Wonderful Campsite

We had such a great weekend camping on Susan’s land! The spot is nice and flat with a short path to the beach. We had our dogs and were able to do daily walks with a beautiful view. Will definitely be coming back!

Susan's property is beautiful. We loved our stay with our infant and two dogs. We had plenty of space to setup our Bean teardrop and really enjoyed the proximity to the ocean. There are a few unoccupied structures (house, cabin, shipping container) on the property but the space provided still felt private and secluded. We'd happily come back and stay here again!

such an amazing spot. i’ve used hipcamp for 10-12 camping spots over the last couple years & susan’s place was by far my favorite. it’s not terribly difficult to get as close or closer to the ocean - but it’s virtually impossible to do so with guaranteed peace & quiet.
my 2 frenchies & i had such a relaxing 3 night stay. we walked to the ocean multiple times a day…dropped trash at a nearby state park as needed…hikes to the lighthouse…& parked so i could work from my the campervan about 10-15 minutes north at a dog friendly beach - clam beach.
all in all…her place was perfect & susan was very responsive & hospitable…& incredibly generous to share her beautiful place with me & the dogs. i can’t wait to come back & bring the wife sometime soon!!

We will return to this campsite in the not too distant future. Just what we wanted. Only a few minutes walk to the ocean and beaches. We walked to Ft Bragg, 5.5 miles round trip with our doggy who loved our entire stay here. Please be aware there is no electricity, water or bathrooms available here.

I love van camping where I can open my door, let my dog out and walk to the ocean to watch the sun come up. Susan’s land is central to some of the most beautiful views in the world. I like to camp away from crowds, this was perfect. I’ll be back soon.

Beachfront, quiet and beautiful

This was an amazing spot! You’re right off the miles long, paved, bike and pedestrian path that stretches from the neighboring state beach to Fort Bragg. Or you can cross that path and your 20ft from a sandy beach. Susan’s beautiful home sits on one corner of the large lot and the campsite is just in front their unoccupied cabin on the opposite side. They keep the site clean and well mowed as well as their walkway to the beach and pedestrian path. The native, beach grasses and flowering shrubs on the property are a few feet tall and are a nice buffer between your site and the pedestrian path, which is still far enough back to feel private but close enough to make for easy access to the beach. It’s a beautiful, safe neighborhood and most people using the beach or trail seemed to be from the neighborhood. We spent one afternoon on the beach and had it all to ourselves. I can see why others say they come back year after year, we will be saving this spot and hope to return as well!

My husband and I camped here with our camper van and two dogs. It was very quiet, had beautiful views and was only a short walk to the beach. Dogs are not allowed on the beach but are okay on the surrounding trails and Mackerricher state park is super close. There are a couple houses surrounding the land and a vacant cabin on the land but it still felt private. Overall I would recommend staying here for a peaceful ocean camping experience.

We had such a wonderful time! It was very peaceful, quiet, serene, and we loved hearing the sound of the ocean. Easy access to the bluff for taking our dog on morning and evening walks. We even saw some whale spouts!!!!

Perfect Location and Wonderful Host

Susan is most gracious. She provided excellent directions and information about the property as well as activities in the area. The location is beautiful! Steps to the beach and a paved trail that hugs the coast with a nice state park to the north and Fort Bragg to the south. We would definitely return! On a side note, we experienced a family emergency and Susan went above and beyond in coming to our aid. I can't say enough about her kindness. Thank you!

Great oceanfront getaway

We had a great time at this site! It was beautiful to see and listen to the ocean right there, tons of stars at night, a short dirt pathway to a trail along the ocean that many people biked/walked along and close to a little beach. No hook ups as described but 1.5 miles up the road at MacKerricher State Park its $10 to dump (card only) and a separate free potable water spigot for filling fresh water tanks which made that part easy at the start and end of our trip. More than enough space for our 21 ft trailer.

oversold, a little creepy! having someone in main house next door but never seen. not well kept, a lot of poorly maintained out buildings surrounded by heaps of scrap lumber etc.
On the positive side, short walk to the ocean and close Mac Kerricher Park! quiet, got a good night sleep!

Campsite as described, nice mostly level grassy area with deck in front of cabin. Five minutes from Hwy 1 with gated entry and on west side of property easy walk to bike path and Virgin Creek Beach. You will see some homes and neighbors but campsite close enough to the ocean to not hear much but the waves on the shore. Lots of birds and a rabbit or two.
Susan was a helpful host. I hope to visit her property again.

Love, love, love this place!

It was my 3rd stay at Susan’s property and it was as magical as always! I stayed for nearly 2 weeks and was able to run off solar the entire time. With MacKerricher park minutes away it was so easy to go dump & refill my tanks as needed. Susan is a fantastic host that genuinely loves to share her amazing property with people who value it.

What’s not to love about 2 1/2 acres, dog friendly, camping spot right on Haul Road. 1 mile to McKerricker, 2 miles to The Brewery. And lots of ocean and the roar of the waves. Hope I can get it again next year!
