our wonderful hosts the morning after our arrival and had great conversation. They had good ideas for us as we visited the area attractions.
We came in the dark and found the address with no problem, though it is very hard to tell where I should drive up the hill and onto the cement pad. I found the way in but was not going to attempt back up a hill in the dark with our small camper. We pulled in and parked on an angle using that nice flat cement to unhitch and roll the camper into position the next morning.
The deer and turkey are nice to watch. I got up to head to the shower in the morning stopping to watch two bucks sparing in their front yard!
Elk bugle both evenings and mornings which was a treat for us also.
About the campsite; there is only one so no neighbor campers, other houses are within view though very quite and everyone seems to head for bed early like us.
The block wall at the back of the cement pad is cracked about halfway up for the entire length along a grout seam which has a bees nest in it (didn't bother me even when I forgot and got really close to them). We did have a couple bees visit while the shower!
Both of us were using paper towels to set or toiletries on that first morning. The bath/shower needed touchup, so the next morning I used the supplied cleaner and hose to wash down the sink, shower pad, storage shelf and toilet paper container then the floor and rubber mats.
I still would recommend a stay here!

This was the second of two extensions on our original reservation. Lynn and Rod are wonderful. Rustic Rendezvous was perfect for our motorcycle camping trip.

Lovely little place close to many things. Great place to refresh yourself after off grid camping for a bit. The amount of wildlife we saw was also wonderful to see.

The hosts greeted us upon arrival and were very accommodating. The space is just what we needed , a nice getaway in a private setting close to town . Would highly recommend:)

This is the first of two extensions at this HipCamp. It’s AMAZING and exactly our cup of tea. Lynn and her husband are wonderful human beings who love where they live and love hosting visitors - it shows in everything they have done to welcome guests at Rustic Rendezvous. This place is perfect for us because we want something that we can have all to ourselves and not have to see other travelers/campers or guests. We also want something away from busy main streets, freeways and towns. And we also want at least a toilet, and anything else after that is an added bonus.

Easy to find. Great directions. Exactly as pictured and described. A quaint spot on picturesque land. The cement pad is perfect for parking our adventure bikes. The dirt road off the highway isn’t difficult or long. BE CAUTIOUS WHEN DRIVING - lots of deer live in these parts and we saw so many cute fawns that still had their spots. The flush toilet, sink, shower, table, chairs, electricity, potable water, microwave, wildlife (lots of deer, turkeys and other birds), and good distance from major freeways and off the beaten path made this the perfect base camp to visit all the local South Dakota attractions and not have to worry about where we would sleep after a day on the motorcycles. There’s a perfectly flat spot for our 2-person tent and every night we fall asleep listening to the wonderful sounds of nature (owls, crickets, coyotes, and this time of year the bull elk are bugling - absolutely magical).
We loved this place so much, we booked it for two more nights on top of our original reservation.

Lynn’s campsite has amazing views, very private, has electric outlets everywhere, hot showers available with complimentary toiletries. We would definitely be back at Rustic rendezvous!!!

Very quiet, the pad was perfect for a level area for our van, plenty of shade, and the bathroom was well maintained and so convenient. Great base camp for Custer State Park and the Badlands!

Nice quiet space. Better for a small camper than tent camping. We did find a couple of flat spaces in the grass that didn’t pool with rain for two our two small tents that were flat. Great proximity to all the sights, parks, etc. Lynn had helpful information ready about the area.

Lynn was a super host. The camp site is best suited for small units. It was fun to watch deer and turkeys roam through the area. Location is perfect if your planing to visit Keystone, Hill City and Custer State Park.

We arrived late at night, so couldn't see the property as we arrived. In the morning, we were greeted by deer, turkeys, birds, and rabbits. It was nice to have a private shower and bathroom available. The owners came over in the morning and were super friendly. We would definitely recommend.

Really fabulous spot central to everything in this area of South Dakota. Great amenities with covered patio, access to electricity and your washroom and toilet - luxury! Great view and we even had deer and turkeys wander through. Lynn and Rod are great hosts and gave us lots of advice on what to do around the area. We were so glad we booked to stay 3 nights so didn’t have to pack up each night.

Lynn’s Rustic Rendezvous is a fantastic spot. She and her husband were very warm and welcoming, and their HipCamp site was exactly what we needed. Our boys had a lot of fun on the lawn, our trailer was level thanks to the concrete slab, and we were extremely comfortable. They even allowed us to plug into power, which made things easier for us as we were unlucky with the weather and not able to get much charge from our solar for our teardrop’s refrigerator. And I took a shower! A real luxury on a camping trip.
The wildlife in the pictures is spot on! We saw more than a dozen turkeys, deer every morning, lots of birds, rabbits, etc.
their location was terrific. So beautiful! Close to Custer State Park (and not far from the town of Custer), near to Mt. Rushmore, Jewel Cave National Monument, etc. my kids are hoping we will be able to come back next year. We would love that.

Great location, within an easy drive of Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, the Iron Mountain Road and Needles Highway, Custer State Park and both caves. You've got your own concrete pad and flush toilet, sink and shower, set in a quiet alcove looking out over grass and trees, between the owner's house and the neighbor's. Far more privacy than your average campground. The hosts are marvelous people, friendly and with plenty of great suggestions. We stayed two nights and it was great to return the second night to a place that already felt like home.

We spent 4 nights at Rustic Rendezvous. We had electricity, water & our own private bathroom. Our teardrop camper fit perfect on the concrete pad & still had room for our Subaru. Lynn & her husband were very accommodating & checked on us a couple of times to make sure everything was OK. They gave us great info on places nearby to visit. I was sad to leave because it's a great private base camp for all the things to go see in the area. We will stay here again when we come back to this area. We loved sitting out at night and listening to the Elk buguling. All kinds of wildlife Canberra seen from camp. Thanks Lynn & Rob for such a good camping experience!

A perfect private location. Set up my hammock and enjoyed the sound of the elk throughout the night. Lynn offered great recommendations for dinner and travels. Don’t pass up this Hipcamp during your travels.

Great spot to stay as well as some great advice from the owner. First on staying at Mt. Rushmore and watching lightning ceremony. Totally worth it. And then another suggestion to check out Custer park and the wildlife loop. That was amazing too!!
Plus saw some deer and wild turkeys when we woke up in the am.

We stayed overnight and felt secluded away from everyone but also close to all the parks and towns. Lynn was also really helpful and responded to all my questions quickly. Definitely would stay again if we come back to the area in the future.

Rustic Rendezvous was our destination after a long day in the car. We had a bit of trouble finding it but that was because of my GPS's lack of calibration. Just a hint (in case yours is doing the same thing): go *past* the new red pole barn, THEN turn left! HA!
Once arrived, we saw the second-prettiest HipCamp! It was a close second and, like our favorite in SC, the owners were just top-notch, tied with the first! What a friendly, welcoming couple! They came out to welcome us after our belated arrival (and talked us through how to get there as well)!
Their communication was fantastic, the site amazing (I took more pictures here than I ever have), the wildlife abundant. You will lack for nothing here! Amazing...all around.

What a wonderful, peaceful place to camp! It was beautiful, convenient, and full of wildlife! We set up a tent, had a bathroom at our disposal, and set some chairs up to relax after a long days drive and site seeing. We all feel asleep watch the stars! Thank you for a wonderful place to stay! If we are ever drive west again, we will definitely be looking you up to stay again!
