We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey.
The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups!
Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi.
About the campground:
The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins.
There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊
The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

This special place has sweeping views, including a stunning shot of Mount Rainier on clear days. Surrounded by forested land including a park preserve, the land is usually quiet and fairly private. A great place to watch birds, access multiple park trails by foot, or just enjoy being outside in nature. If you plan to bring a dog, do check which trails do and don't allow four-footed friends. There are old fruit trees on the land that give plentiful fruit (most years) starting in August, and depending on the time of year you'll also find blackberries, huckleberries and salal berries. (Do watch for sporadic spots of poison oak but they are few and far between.) Plenty of spots to set up tents, as well as two van-designated camping spots separate and not in eye-shot from tent-camping meadow. Serving all is an outdoor/covered low-tech compost toilet tucked into the trees a couple minutes walk from the meadow. There is also a spigot near the parking area with hose where you can rinse off dishes, gear etc. If you'd like to drink this water, we recommend filtering it first. A public swimming hole on Lake Florence is a short drive away, along with beaches. Check back with us in the future as well, because we have big plans for additional amenities.

Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. Inside, includes couch, queen bed, twin bed, fridge with chilled water, freezer, microwave. Nicely heated in winter and stays cool in summer. Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. Guests love it here: "What a nice surprise! I was not sure what to expect staying on a horse ranch, but it was everything I could have hoped for and more. Kristy was an awesome host and there was one other group up by the rv pad, but we hardly saw them. Dogs were very friendly and Kristy let us use a propane fire-pit to provide warmth and a fire for our tent site. The bathrooms were clean and there was some water by our site, but we did not use it.
The camp, for the tent site… we arrived and she drove us all over her property and told us to just choose where we wanted to camp. We chose to stay in back of the horse area. While we could see the house from there, we didn’t care and if you want to move back in the woods further, there are spots back there too that would provide more privacy if you need that. This is a great site and a one of a kind experience being that close to the horses."

Glass containers/bottles, cigarettes/joints are not permitted outside of your campsite. You agree to dispose/recycle your own waste. Pack out what you pack in. Do not harm the wildlife. Dogs must be leashed (6ft max leash) at all times and cleaned up after immediately and cannot be left unattended in your Campsite. Speed limit throughout the campground is 5mph. Please do not park along any of the roads; they must be kept clear for emergency vehicles.

Please note, this is HARSTINE ISLAND, NOT HERRON. I haven't gotten Hipcamp to fix this yet. There is a bridge to the island and the coordinates offered for site are correct. The map says beach shore Rd but the physical sign says Klondike.

Beautiful peaceful forest with trails, a great spot for elopements (elopement package separate) and a beautiful meadow with a small ringed fire pit for one site and a movable fire pit for another.. 2 meadow sites in 5 acres, a forested tent sight coming. 70% of the Island is forestry but sound DOES carry a long way so it's not dead-quiet.
Harstine Island has a BRIDGE, no ferry!
One hammock is left up in the forest and there are places for your hammocks to be hung, as well.
There is one spot on drive that is between two trees so you need to go slowly and be careful, 9 foot wide at wheel base only. Please take note of this. Easy for cars, a bit tricky for some trailer/RVs. Photo and video can be seen on webpage.
Types of wildlife include barred owls, a nighthawk usually in summer can be seen at dusk, western alligator lizards, warblers, robins, crows, wrens, a bear has visited before (lucky me heard it 'woof' at me, bear didn't appreciate my singing), deer, others have seen red fox in the past but we have not been so lucky. Birder's paradise. One lovely review calls it a great place for forest bathing!
Puget sound is SO clean here with a diverse salt water life. Orca and Humpback have been spotted nearby. You can track them at Orca Network or Puget Sound Whale Sightings on Facebook. Frequently people have seen orca making rounds with the incoming tide going under the bridge and circling the island! There is Jarrell Cove state park and a boat ramp at Latimer's Landing Boat Launch few miles way. There is a great local market at the community center Saturdays from 10-12 in the summer. No water view, this is heavy forest off a gravel drive into privacy. No power, no water, pack it in pack it out.
Please be careful of deer when you are driving in and observe island speed limits. Familiarize yourself with the personal fire extinguisher at the site.

