What a beautiful spot and so close to the city! Lake access was great, there is a road to walk down where you see cute little cabins and as a woman I have to say- the bathroom was the best part 😂 no bugs, self composting, toilet seat covers, lol it was so great. They even give you a fire pit that keeps the fire going and a little sink/kitchen station. The hosts are so personable and it was a wonderful stay. Looking forward to next year!

This has been my BEST Hipcamp trip ever! The site and amenities far exceeded my expectations. There is a very nice dishwashing station complete with potable water, a beautifully flat tent spot (that would accommodate three tents easily), and a state-of-the-art compostable toilet house. The host was terrific, only checking in a couple of times - lots of privacy! The river was easy to get into and a wonderful place to wade and even swim for my dog and for me. I can't wait to return!

Mt Index Sanctuary site hosts have thought of everything you might need to camp! We had a great time tent camping. The cozy, protected campsite was perfect for exploring and relaxing with our one year old. The new compost toilet is truly state of the art, the sink with running potable water, the meadow with Mountain View- everything was outstanding.

This was a really beautiful spot with everything we needed, and the location was perfect. Close to a really calm part of the river, close to hikes, close enough to town if we needed something, beautiful views. The hosts have done a wonderful job making a beautiful, peaceful campsite. Especially great experience for our two dogs, as it was not crowded and well maintained. The pups were able to explore freely (under supervision) without fear of cars or dangerous spaces. 4th of July note for future campers: If you’re planning on coming on the 4th, be prepared for A LOT of fireworks directly next to you. (Not exaggerating on how close they were!) This is a great choice for the 4th if you love spectacular fireworks displays and getting in the holiday spirit, but not if you’re leaving the city to get away from the fireworks/ have dogs who are sensitive to the sound. We were unaware this was happening until after arriving, and had to have the dogs in the car with classical music playing from 9pm to 11:45pm. Despite that, our first night was very serene and we had a really wonderful time! We’d absolutely recommend this campsite to everyone!

I’ve had this spot saved for a while hoping I could snag an open weekend. So worth the wait! T provides detailed info, responds quickly and doesn’t make you wait. Meets you at the access gate and provides a tour of the property and answers any questions. Sappy Hollow is spacious and they provide a solo stove, firewood, an outdoor kitchen with running water and a bbq grill with charcoal. I always carry my own portable bathroom even when one is provided because they’re usually not in good condition. This one was incredibly clean and even smelled nice! The site feels private but nice to be able to walk around the property, have river access with amazing views and a nice walk through the communal area with the mountain in the background. Already searching for another weekend to make it back out!

The site is a beautiful peace of land it feels very secluded and private even though there is another site close by. And T has made everything as great as he can there's a very clean two composting toilet outhouse that is shared for the two sites. At camp he's added a sink with a small counter for cleaning dishes! Super helpful 👌 there's a nice solo fire pit and a charcoal BBQ as well! And nice picnic tables. Green grass and lots of trees for shade. A short walk down to the river bank this is a very special place and I'm so happy to have found it. I really wish all camping sites would be like this. Thank you so much for letting us enjoy your beautiful property and keep up the good work you rock!

This place is incredible. The sites are beautiful with space and privacy and shade. There are new composting toilets that are super nice. The river is easy to access with a big sandy area for kids to play or to chill without having to get wet, and the shore is very shallow for quite a ways out. There was a sink at each campsite too, which was another unexpected surprise. The hosts were so helpful and kind. I want to say you should book this site as soon as you see it available, but please don't, because I'm going to book it again!

wow, just one of the best camping experiences I've ever had. camping site is pristine and well equipped with solo stove, bbq grill, and 2 large tables. The portopoties are clean. there is potable water nearby. down the hill is access to the river. the host is friendly and communicative. i will book for next year.

We loved our stay at the Sappy Hallow. It is nice and private with convenient sanicans, sink and portable water. The river access is awesome. The downhill to the river is very manageable with river call and stunning views. We stayed with another couple and their daughter, was a perfect spot for two small families and dogs. It's clear a lot of attention and care was put into making the property accommodating.

We had an absolutely amazing time at Mt. Index Sanctuary. From our secluded campsite to the incredibly clean bathrooms, access to running water and a sink, beautiful land, and of course, the highlight of the trip, the completely private riverside experience. It was also great to have a campfire in July. Our host Travis was informative and super gracious. We can’t wait to visit again six out of five stars.

This site was absolutely beautiful! The campground was clean and well-maintained, and each individual site came equipped with both a grill and a solo camp stove which was such a great bonus. Firewood and charcoal were readily available, which added a thoughtful touch to the experience. The restrooms were clean, and there was a convenient sink located nearby.
The walk to the river was short and easy, and the views once you arrive are truly unmatched, absolutely stunning. Travis was incredibly responsive and quick to reply to any questions. He also gave us a great tour upon arrival, which made it easy to get settled in.
We had a fantastic time and will definitely be coming back! Thanks Travis!

Amazing property and accomodations! The grassy plains site we stayed in was plenty of space for our group, lots of privacy, and easy access to the bathrooms and a short walk to the river, we loved it! The trees surrounding the site provides great shade on a hot summer day. Also T made it a point to offer help with anything we needed to make sure we were taken care of! Beautiful views in every direction! We will definitely be back again!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience in the Sappy Hollow site at Mt. Index Sanctuary. Complete privacy (the second campsite was vacant during our stay, but it was far enough down the road that you'd have a sense of privacy in any case), all the amenities were in excellent or brand new condition, the port-o-potties were well maintained, there was a nearby sink with potable water we could use, and the river access was a pleasant 5 minute walk away. We also loved the "meadow" just adjacent to the campsite which provided a view of Mount Index and two picnic tables. I highly recommend this location and am sure we'll return to it in the future!

We loved our 4th of July camping trip! The campsite and private community felt very safe. Our dogs loved being off leash and playing in the river. The campsite was very clean with very minimal if any car traffic. T was very welcoming and willing to help if needed. I especially appreciated that there was a porta potty by the river and another one available right by our campsite. Would totally come back especially for the views!

Highly recommend! Travis has made a beautiful spot with thoughtful amenities. We spent an afternoon by the river, had campfires in his solo cans, and were able to easily walk to the trailhead to visit bridal veil falls. He was attentive and thorough. Some rain. Some mosquitoes. Just bring what you need. And binoculars as it is truly a bird sanctuary.
