The whole site setup is great. Very comfortable bed and warm blanket, the comfort station is very well put together from the bathroom, to the coffee setup and outdoor shower. There’s a trash bin for your trash, there’s running water to fill up your water bottle and also 2 cushion chairs next to the fire to relax at. There’s a nice little market store that’s only a couple minutes from you to get your quick grab and go items.

Great spot! Warm covers provided for an otherwise very chilly night. Nice to arrive to an already pitched tent you can stand up in with a comfortable bed. Good stars!

We enjoyed our stay in The Blue Cottage Bell tent quite a bit! It was nice to be immersed in nature and the bugs were not bad at all. It is a bit of a walk from the parking area to the tent so I would recommend bringing a cart if you have a decent amount of stuff. The comfort station was much appreciated!

It’s a lovely, secluded but not in a creepy way, campground. A lot of wildlife and the area is quiet but also full of life. Lots to do that’s not a far walk or drive.

It was the perfect environment and set-up for what I was looking for. I would just recommend for anyone coming possibly have a little wagon or something that you could use to bring things back to the yurt including a cooler. It is quite a ways back there from the parking area which is necessary in order to get the seclusion in the forest so being prepared is helpful. Clean, environmentally responsible, short distance to a secluded beach area, etc. I will return hopefully!

Fernside was a wonderful stay for me, my significant other, and our puppy. Daniel was very meticulous in his design as every little detail stood out whether it was string-lighting powered by solar panels surrounding the yurt/tent, charged fans in the comfort station, or even toilet paper inside our living space in case we couldn't made it to the designated toilet (which didn't happen but was comforting to know it was there). Thank you for the stay, we are wishing the best for you and this gem of a spot!

The campsite was lovely. David is super responsive and kind! There's so, so much to do in close proximity while still feeling like you're not too far out. My partner and I went down to a nearby beach at night to check out the stars, visited the local lavender farm, and spent some time eating our way around town. During our September visit, we found there to be a lot of insects in the comfort station (I prob should've expected this because duh, summer camping), but they don't bother you at all. The bed in the tent is extremely cozy and everything was very clean. Just make sure to bring a headlight for the evenings and maybe some extra lighting for inside!

This was the perfect solo getaway. It was remote enough to feel secluded but also close enough to civilization that I felt safe as a solo female traveler. The outdoor shower & running water was such a treat and the close by beach was gorgeous. Proximity to saugatuck / Douglas was wonderful and I can’t wait to come back! Best sleep I got in a while

Staying in the tent at Fernside was so nice! A little slice of heaven carved into the woods. The bed was so comfy and the tent was so big, we had a great time sitting up playing board games. They obviously put some effort into their shower/bathroom setup. It's so nice! It was lovely to get ready for bed in a clean space and wake up and be able to make coffee. We were roadtripping through the area, so the fact that this was right of the highway was so nice. However, there is a bit of road noise. You also do pass their neighbor's house on the way to the tent. Not a big deal for us, but good to know if that's a big deal for you. Our pup loved it here too! Lots of places to sniff and explore. Would recommend if you're a nature lover looking for a fun road trip spot!

This spot is super cute! Close to beaches and all the good stuff this area has to offer. Super comfy tent and bed. I would recommend darker colors for rugs and bed covers, especially after the rain and traveling with dogs. I couldn’t help the muddy paws! Had a warm shower and would totally go back here again!

What a gem this place was. We stayed there one night and would definitely go back. It’s just a short walk to a lovely rugged beach too where you could watch the sunset. Absolutely serene.

Cool spot for camping and great alternative to staying in a hotel in Saugatuck (only 15 minute drive)! The bed in the yurt was very comfortable. Blankets and pillows were provided. The shower and comfort station were very nice to have and was kept in good working order. The host added nice touches to make the site more enjoyable such as a charging station for phones, portable fans for the tent, firewood, and chairs for the campfire.
You are camping in someone’s back yard, although the immediate camping area is mostly wooded. There is a new home being constructed next door that is rather visible from the fire pit which sort of took away from the sense of camping deep in the woods but still a great outdoors retreat especially coming from city living.
There’s a corner store located not far from the site that has everything you need and excellent pizza.
Overall, I highly recommend and will be retuning.

This place was amazing! We loved the tent and comfort house! The trail was nice and things were marked well. It was quiet and peaceful! We loved the outdoor shower and the water was a great temperature! We would’ve like some more lights on the path, but other than that we loved it! Would definitely love to come back!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Truly a magical spot and so thoughtfully designed and maintained. It felt really private and serene. The tent was spacious with a super comfortable bed (with clean linens and pillows and a handy shelf!) and a perfect little table and chairs. Chairs and firewood were waiting for us at the fire pit. The comfort station is so charming and has many thoughtful amenities - lamp, hot water, mugs, tea, plug for charging, sink with soap, adorable instructions for using the composting toilet. Super easy parking. The rocky beach that was a 1-minute drive away felt like such a hidden treasure, we loved watching the sunset there. It was a 15-minute easy drive to the other beaches we explored (Oval Beach and Saugatuck Dunes State Park.) Thank you for a great adventure.

