I am going to be in early this year because of the lack of snow. I am going in March 22nd. I have taken the block off of the Gers and the camp sites. Once the gate is unlocked I will post it here that the gate is infact unlocked. We could still get some snow so communicate with me in the messages before you make a booking.
8 campsites and 2 original Mongolian Gers.
The season for the camp sites is from June 1st to end of Sept and the Gers for 2025/2026 winter are blocked out from Nov 15/25 to May 15/26.
Pets allowed, toilets on site, campfires permitted when burn ban is not in place. Now up until this year I have provided Free Firewood. I have quit doing that for a variety of reasons, the least being the cost and the work for me. I am encouraging everyone to purchase a Propane Fire Pit if you don't have one by now.
I am not to the point yet of saying no big dogs. Talk to me if you think your "big dog" might not fit in. I don't like them running thru other campers sites, so just be respectful. Take them for walks along the lake.. No Yappers, no barking dogs, no pain in the butts.
Why would you drive by 46 grocery stores and forget to bring ice?
No loud music. I have changed quiet time to 9:00 PM. If you need to listen to the chaos/stressful music I suggest you start a band or become a DJ.
What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”.
Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen.
I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven.
Then there is the silence.

Beautiful, quiet, isolated, yet easy to find spot on East Lake. Close to Bend and LaPine. Lots of ducks and other birds, chipmunks, and we could hear other critters roaming around at night. David was a lovely host. Would definitely stay again.

Everything about our stay at David's was incredible, starting with him. After pre-arrival instructions/how-to from him, he greeted us upon arrival to give us a lay of the Ger along with a lay of the land. He is a kind, straight-shooting man with an INCREDIBLE story (I'd encourage a chat with him). The Ger and the land were amazing. We had everything we needed for an elevated and unique camping experience within the Ger. Outside, David stewards a prime lakefront beach property, idyllic in so many ways, not the least of which is it's quite serenity. I'll definitely be coming back and encourage you to visit.

Great site! Effortless check-in/check-out. Morning view of the canyon was priceless! Many farm animals on the property along with some guard dogs. Very close to Smith Rock!
Bring ear plugs if you don't want to hear the dogs barking through the night. Other than that, great stay!

We had so much fun sleeping in the yurt at East Lake. David was a welcoming host, and he was so unique and fun to talk with too. His property is so special. The boats and paddleboard were fun and it was fun letting my dog run. He loved it; definitely in his element as a lake dog. The yurt was well equipped with everything you could need to cook and it was clean and comfortable. Obsidion speckled the roads and was fun to collect. May daughter and I walked along the edge of the lake all the way to the resort, which was so peaceful and fun. The camping area seemed so fun too- lots of space. The energy was really special. We want to go back and stay longer! Hopefully next summer!

I had such a relaxing time at David’s little slice of heaven! Porter potties were clean, there was canoes, paddle boards, and little boats to borrow as well. David lent me a wine opener and checked in on me after the storm that rolled through. Highly recommend!

Such a quiet, peaceful, beautiful site. David is a very hospitable host, his dog Stormy is very sweet, porta-potties are clean, and we enjoyed getting to use the kayaks and boats available on the beach.

We had an absolute blast at David's incredible property. The lake is gorgeous, and the entire area in and around the Newberry Caldera is stunning. We're a mid-forties couple (no kids) and prefer a quiet tent camping experience - David hooked us up with a lovely, isolated campground at the far end of his sites, which was perfect for us. There were a number of spaces on the other end of the beach which were excellent for families, groups, larger vans, and pop-up campers. Something for everyone! The available watercraft loans were a fantastic perk. We were there for a week, and were able to get both ice and propane resupplies from David when we ran out, rather than driving into town (which isn't far - we just didn't want to leave!). The bathrooms were clean and incredibly well-maintained. 10 out of 10. We will most definitely be back!

Beautiful private river to swim in with gorgeous mountain (?) backdrop. If you’re an animal lover then you will especially love this site. Tons of friendly and beautiful animals to visit! If you’re a carnivore then you must check out the dream fridge of ranch meats. John and Hoss were so friendly and generous — if I am ever in the area again then I would love to come back. 10/10

What a unique and fun experience! I've enjoyed camping at David's property before, but this was our first time staying in the Ger. It has everything we needed for a quick overnighter. We made use of the BBQ on the deck as it was quite hot to cook inside. The access to the private Lakeshore and the water is lovely!

This place was beautiful! From the moment we arrived, it felt calm, peaceful, and like the perfect little escape. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He gave us free firewood, showed us around the ranch, and even let us meet and pet all the animals (which was awesome!). Being surrounded by that beautiful scenery was so refreshing, and getting here was super easy. We’re already talking about our next trip back. Couldn’t recommend it more!

We had a great time in The Osprey yurt. It is well equipped and a cozy place to spend the night. The kitchen is well equipped and it has a fire pit on the deck that is great for smores. The host was very friendly and offered water and other supplies. My daughter said the portapotty was the nicest she had ever seen and it did indeed smell very clean.
We enjoyed the boats that are free to use, walking the beach, and finding obsidian.

Enjoyed the stay for 2 nights, definitely felt safe by the river and left for Bend for the day for some paddling and came back feeling okay about leaving our tent. The river was a bit low because it's summer but that's fine we weren't planning on paddling in there to begin with. Everyone we met at the farm/camp was friendly, there were a lot of animals around from the farm, also at night just a lot of wild animals/bird sounds and a big storm passing overhead. I'd recommend for anyone planning on seeing Smith rock or just wanting to camp somewhere wild that's not a forest for a night. There was a guy fishing down there in a parallel site. This is not like camping in the forest where you have silence and trees, this is camping out in a very wild field with a river and at night occasional headlights of cars passing by but that part's not so bad. All of the camp sites appear to be right next to each other and there's a single portapotty. The host was nice, he came down and said hi and chatted a few times. I appreciated the stay overall but maybe not the place to get away to "fix your marriage" or something. :]

This place is absolutely amazing, directly on the lake in the Newberry Volcano caldera. Obsidian everywhere! The host tried to put us in a more private spot since I told him we were sensitive to noise. I misunderstood his directions but it was still great. Hope to come back again down the road.
