The Guemes North Homestead is ten acres of gorgeous tall trees, clearings, homestead buildings, pond, trails, renewable energy gear, and more, set in the middle of the north end of Guemes Island, at the end of a 1/3-mile dead-end driveway. It includes a 30-year-old orchard, a developed garden with fine soil, a pond with rope swing and waterslide, several solar and wind energy systems, and multiple buildings. It's about a mile in two directions from the Pacific Ocean beach, and is surrounded by wooded acreage that is criss-crossed with trails and friendly neighbors, on an island with about 700 year-round residents and an active weekend/summer population. Homestead owner Ian Woofenden is an expert in renewable energy systems. He's lived off-grid at the homestead for 40-plus years, where he raised his large family and managed several small businesses. He now consults, sells, writes, and teaches about renewable energy in the U.S. and in Central America. If your idea of a great getaway is to help out and do physical work, just ask Ian. There's always something going on at the homestead, including garden and orchard work, trail building, wood cutting, construction, sawmilling, and more. Her latest venture is raising a small flock of Gotland sheep.Learn more about this land: I have a campsite in the woods close to my pond At the pond you may see ducks, swallows, kingfishers, herons and many other visitors. I even had some otters the other day. It's very quiet and peaceful here. There is a row boat available for rowing around. Although the pond isn't as full in the summer as in the winter, you can still dive off the bank on the deep side. Depending on the season, some fruits and vegetables will be available for purchase. Small campfires are allowed as long as there isn't a burn ban on which is common in the late summer months. I will have some fire wood available for sale. You may visit the sheep through the fence but are not allowed to go through any gates. I will be happy to give a short visit for petting and learning about the sheep for a fee of $10 if I am able to arrange a time for that. This year I have 8 adorable lambs. The beach is at the end of the road. Guemes Island has lots of beachcombing. Guemes "mountain" has nice hiking trail with a dramatic view from the top when the weather is clear. The Guemes ferry leaves from 6th St and I st. in Anacortes and ruins frequently during the day. The schedule and fares can be found on the Skagit county website.

Chuckanut Hills Farm & Camp

Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way to the Salish Sea. This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years. Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

Welcome to The Landing at Index - located on the South Fork Skykomish River, in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains, off of Highway 2. With 16 acres of beautiful, private woods and breathtaking views of Mt. Index, this is a wonderful getaway to kick back and relax after your day of adventures, or just to escape the city rush. The campsite is at the bottom of a rugged drive so an SUV or AWD vehicle are recommended, especially during the wetter seasons of Spring and Fall. When the property was logged approximately 100 years ago they scooped out gravel from the river to make their roads in the area thus creating the back eddy lagoon along the beach. The Department of Fish and Game have a fish ladder at Sunset Falls just upstream and BNSF railroad owns the large vacant tract down stream.A rather peaceful setting, including the rushing sound of the river and the occasional whistle of a train. It is just me and an occasional worker operating the property so you may see us weeding, milking goats, feeding farm animals, or watering some of the many gardens. You are encouraged to participate in activities on the farm and children are welcome to do the same. We are 5 minutes from Bailey's Corner Store, Whidbey's best burger joint, which has great music various nights of the week, and Ogres Brewery which also has great entertainment and beer. Langley and Freeland are each 20 minutes away.

The Chuckanut Rock

Watch the sunset into the world famous San Juan Islands. Our property is located on the scenic Chuckanut Drive. It is a 15 minute walk to Taylor United's Seafood Bar that has beer and wine. You will need boots just below the knee, or hiking shoes that will get wet. The Creek crossing is a little deeper this year. You will also be crossing a muddy area for about 20 yards, you will sink about 3 inches into the mud. The hike into the campsite takes 12 minutes. You need to contact me to check the tides, as to be able to get to the campsite. We need to hike in below a 5 foot tide. Starting October, the campsite closes for winter. Again , this campsite is Tide dependent. The first question to me should be, What is the latest we can hike in? I am not Moses, I can’t part the sea.

There is also a regularly serviced Honey bucket at the park access. Bikes are a great option for exploring the island and the surrounding area including all that Edison has to offer just a few miles away. Site includes a designated parking space, two large decks with a pergola, gazebo, timber table, firepit and adirondack chairs for enjoying the view. we are best setup for tent campers w/ single vehicle, trucks w/ slide in campers, vans etc. We CANNOT accommodate travel trailers at this site! No power/water/bathroom facilities Friendly pets are welcome, please pick up after your furry friends and keep them on leash or long line *firewood/bikes/kayaks/paddle boards not provided The residence is not currently occupied and we are starting repairs and renovations on the back buildings later this year, so you may see me in/out some days as I base my construction business from the shop at the back of the property Please enjoy the private campsite area and refrain from exploring the back of the property or other buildings.

