Our 9 acre wooded lot is a quiet, secluded, woodsy retreat perched above the beautiful Chippewa River. The shallow river is perfect for wading, tubing, paddling & fishing. The undergrowth is a carpet of ferns & native plants. Birders will love this spot. We also encourage bringing your dog friends.
We have several fire rings and encourage responsible campfire hangouts. *Please do not bring firewood. We provide dry wood & dead fall may be used for campfire, but ABSOLUTELY NO CUTTING from live trees, please.
TENT site: Tent site is pretty basic-- it fits one large tent (12'x15') pad and has a fire ring, a cooking grate and picnic table. While it does not have electricity, there is an outlet on the property to charge phones, etc.
BATHROOM: Our well maintained outhouse is a short walk from the tent site, and stays stocked with TP. It also has a solar light for night-time visits.
CAMPERS/VANS: We have 30 Amp electric hookup available for small campers! Bring your pop-up or pull-behind. Intermediate trailer-backing skills are necessary to reach the camper site.
*We do not allow hunting, shooting or ATV riding on the property. Archery practice is Ok however.
** As we continue our A-Frame cabin build, you will see some construction clutter. We will never be working during your stay, however - you'll have the place to yourself unless otherwise agreed upon. Feel free to view the cabin from the outside but please do not enter the structure.

This is a very private location. In its former life this property was a limestone quarry. Evidence of it's history remain with high rock walls on both ends of the property. In the center of the property is about 5 acres that is flat and covered with wildflowers and small trees. There are several good options for camping in this area. Surrounding this area is another 15 acres of hills and trees. We have a scenic overlook open to all guests where you can relax and sit on a wooden swing while enjoying the beautiful view of the Mississippi River below. There is a boat ramp just a mile down the hill for boating or fishing on the Mississippi and the city of La Crosse, WI and La Crescent, MN are each only about a five minute drive. Great River Bluffs State Park and countless other recreational opportunities are just minutes away.

The host did a great job of communicating clearly where to go to get to the site. The Quarry is a great place if you want to camp in the woods with no amenities and to rough it, which is what I was looking for. I really enjoyed my stay as it was exactly what I wanted.

We loved camping in Erica’s quarry! The views were beautiful and there was a state park 10 minutes away for even more beautiful views of the Mississippi River. Even with a couple other groups on the property, it was quiet and secluded in our little corner. The end of the drive was marked with a camping symbol and the instructions provided were clear. Would absolutely come back.

It was as described in the listing. The porta potty was very clean when we arrived. There was plenty of space between the sites for privacy. One thing that I was hoping for that didn't happen was to sit on the bench swing at the top of the Bluff with the Beautiful view, because it was broken. Erica did inform me that it was not yet fixed when we arrived. Also I think some should be aware that there is a steep gravel road that heads to the Quarry site. We did have to use 4 wheel drive to get there. Other than that it was great. I would recommend.

If you're looking for a secluded and private spot to set up, this is it. I was in La Crosse for a work conference and wanted a quiet camp instead of booking a busy conference hotel. The Quarry is only 15 minutes from La Crosse and we enjoyed relaxed nights by the camp fire with nobody nearby, no road noise, and nothing but the owls and crickets. We unfortunately never crossed paths with Erica, being busy and away during the day, but her communication and care was very present.
Funny side note, my partner's father knew exactly where we were staying, having grown up in the area in the 60s. I'm sure it's under much better hands now!

I did not get to take advantage of the complete property due to recent flooding in the area. Our host made this issue very clear to me before I came up though. My wife and I were exploring Janesville and just needed a place for the night. It was a perfect weekend. The weather was so nice. It was so quiet there. The way the campsite was set up allowed the wind to just go straight through our camper. I was greeted by a couple of wagging tail camp ambassadors while walking the driveway. They were very friendly. I would definitely go back if i had plans to be in the area.

Erica was a very friendly, accommodating, and communicative host. Our camping spot was easy to find, private, and absolutely gorgeous! I’d love to come back again. The porta potty was nearby, and very clean. We had plenty of space for 3 motorcycles and 2 tents, with the provided picnic table and fire pit. It was so peaceful to see the stars at night and wonderful to really feel like you’re actually away from it all, just you and nature.