The best experience and outcome I could have asked for when taking my 2 month old child on his first glamping trip.
Immediately when we arrived for our 2 night trip, and my wife saw the inside of the dream dome, she said “maybe we will stay for an extra night”.
I felt the same, it was beautiful and very well curated.
After reading the welcome card I found out the dome was created to help promote dreaming; after staying for two nights, I can say, my wife and I did dream vividly both nights~
The provided entertainment items such as tarot cards and board games were a fun nighttime activity
We did bring our own grill but there was provided grill in a pit for cooking that looked like a nice set up. Ample chairs and a table also sat outside the dome. The provided power and water for bathing and filtered for drinking was a nice amenity.
The beach access is just fine, just coordinate with the host and make your way past a guest house to access it, this is a multi use property so don’t expect to be completely alone, but it is much much more secluded and serine than a camp ground
The host was incredibly responsive and warm, quick and efficient to remedy anything I needed help with, though everything was already thoughtfully provided and ready for my use when I forgot an item.
The whole time we stayed we spoke of looking forward to coming back over the years and watching the grounds evolve as our son grows. Very cool place for rest, rejuvenation, and recharging. We will be back!

I attended a breathwork session here and stayed at the dome for two nights on sort of a short personal creative retreat, while taking care of some business in Olympia.
Amanda is a caring and responsive host, and the dome is cozy. I used the trailer kitchen and outdoor shower as well, both clean and functional.

This place is amazing! Pictures don't quite show how close it is the water. It is very relaxing place with a wonderful porch to sit on and take in the view of the water and forest. The bed is really comfortable too! The host is very responsive and helped us locate things in the kitchen we wanted to use. We were only there for a quick one night getaway from the city but hope to be back soon to enjoy the outdoor shower and more!

We loved skoolie camping at Owl Glade with our family, friends and dogs. The site is a large open meadow surrounded by very tall evergreen trees. Plenty of room for our skoolie and two tents. A clean portapotty was provided as well as a portable fire pit, a table, and firewood. The trails through the forests were a welcome contrast to the open fields.

Amanda’s geo dome was perfect for a weekend getaway. Everything was stocked well, the area is beautiful and peaceful and access to the water made for a beautiful paddle at sunset. We were visited by barred owls at night and seals on our paddle. It was perfect. Amanda was quick to answer any questions. We will definitely be back.

We loved our stay! John was there at the start of our trip to give us a tour of the property.
The play structure is solid, has something for most kids, but is definitely high! Our 2 and 7 year old loved it, but some supervision was needed to make sure our 2 year old stayed safe.
The bathroom was squeaky clean and the outdoor shower lovely.
Bring mosquito spray, there are quite a few mozzies out there at the moment.
We loved going to the beach and did a little hike close by. Key has a cute coffee shop (the Mustard Seed) and a well stocked grocery store. The campsite has tables with parasols and chairs, comfy chairs with pillows for when you are supervising the playground, a picnic table and benches, running water at a sink to do your dishes and a big table made out of sheet metal to place your cooking gear on.
The camping spots were shaded and spacious. All in all we loved it very much. There is also a little walk to do at the property. Highly recommend this for families with kids, lots of space to kick a ball around, play on the playground, make a campfire and after an outdoor shower tuck your tired out kiddos into the tent in the shady tent areas, than hang out for the stars to come out (and hear the coyotes howl)! Excellent choice for our family!

We had an incredible stay! If you’re looking for privacy, unbeatable views, and a family-friendly spot, this is it. The big meadow made the whole space feel massive and gave our toddler plenty of safe room to play and explore. Anderson Island was fun to explore with lots of parks and exploration opportunities. Plus the majestic views of Mount Rainier in such a quiet, open setting was the cherry on top. Highly recommended for families!

We had such a great time at Hoopla Camp. The site was wide open, clean, and beautiful. Such a beautiful short hike to the Beach. Great directions given, and met with our hosts who were super kind and helpful. We had everything we needed.

Beautiful spot! The drive there wasn’t bad. The island roads are paved, there are hilly dirt/ gravel roads on the property. They were all okay for my 2 wheel drive van. The property itself was very cozy and tucked in the woods. There were adorable christmas lights strung across the trees which we thought was a great touch. The trail attached to the property leads through a magical state park. Most of the trail was a breeze but I will warn that not everyone may make it to the beach as the trail gets very steep at the end. We couldn’t make it all the way down with our tiny dog but it was a great hike regardless! The owners were very nice and communicative. We really enjoyed the fresh eggs. :) The portapotties were fine until I realized that there was no blue solution at the bottom of the tank. Which meant it got pretty smelly after multiple uses. Other than that everything was great. It was a super cozy and chill spot. Thank you Carrie/ Carries husband! :)

As I stated last year, this was a beautiful spot that was close to everything and remote enough to be very peaceful and relaxing. Bettye Anne communicated well and the instructions were easy to follow. We will likely return again if we are in the area next year.