Yes, we are within walking distance of Deception Pass State Park and we border Pass Lake. This amazing Hipcamp is located on just under 17 gorgeous acres, with amazing water and forest views. This breathtaking location is extremely unique, because we are surrounded by Deception Pass State Park. Therefore, we are extremely fortunate to have the state park, so close to our Rosario Camp & RV location. Wildlife: When it comes to wildlife, you will wake-up to the beautiful and rejuvenating melodies of a plethora of wild birds, chipmunks, squirrels, woodpeckers,, etc. During your stay, you will cross paths with deer and various other wild animals, in this very natural and pristine setting. Vegetation: While enjoying your stay at Rosario Camp & RV, you’ll also enjoy a medley of flora, such as the Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Pacific Madrone and many other native trees. In addition, you’ll be able to taste absolutely delicious in-season wild berries, view Pacific Bleeding hearts, vine maples and many more different types of vegetation, native to Northwestern Washington. Many Fun Activities: In this location, you will have so many spots to enjoy various water sport activities , which include: Pass Lake (no motors), Bowman Bay, Lake Campbell, etc. At our beautiful Hipcamp location you’re, literally, in the middle of it all. If you’d like, you may choose to walk, bike, moped or drive across the street (Rosario Road), to Deception Pass State Park, to explore various views and go for absolutely amazing hikes. You may choose to go on long mountain bike rides, with breathtaking views of Deception Pass Bridge, Bowman Bay and more. Perhaps, you’ll choose to rent a paddle board, canoe, kayak, boat or simply bring your own. There is scuba diving and scuba diving classes available, in the area. How about going on a fly fishing adventure, for stocked cutthroat, rainbow and/or brown trout (15”-29”+), at beautiful Pass Lake. If you’re interested in yachting or fishing the “big water”that is also an option, in the area of Anacortes (A-Town). There are many different tours available, at and around Deception Pass State Park, on land and/or on one of our area lakes or in the big water. You MUST use the address for navigation. 4729 Schwarzmiller Rd, Lake Stevens. Once you start down the gravel driveway, continue down past the main house, down to the red barn. I'll be there at the red barn then will guide you to your campsite. Ok, so, we're on a total of 30+ acres, with over 1,000 feet of the Pilchuck River running through our property. Your choice of a sandy beach, or a rocky beach, as well as forest land to explore. We often see deer, hawks, bald eagles, blue herons, beavers, as well as other wildlife living on, or roaming through our beautiful land. Feel free to float the river, enjoy a picnic, host a bbq, put in a game of horseshoes, roam, explore, or simply lay in the hammock all day. We're just a few short miles from the falls @ Granite Falls, as well as many local hiking trails. Or, if you prefer the lake, we are just a couple minutes from beautiful Lake Stevens. Of course dogs are welcome, however we ask that you keep them leashed as to avoid potential conflict with other guests or pets. On that note, 5'x5' kennels are available upon request, if you would like, for a small fee. Firewood bundles also available onsite. Lastly - DO NOT use the coordinates that Hipcamp provides. Tward the end of july the river starts to recede opening up more possibilities of having interaction with the river. That being said its crucial you keep an eye out on your kids. We had a guy out here who almost killed his kids multiple times underestimating the current. Watch out!!Kinda going for the peaceful, listen to the river and birds, vibe. Would rather there be no music and if there is then super low and off by 7

My 30 acre farm has two campsites, both allow pets and campfires (outside of burn bans). One campsite is a beach on the North Fork Stilly, it is shaded most of the time, the sun lovers can paddle with their kayak or wade across to sunbath on an island across the river. tent campers can locate their car or truck on dike and move their supplies on to camping area.. trucks with campers can set up right on dike over looking the stilly. Rigs can set up in the field by the dike!! The second campsite is on 4 acres you will have to yourself by a creek; Rhodes River Ranch Restaurant is walking distance away to go enjoy dinner; the Whitehorse trail for biking or walking is only a mile away; Enjoy the view of Whitehorse and three fingers mountain. Lake Cavanaugh is nearby, and regional activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, paddling, wind sports, and off-roading. Our guests love staying with us: "Our stay at River Side was wonderful! The campsite is very large, with a picnic table and great little beach area. If you're looking for a nice and easy get-away from the city, especially for larger groups, this is the perfect place! Rhonda is very communicative and a great host. Chuckanut Hills Farm & Camp

Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way to the Salish Sea. This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years. Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.