Such a cozy and private spot! The bed was comfortable, we slept so well with the sound of the nearby creek, frogs, and insect friends. The comfort station included an outdoor shower that had relaxing hot water. We didn’t get a chance to have a campfire, but that spot was adorable!
I would absolutely stay here again, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a spot!

The Fernside tent was the perfect place to decompress after a 2 day cross country road trip. The fresh forest air and bullfrog sounds helped me to rest peacefully each night and Dan, Mackenzie and Kate were such wonderful hosts, making sure I had everything I needed during my stay. I’m so glad this hipcamp is dog friendly because I take my two dogs everywhere with me. The beach is a short walk away. I will definitely be back next time I come through Michigan

Our stay was wonderful! This quaint yurt provided a peaceful getaway. The beach was only a 15-20 minute walk away and was nearly always empty when we went, which was amazing. The yurt and comfort station were both clean and put the glam into glamping! Just note, the bathroom is a bit of a walk from the yurt, and you will definitely see lots of bugs and small critters (which, since you’re in the woods, this makes sense!). Besides these two small details, my friend and I truly enjoyed this exceptional stay.

Very quiet and relaxing. Perfect spot to set up a hammock, start a little fire and just chill. Having a sink and an outdoor shower allowed for easy clean up after bonfire smoke and bug spray. We were able to make it to the beach at south haven in no time as well. For anyone looking for a peaceful retreat, this is the spot!

Overall, we had a lovely stay and the accommodations were very nice. The yurt is at the back of a wooded 3 acre parcel in a small neighborhood. The listing doesn’t describe that there is a home on the property or that there is a new build to the right of the camping area. We arrived on a Friday evening and the neighbor was lawn mowing for a few hours as well as being woken up to the sounds of nail guns the next morning, which detracted from the feeling of privacy/seclusion. It was still quieter than a regular campground and has a decent amount of privacy for where it is located. The beach is a ten minute walk through the neighborhood and is a fun place to explore given the large rocks and clay cliffs, but there is no sandy beach or good swimming there. Oval beach is the most beautiful beach in the area and is about a 15-20 min drive. We also had a night of very heavy rain and another night of stronger winds, and the yurt held up extremely well, as long as the sides are zipped up. The rain on the canvas was very loud, definitely bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper like me! The propane outdoor shower gets to about 90 degrees on the lowest pressure setting, plenty warm enough for us but not hot. Great stay if you want to be closer to the lake without the hassle of big campgrounds or an expensive airbnb.

I literally can’t say enough positive things about fernside camp the Blue Cottage. Daniel and Mackenzie have an awesome set up! Just absolutely beautiful💕 My son hates camping and I wanted to have a more outdoorsy experience with him before we met some friends at our cabin for our annual MI trip and Fernside was the perfect mix to meet both standards. The yurt was so comfy— there was a HUGE storm the 2nd night of our stay the yurt stayed dry, warm secure💕 it was actually kind of cool hearing the raindrops and seeing the lightening. The comfort station is a great touch — well thought out and only a short walk from the yurt. We loved hearing the frogs, seeing the deer and slugs — and It was so secluded! I felt like I was at camp in the middle of a rainforest even tho town is only 10minute walk away! Glenn is a super cute town btw everyone we met was so sweet :) the locals loved petting our hound dog, George and most of them had treats handy lol - which George really liked! the beach is so close and very dog friendly — it is a bit of a rocky beach so it was super nice to swim and search for cool rocks - there are many! All in all this is a great place— close to the beach, town,
Bathroom, coffee and yet still feels like you’re in the middle of the mountains — highly recommend and I can’t wait to stay here again!

We loved EVERYTHING about this stay! (Not gonna lie, we were a little worried driving up the road that it wouldn’t be very private…)
From the ease of their adorable and effective signs, to the simple romance of the tent in the woods, this stay is totally on our return list. We would absolutely stay here again… plus our dog looooved it.

We stayed there early June and the weather was perfect. Not only was it cold enough for cuddles and campfires, we were also gifted with the delicate sounds of rain on our tent each morning. Otherwise take in all the glorious sounds of the wind through the trees, the birds chirping, and yeah, the occasional dog barking or chain saw.
The comfort station was simple yet efficient. And oh so clean! Coffee and filters were provided along with pour over and mugs. The shower had instant hot water and was a perfectly rustic addition to the stay.
Nothing bad to say about this place!
That being said, a couple of things could be suggested:
Two pour overs, instead of one ☕️
Broom inside the tent so we could keep it cleaner (mud was a small thing) 🧹
