Our property is located between Marquette and Negaunee, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We are 7 miles from downtown Marquette, 8 miles from the shores of beautiful Lake Superior and 53 miles from Pictured Rocks National Park. We are about 4 miles off of US 41 nestled in a quiet forest like setting.
We built our home here in 2019 and are continually making improvements to the land. We tap our trees for maple syrup in the spring-you will drive by our "sugar shack" and raise chickens in our very nice coop -no roosters to awaken you!
Come and enjoy some peace and quiet at our Northern Oasis!
There is guest internet but its patchy in camping area-better closer to the house and large firepit area
There is a charcoal grill near communal firepit area.
We are near 2 river basins(McClure Basin and Dead River Basin) for fishing, swimming and boating ( kayaks and canoe for rent on this site-see extras! ) We are on the route of the Ore to Shore Mountain Bike epic and not far from the North Country Trail.
We have options of open sites and a couple more private wooded sites. There are at least two areas for small campers and several choices for tents and/or hammocks..
There is a communal/central fire pit, picnic table area as well as a larger fire pit with picnic table closer to house. We have nice fire wood available on site -see "extras" or for purchase when you get here!
There are yard games, extra chairs and a small table in the red shed. This can also be used as a storm shelter if needed!
There is a "port-a-john" on site- extra TP is kept in red shed hanging on nail in a bag. Please let us know if this needs attention.

The big barn was built over 100 years ago and is still standing.
The farm house was built in 1907.
It has been remodeled with a second story added.
Pine trees were planted to prevent erosion in the 1960's.
The national park began buying land near us in the 1970's and the boundary line to the park is a half-mile from Moonshadow Camp.
The area is surrounded by state forests and many hiking and biking trails.
Our valley is known for incredible stargazing.
Amenities include full access to the Camp kitchen and dining area. You will also have access to a Portable restroom and hand washing station which is located by our BIG BARN. Hot Showers, no problem, you can enjoy a secluded private shower in our shower house which has indoor and outdoor showers. Nearby is Lake Michigan and Esch Rd beach. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore is nearby and The National Park is famous for attractions , trails, and hiking. 20 amp Electricity and Water is included in the RV site.

We have a toilet at the Creekside campsite, but no potable water. There is firewood available for purchase at each site.
We pride ourselves on our biodiversity, especially of birds and insects, and therefore maintain serval large wetlands and do not use chemical treatments in our campsites or woods. However, this means you should be prepared for a significant number of mosquitoes.
**If you bring your own wood please take any unburned logs with you when you leave**
While the farm is sprawling, there are multiple houses across the property so stay on established trails only and keep your noise levels down. This is a working farm, so you may occasionally see trucks or tractors. We are a 20 acre hobby farm along the Grand River in Lowell Michigan. A walkable small town. The river is accessable to small craft. Swimming is not prohibited, but is at your own risk. Several fields are available as well as a small and large tent site along the river. Campers may park in the field.
We are located along the North Country Trail and only a few blocks from their office as well as a 10 min drive from the Kent county youth fairgrounds. 25 minutes to Ionia fairgrounds
There is several restaurants and breweries walking distance away, joined by a social district as well as several cannabis stores. A dollar store and ice cream shop are 2-3 blocks away. And a country style breakfast restaurant is next door.
Have a fire or go fishing down by the river, or visit the animals at feeding time. The donkey likes attention. Fresh eggs are also available for $3/doz

It's situated on 21 acres of what was the original Wawonowin Country Club, a 9-hole golf course that was built in the early 1800s and then closed in the mid 1960s. And now we have a beautiful mix of hardwoods and pines, forests and fields with multiplied non-motorized trails accessible right off the property. The very popular RAMBA bike trails are literally an ‘stones throw’ away! Our biggest site, Fairway Field is big enough for group camping that horse campers love, and one site, the Homestead, with an electric hookup. My wife, toddler, and I went on our first camping trip together and stayed here - and let me just say I’m so glad we picked Shivering Timbers to stay! The hosts were amazing and waaaay accommodating. There are activities for kids, little and older alike that i definitely didn’t expect from a campsite! My toddler said she didn’t want to go do our activities - she wanted to go to the campground and play with the kids LOL! I hope we come back soon! Thanks again! :)

