Since then, old buildings have diminished back to Earth. What used to be a small creek is now a small pond and trout stream. "The Twenty" is a neat campsite right on the Little Wolf River. This land has been in my family for generations. My dad tells stories of fishing the holes while they made hay when he was a kid. Definitely fishing opportunities, as well as floating down the river (tube, canoe, kayak, sup). There's a nice swimming hole right out from the campsite.
The other property is on my pasture-based farm. It's a few miles from the Little Wolf. There is the "FarmStay" Camper, as well as a couple campsites nestled in the woods with a great views of the pastures, woods, and wetlands.
We've also recently added a pond that's able to be used by our guests to swim in!
There are 100+ acres that can explored on this 100% pasture-based beef operation. We're working on improving the trails. It's beautiful out there!

Est. 1966, the West Fork Sports Club has been a special place for multiple generations of both local community members and people from across the country. Nestled in between two valleys with 3,500 feet of stream front property on the West Fork of the Kickapoo, we truly have one of the most unique campgrounds you'll ever visit. Having avoided glacial drift during the last ice age, the Driftless area boast beautiful valleys, bluffs and rolling hills that you won't find anywhere well in Wisconsin.
We are an Environmental Conservation Club always accepting new members. A temporary membership is included in camping fees and goes toward environmental conservation work and maintaining grounds, free wifi, etc. Our 20 acre property boast 3,500 feet of stream-front class 1 trout fishing on the West Fork of the Kickapoo (a top 100 trout stream in the US). Our entire stretch of stream is fully improved and excellent to fish. We have a healthy native brown trout population. We work with a local school science program to raise and stock brook trout every year. We have resident Sandhill Cranes, Bald Eagles, Oriels, Willow Fly Catchers, Hummingbirds and many other avian species.
Nestled between two valleys, we frequently have stunning sunsets. We are far enough way from light pollution to easily see the Milky Way Galaxy on a clear night. The star gazing is amazing and if you keep your eyes up at night, you're pretty much guaranteed to see a shooting star, if not multiple. The West Fork Sport Club is truly a special campground.
We're a short 15 minute drive from Viroqua which has a lot of great local shops, the Driftless Café (Owned and operated by Wisconsin Foodie host Luke Zahm) and a fantastic farmer's market. We're 25 minutes from Wild Cat Mountain which has extensive hiking trails. There are also two great vineyards within 15 minutes. Even on a rainy day, you will have plenty of fun options.

The English Pale Campground is located along the Black River in Jackson County, 1 mile west of the Village of Melrose. The entire property only allows guests and occupants who are 21 or older. Sites/house can be booked 6 months in advance. The main campground is 70 feet elevation above the river, so the beach access paths have 14% grade change .
We have 5 rustic (no hook-ups) RV/Travel Trailer/Tent sites "up top", a fully furnished “Manor” House, a travel trailer as well as 2 rustic beach sites and 2 rustic river sites that are located along the river. The property is a total of 70 acres, which includes the 4+ acre beach, a mile of river front and trails through the woods that connect them all.
IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION: The river edge erosion wall construction is complete however it suffered extensive damage. The area will need to be repaired this summer (July and August) but not on weekends.
The English Pale opened in 2021 and is a developing property. In November 2025 an erosion wall was built along the Black River. This included clearing of a section of the forest, building a gravel access road using 3" base gravel, and an riprap river wall to prevent further erosion. Since 2016 over 60 feet of the riverbank has washed away.
ATV/UTV/golfcarts are allow to operate on gravel pathways without any permits. This includes up to but NOT on the beach. A permit from management must be obtained for ATV/UTVs to operate ON the beach.
Our property offers a reasonable expectation of privacy and we do not offer day passes as our target guests are campers. We are an adult only property, but not a nudist campground, as that is not our central theme. We do not prohibit our guests from nudity for the purpose of sunbathing on the beach, campsites or sundeck, but nudity is not allowed in general common areas. Part of our nature is allowing discreet nudity for tanning purposes. While we target couples for time together, singles and groups are welcome. This is NOT a party campground, our goal is to let you connect with nature.

