Previously a 100 acre century farm, this fertile land was tended to by generations of old time farmers. Their dairy cows pastured in areas which we now graze sheep. The restored quarry provided gravel for the nearby highway restoration and local projects.The property is currently a mix of hay ground, cropland, pasture, forest, and quarry. Twin sisters, Darla and Kayla, and their families live across the road from each other and own the surrounding 140 acres. They keep busy planting/tending trees, making hay, moving fence for grazing animals, operating a farm business called Twin Folk Farms (pastured meat, camps, etc), and raising their families.Learn more about this land:- This site is at the edge of a restored quarry, sheep pasture, and wooded hillside.- The site is tucked down a flat mowed path, so it feels very private and protected. - You can hike up a path to the sheep pasture. We have paths all around the property, so feel free to respectfully explore.- You can't see the highway from this site, but you can hear it. The honey bees are humming in their boxes, rooster crowing and chickens do their daily forage through the yard and woods. This is a birder's delight with turkey and deer being very common sightings. Our unique greenhouse and pergola are common use areas for all guests to enjoy. The pergola is a large cushioned area providing shade to read a book, charge a device, play cards, enjoy a beverage, eat a meal. Rustic Log Cabin Retreat

Enjoy a stay at our rustic log cabins nestled 1/2 mile back from our residence in the peaceful woods of our family's 160-acre 5th generation farm. The fall is a very special time of year here with the maples and oaks. There's nothing better than sitting around a campfire on a cool fall day or evening. There are two log cabins, one of which doubles as a place to cook maple syrup in the spring, a pavilion and an odor-free "outhouse". We will only rent to one group at a time, you'll just have to choose which cabin site(s) you want. The group limit is 9 people. Hike the trails meandering through our woods, sit around the large campfire, take a relaxing nap in the hammock, watch sunset down one of the trails, or the many activities of hiking and mountain/fat tire biking groomed trails at nearby Levis/Trow Mound, fishing, kayaking, horse trail rides, and The Highground Veterans Memorial Park is a mile up the road. The pavilion has a large log picnic table, Blackstone griddle, a charcoal grill, and refrigerator/freezer. The pavilion and Sugar Shack cabin have solar power. The Sugar Shack has a small gas stove and oven. The Cozy Cabin does not have solar power yet. All rentals include use of the pavilion and "outhouse". There is no WiFi but there is good cell phone service. Bedding is furnished for cabin stays. Wood is furnished. Charcoal is furnished. We welcome your furry friends, but no more than 2 dogs. We politely request no children under 7 in cabins, and then all children over 7 supervised at all times while in cabins. 2 night minimum; 3 night minimum on holiday weekends such as Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend, and 4th of July if it lands on a Friday or Monday. UPDATE: The gravel road down to the cabins is completed and smooth. Neillsville is located just 2 hours from St. Paul, MN; 2 1/2 hours from Madison; 2 1/2 hours from Green Bay.
