We stopped here for the night on our way out of town. I wish we would have had a little more time here. It’s a great place and you can’t go wrong with it. We were there when it was a bit warm so sleeping was a bit challenging but that’s on us. We have a battery powered fan that should have been charging on the way there. Haha. The host was flexible with our needs and we would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you for the great stay!
Absolutely beautiful stay, even with a little smoke. We stayed with our two pups and we had an amazing stay at the bunkhouse. A peaceful retreat and getaway for us and the dogs. We celebrated our pup Milo's first birthday with a grilled hamburger and Carole and Art really went above and beyond with our stay. They had extra water for our dogs outside and really anything and everything you could need for your stay. The trails were clearly marked and we had fun eating wild raspberries and watching the butterflies in the fields. We will definitely be back for another stay sometime, as we could not get enough of it in just two days!
Perfect from booking to check-out!
Our hosts were gracious and welcoming and provided incredible customer service along with detailed instructions for the outdoor shower room’s water heater and other amenities at their (very well supplied) off grid cabin.
We found this quaint log-built gem with its retro fixtures and cozy furniture and marked trail system and lovely back patio and fire pit tucked into a wooded hillside (complete with a firefly display at dusk) so utterly charming that we canceled our waterfront dinner reservations in Frankfort to stay on-site and enjoy this little bit of paradise as long as we could.
Highly recommended. Will be back (again & again!)

This was beyond our expectations and just the most lovely place to unwind and relax!! Our stay was so very comfy thanks to the extra amenities provided. We loved listening to all the birds, walking the trails, spotting deer/frogs/slugs/other creatures and sitting around that excellent fire pit. Our dogs were so relaxed and engaged with everything around us. The outhouse was the cleanest I have ever seen not to mention very cute and the shower is an amazing extra touch. Art and Carole are such caring hosts who clearly love sharing this very special place with others and we are so grateful we got to experience it!!

We had a wonderful time here! Carole and Art are amazing hosts and you can tell they put in extra thought and care to ensure their guests are comfortable and enjoy their time while staying at the cabin. My daughter and I along with our dog spent most of our time outside, cooking over the fire, exploring, and just enjoying the time away as a family. Thank you again Carole and Art, we cant wait to come back! :)
Beautiful cabin tucked away in the woods. Host was extremely accommodating and made sure we were comfortable before they left. Cabin was clean and smelled clean. My family felt safe and rested in the morning.

This cozy cabin in the woods was exactly the peaceful getaway we needed. The starry nights, crackling campfires, and quiet walks through the forest with our dog made the stay unforgettable. The cabin itself was warm, welcoming, and full of thoughtful touches, especially the welcoming basket waiting for us. The propane gas fireplace kept us perfectly comfortable on the cold nights, and the entire space felt like a true retreat.
We loved having time to relax, recharge, and enjoy nature together. This stay was a much-needed mental health reset, and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

This place is awesome!!! The cabin is so cozy and it is clear that a lot of thought has been put into this stay (extra lights, lighters, charcoal for the grill, multiple chairs, condiments, lots of wood etc.). My dog and I were nice and toasty when it got down below freezing. The outhouse was spotless. The fire pit and yard were so charming at night. Lots of trails to walk. The hosts were fantastic and treat you like family. I will be going again
Carole and Art are two of the sweetest, most accommodating hosts you'll ever hope to meet! The amount of care and effort they put into making you feel comfortable is second to none. Like I told them, they thought of everything! Even the doggos and kiddos are made to feel welcome. There were even games for children of all ages to play - outdoors and in. For me, it was a solo trip. Carole and Art's property is so quiet and relaxing and was just what the Mental Health Professional ordered! I highly recommend the Arcala Bunkhouse for individuals, couples, groups, and families alike. The property has hills all around and is adjacent to a tree farm. Everything is so beautiful! I took so many pictures of the landscape and wildlife. I shared the atypical ones in order to not repeat the pictures that were already posted.

Carole and Art met with us and showed us exactly where we were going, it is definitely not on any main roads. It was beautiful and private. The hosts were very nice and helpful. The outdoor shower was super cool to use. The trails are well maintained. We got to see plenty of deer and even a bobcat! We will definitely be returning!
My wife and I had to change our plans last second for our vacation, and what we thought was just a nice little cabin in the woods ended up being a true up-north getaway that we will definitely be returning to! Carole and Al were wonderful hosts, and their property was beautiful. The fireplace and back patio were inviting, the grounds well maintained and easily hike-able, the inside of the cabin very charming, and overall the experience was far better than I could have expected.

This is an excellent place to stay very nice house. Both her and husband are great house and they’re making sure that everything is OK. Show us where the place was and ask us if we needed anything. They were amazing even through the little bit of rain and stuff. We enjoyed the place. Very much. Very nice place. Just to get away and relax with you and your friends. I welcome anyone who likes to be out in the wilderness, just by yourself and relaxing to come joy this place. It is amazing.

The perfect cabin for a getaway. Upon arriving in Manton we met with Carole and Art, two of the nicest hosts we have ever encountered and they led us to the property. Without guidance it would be very hard to find. The cabin was perfect! It was extremely clean (to include the outhouse and shower) and had all necessary supplies in case you forgot to bring anything with you. We had a great time exploring the trails and woods with our doggo over the weekend. Our favorite part of the property had to have been the amount of land available to explore and the outdoor shower. The shower was warm and was such a cool set up. There was firewood available for our use as well as extras like corn hole which we really enjoyed. They provided a snack basket and treats for our pup which was a really special touch. This was the perfect mix between camping and staying in a cabin. We would highly recommend staying here and we plan to come again. Thank you Carole and Art for your amazing hospitality. 10/10
Our family stayed the weekend at Arcala Bunkhouse, and we will definitely recommend it to friends and family! It was such a nice place to stay, with it being close to things but far enough away to feel like a getaway. We loved the quiet, being able to bring our dog, and our kids loved the exploring! Art & Carole were amazing hosts! The cabin was clean and cozy, and the details were not forgotten!
Wow. Beautiful off-grid cabin and property located in the woods.
Upon arrival, the hosts showed us all the features of the cabin (how to work the outdoor shower, where the firewood was, etc). They were very flexible and accommodating.
For being an off-grid cabin, it does have a full size fridge and freezer which was great.
The outdoor shower was a highlight for us. Also — the outhouse was the cleanest, nicest one I've ever seen
10/10. I would definitely stay here again!

We had a great stay! Carole and her husband were very kind and showed us how to get to the cabin. We loved walking on the trails near by with our dog. It was the perfect weekend get away.

What an amazing stay we had! The hosts were wonderful and really thought of everything. Great off the grid experience with wonderful warm showers and a very clean privy. The property is secluded and gorgeous. Exactly what we were looking for and more. See you in the fall!