The first time we viewed this property, we knew we were home.
The woods, fields, wildlife, and house (created almost entirely from the lumber harvested from the land) drew us in. We purchased the home and 40 acres in 2018.
Since then it has been a labor of love to make it everything we dream.
A campground suitable for horseback riding was the goal for W15266.
This was where the original homestead stood (firepit area).
That home was transported across 95 on Davis road to become an Amish home.
This area was overgrown and filled with rubbish, but still had a great deal of suitable plants hidden in the raspberries. We are continually working to groom it, and eventually, hope to better level the drive and sites and cover them with gravel.
We need more and better fire pits and intend to have at least one more cabin- perhaps created from a refurbished corn crib?
This cabin was refurbished in 2020 from the original homestead’s summer kitchen (where food was prepared to keep the house from getting too warm).
Although it may have been easier to demolish and start over, Julie convinced Craig that the history was worth it. ;) I can’t tell you how disGUSTING it was, but we found treasures like the chair upstairs, the ironing board, and items on the walls and cupboards amongst the piles of Asian beetles and mouse chewings.
Our current project you see in front is the bath/shower house.
It has a toilet and shower and was completed 2021. With expansion, we will add one more toilet on the other side.
The old shed in front, is a disaster.
We fluctuate the same way we did with the summer kitchen: bulldoze or refurbish? It currently houses our equipment and lumber, but someday, we are hoping to have a small country Tiki bar.
Craig has received the liquor license already.
We love tucked away country bars with unique flavors, so we hope we can offer this to our customers.
Jeske Equestrian is also a boarding/training facility.
We built the horse barn in 2019, and last year we put up a 60x180 indoor riding arena.
Maintaining and creating trails has been extensive.
Keeping up on the signage and the trail map has been nearly impossible since Craig loves creating new ones with the skid steer on a regular basis!
We are working on the pond area to be more recreational in our future as well.

My son and I had a wonderful and restorative weekend at Dena’s beautiful farm. The cabin was clean and nicely decorated. Greatly appreciated the coffee and tea! The pre-ordered rhubarb scones from the bakery were awesome. My son loved hanging out with the cat, feeding the sheep and watching the chickens from the screened in porch and picnic table. Provided fans kept the cabin comfortable at night even when it was over 90 during the day. We were 10 minutes from Wildcat Mountain State Park and the Kickapoo valley reserve where we went tubing. Exactly the beautiful yet comfortable camping trip we were looking for. Will definitely be back!

Host is very responsive, please note Hipcamp directions lead you to their farm rather than the campsite. Check out Gills on the Wolf restaurant for great food and outdoor, dog friendly seating. Great location next to amenities of Door County. 15 minutes away from Eagle Tower in Peninsula State Park. Wine and cheese tasting less than 5 miles, food nearby, and beautiful Lakeview vides. Very pleasant place to camp nearby. We are cherry lovers, so there are plenty of cherry based foods here. Would definitely stay again!

Fun campground with everything you need and more. Staff is so nice and helpful. Enjoyed the sports bar, live music band and the food truck smash burger was delicious. Also appreciated the clean restrooms & private showers. Better than a hotel at a fraction of the price. I rode my bike into downtown Sister Bay from the campground, the town was packed with people so it was nice to have a quiet camp with lots of space to relax to return to.

Really enjoyed camping at this spot. While the walk from the car was a little long, it was easy and peaceful. The real gem of this place was the beach access, it was extremely pretty. The pavilion and fire pits were also great and convenient areas for bonfires and cooking.

My son and I stayed in the airstream on the property. He really wanted to see the highland cows and they (along with the goats and sheep) were right across the road. We live on a farm also but he really enjoyed getting to feed the goats and interact with the dogs and cats. The goat feed that was left for us was a nice touch.
The airstream itself was just enough for the two of us. We played some checkers, made a fire, and made tea and coffee (which was provided). I also really liked the little items like bug spray, cell phone chargers and a lighter. We did use all of them. The bed was very comfortable and the comforter thick and the pillows nice.
To get to the bathroom you do have to walk around the front of the building to get to the side where the showers are. The shower and bathroom space was nicely done and very accessible. Overall, if I’m back in the area I’d stay again!

1 night at Amnicon Adventures & Retreats
This was such a great location! It was a quick walk down to the shore of Lake Superior and we could hear the waves all night, which is just what I wanted. The amenities of the fire pits, picnic tables, etc., were convenient!