We absolutely loved staying here, it was the perfect location for our trip so convenient and close to everything we wanted to see! Stephanie and Tim were the nicest people ever and made us feel sooooo welcome, they gave us lots of recommendations on things to do and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Literally would come back and stay here just to see them! The site itself was spacious and quiet and made for very relaxing tent camping. 100000% recommend this campsite! (P.S. there’s wild blueberries everywhere which is so fun)

The games are fun - the basic but very functional kitchen is Great! The porta johns were kept nice and clean.
"Warning" that the walk in camping is up hill. We took a large tent and a decent amount of gear - I would be cautious if you were taking a large tent and a large cooler and a table Etc Yada Yada up to teh Amazing SItes.
Don't get me wrong - the site was quite - Beautiful - Pines - Not many if any mosquitos - very cool - Just I didn't really think walking in meant a climb and it took us a decent amount of trips so - fair warning - if you are used to drive in - unload and set up on a flat surface - be prepared for a Little climb of 75-125 feet up hill.
That being said they had a dolly wagon for us! So it was just a little more than a little exercise - but we'd do it again - if that makes sense?
If you are taking a smaller tent - it's like -Not even a Thing.
ALso we took too much Stuff because we could have done without a small cooker which we used only for coffee and the french press and so forth if we had actually trusted the reviews of teh ammenities.
They have Great ammenities!
We were just "dumb"-ish.
My daugter's first time - very family freindly and by design Amazing!

Such a wonderful experience! The Big Oak tree is probably about 300 years old, and the history and energy are palpable. The area is great; about a ten minute drive from the city, and surrounded by crop fields and forrest for quite a distance, so it feels very remote. Exceptionally private, I imagine even more so it being before the final harvest. A great place for a solo camper. So much wildlife! Lightening bugs, chipmunks, turkeys, ducks, and of course Caitlin's adorable dogs! Bugs weren't the worst, but they were there; Along with the fuzzy, spiked caterpillars that you're not supposed to touch (more just a warning for those with kids/pets). I was there for probably the worst time of year for bugs and it was more than tolerable. The trails are wonderful, and go on for quite some time; I didn't explore them all. I had an overall wonderful time here, and will be back, if for nothing else to visit this tree!

I feel like I found a hidden gem.. the Creekside site was PERFECT in every possible way. Well maintained, several trees for hammocking, and I didn’t see another soul the whole time I was there. The instructions to get to the site were easy even with getting there as it was getting dark. I will be back again and again.

Lovely campground! The entrance was easy to find to get to the campgrounds, it was a spacious spot for us to put up our tent, and they even had a game center on the grounds to play yard games in. Bonus points was the very lovely check in where you can pay and they deliver firewood for you. 10/10 would camp here again.

The amenities at Camp Moonshadow make family camping so easy! Having an outdoor kitchen and running water made clean up a breeze, the community fire pit was comfy and convenient with stocked firewood, and there were lots of fun outdoor games on the land for kids and adults to play together! A heated and beautiful private outdoor shower was another plus. We loved seeing the stars at night through the pines in our campsite. Very easy access to Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and great communication from hosts.

Pine Forest is perfect for Hammocking! Camp sites are close to unload location, & parking. Carts are provided for lugging gear up the path. Outdoor & indoor showers with hot water, kitchen with fridge; storage shelves, oven, & running water; Weber grill w/ provided charcoal,l; concrete fire pit w/ firewood; clean picnic tables & clean Port John's make this a near Glamping experience. Would love to stay for longer next time!

I had a great experience staying here for a night at one of the tent camping sites. Moonshadow matched well with the description on hipcamp, and Robb & Jeanne were great hosts - all of my interactions with them were very positive on hipcamp messaging and in person when I met Robb. The location also worked out well for going over to Sleeping Bear Dunes. I'd stay there again if I make a similar trip to Sleeping Bear in the future.

Really enjoyed camping and star gazing on the property! We were lucky enough for clear skies for beautiful views of the meteor shower. So much nature surrounding and lakes to fish in we found so many great places to explore with very few other people around. Lots of wild life! There were only a few other campers when we went so it was nice although if it was more I think it would’ve been a bit crowded as there is no separation between sites. Didn’t interact with the host at all, but everything was very clear and we had no questions. The big house with restrooms and WiFi was super nice and not too far a walk. Would stay again! Make sure u stock up on what u need before you get in as it is pretty remote and far away from supplies.
