we had a lovely time at Dena's Rustic Cabin in the apple orchard (late winter/early spring). It was perfect for a quiet getaway, with no cell service (verizon), in a lovely setting. The stars were abundant. Dena was a lovely host and brought some wood to burn for the cold nights.

The beautiful cabin! We loved learning about their construction process.

3 nights at Fisher Cat Creek Forest Retreat

Veronica and Dave’s Cabin was so aesthetically pleasing and cozy to live in for a few days. They were extremely hospitable and friendly upon arrival. We were there in late January during some cold weather, and even in negative temps at some points, but the wood stove heated the cabin well. We feel very relaxed after this trip, and we would certainly recommend it to people that love nature and living simply.

Weekend Trip to Fisher Cat Creek Forest Retreat

We loved this little cabin so much that we booked a summer stay on the drive home! The details are amazing and you can tell the owners put a lot of love and care into the space. The sauna was lovely, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen is pretty well equipped - we can’t wait to be back. Note that there is no electricity at this site, but plenty of lanterns / solar lights are provided. A headlamp helps!

The camp was very nice. It’s close to the streams we wanted to fish and there isn’t a lot of traffic on the road it’s off of. I’d stay again for sure!

This cabin is a special hidden gem that kept my boyfriend and I warm and cozy during the cold winter night! The design of the cabin is beautiful and the decorations are so cute. Veronica is an amazing host and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back in the future!

This place is really nice! The cabin has wood burning stove that although could get smoky, was a much appreciated touch. We didn't get a chance to do as much as expected but we only stayed 1 night. Maybe we can come back when it's a little warmer. The sauna was nice too. Outhouse provided us with a true camping experience. We are novice campers who love being outdoors. Thank you very much for the wood provided for our fires, would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in a cool little getaway

Weekend Trip to River Forest Campground & Rafting

We had the most amazing and peaceful time at River Forest! The site was lovely with the twinkling lights, and the cabin was so clean and cozy! Amy was kind enough to give us maps, suggestions, and lots of info on where to fish, hike and eat..and Dan was the nicest! He brought a porta potty right to the sight since it was already too cold to use the facilities, and made sure we had more than enough firewood. He also gave us a GREAT food suggestion of a nearby place called Grudgeville Pub and Grub! The food was awesome and the hospitality even better! (Go there!) It was chilly, as we went in early November, but we will DEFINITELY be coming back in the spring and/or summer!!

We are far enough way from light pollution to easily see the Milky Way Galaxy on a clear night. The star gazing is amazing and if you keep your eyes up at night, you're pretty much guaranteed to see a shooting star, if not multiple. The West Fork Sport Club is truly a special campground. We're a short 15 minute drive from Viroqua which has a lot of great local shops, the Driftless Café (Owned and operated by Wisconsin Foodie host Luke Zahm) and a fantastic farmer's market. We're 25 minutes from Wild Cat Mountain which has extensive hiking trails. There are also two great vineyards within 15 minutes. Providing a historical backdrop is a fully restored Norwegian cabin built in 1894 (completed July 2022). Adjacent to the greenhouse is 2 RV (or tent) sites with full water and 30 amp hookups (Meadow Camp East and West). 2 additional sites accommodate RVs or tents. (Hill Camp and Sumac Camp). One of which is a very large area that is ideal for groups (Sumac Camp). Lastly, we have 1 walk-in tent site, the most private (Pine Camp), a short distance into the woods behind the greenhouse. Don't let our sleepy little town deceive you. The locals have huge hearts - are generous creatives, with ingenious businesses that spill over with hospitality. Uber local is 2 Amish businesses within a 15 minute walk - a bakery and a woodworking shop. We're happy to direct you to other local highlights: on-farm meat sales, herbal apothecary, goat milk products, home goods, local microbreweries and quilt shops to name a few. A private sanctuary with 30 acres located just north of Waupaca's Chain O' Lakes with groomed hiking and/or biking trails. Terrain is varied with ponds, hills, and valleys. Shower, potable water, and rec room available. PLEASE NOTE with heavy rain all wheel drive (AWD) is needed to park next to your site. If you don't have AWD, there's parking by the rec room. We can transport you to your site if there are issues. Firewood is available for purchase in addition to a 24 x 32 rec room/storm shelter. Kayaks and SUPs available to rent too! The rec room offers a fun room full of games (ping pong, darts, and other fun games) and a living room area with multiple TVs. We have a kitchen area with a refrigerator (no water) with snacks, pizza, and beverages available. Head into town for shopping, coffee, and baked treats. Twin sisters, Darla and Kayla, and their families live across the road from each other and own the surrounding 140 acres. We have paths all around the property, so feel free to respectfully explore.- You can't see the highway from this site, but you can hear it. It's super handy to be able to hop out of your campsite haven and onto the hwy, but be aware that you will hear vehicles.- There's a Mississippi river boat launch a few miles down the road, so feel free to park your boat at the bottom of the quarry driveway.- The Hay Creek riding trails are 25 minutes away, so contact us if you want to set up a place in the quarry to park your horses and trailer for the night. - We are certified to sell meat straight off of the farm (Twin Folk Farms), so contact us if you want to purchase your meat and have it delivered to your campsite. Or if you enjoy hiking, the Nichole National Forest is minutes away. You can relax on the front deck of your tent cabin or sit by the campfire. We are a small country bar & grill. We have a great Friday night fish fry, or try our famous chicken dinner, or one of our homemade pizzas, we have wraps, sandwiches and more. We are located 1 hour north of Green Bay, WI. The tent cabins will be open May 1st through October 31st with a shower room available. There is limited heating available in the units. Please plan accordingly. Due to the somewhat limited internet access at the camp sites, we may be unable to respond in a timely fashion to your email.
