Learn more about this land:Our tree-house, built by Pete Nelson of Treehouse Masters, aired as the African Safari Hut.  The professionally designed interior is filled with African artifacts.  It was designed to be a writer's cottage for Skeeter who is an author and an African historian.  Skeeter and Jacque love having guests stay at the treehouse, especially writers and artists looking for a retreat to work on their craft.  

With few exceptions, the treehouse is available for stays of 3 to 10 days.

Malaney Creek Farm

MCF is situated 12 minutes NE of Shelton Washington with secluded wetlands nested against the SW shores of Spencer Lake. Covering over 124 acres MCF offers terrain from grassy fields to heavily wooded forests and an abundance of sanctuary wetlands.  Being surrounded mostly by private timberlands expands the remote feeling this location has to offer. More than 3 miles of  maintained trails deliver single track/ pedestrian/equine pathways to wider trails joined by a main trunk trail large enough for vehicles.
Malaney Creek meanders through a cool grassy tree lined meadow where a 40 year old wooden bridge serving the main driveway can be viewed. 
Established in 1977 as a resident farm, MCF was once rich with an old growth ceder forest feeding a cedar mill and railroad built by early settlers of Mason County. Remnants of the old growth giants still remain.

This 40 Acre parcel has been in my family since the 1870's when my Great^4 grandparents homesteaded it.   For the first 50 years or so, It was used as a hay field and cattle pasture, but it has been managed as a tree farm ever since and we are still doing periodic selective harvests.    It was handed down through the paternal family to my Great Uncle, who passed away in 2013 and deeded it to my 2nd cousin in the will.  My Dad and I bought it from my cousin, who lives in Arizona, together.  Then my Wife and I bought my Dad out with our share of  the profits from our first commercial thinning.Although I plan to do some minor harvesting in the future, I no longer intend to do any clearcutting.  Selective harvests only.  I hope that campers will make ample use of windfalls and other debris to keep the fire risk low.  I also use the property as a release site for wildlife caught as part of my urban nuisance wildlife business.

Grey Owl Hollow

Once a working farm, Grey Owl Hollow sat fallow for over 20 years.
In 2017, Seth left the corporate world and he and Yvonne dedicated themselves to the stewardship of this charming locale. 
The densely planted lumber forest was trimmed and thinned, allowing deer and other wildlife migration while providing shady campsites for nature lovers.
Seth has begun planting a redwood grove in the high meadow and Yvonne is adding hazelnut and walnut trees to the 80-year-old apple orchard.
Grey Owl Hollow is in trust and is intended to remain a nature sanctuary for future generations. Our 20 acre piece of heaven includes a fir tree forest for cool camping in the heat of summer. Romp with your dog through the rolling meadow, meditate or play in the 35' labyrinth and - in early fall - help yourselves to blackberries and apples in the orchard. Black-tailed Columbian deer are regular visitors, while coyotes, owls, and frogs may serenade you in the evening.
We are firm believers in the value of time in the woods as a balm for physical, psychological, and emotional distress.  Seth, your host, is a certified Forest and Nature Therapy guide, and two-hour guided walks are available as an extra with your booking.At Grey Owl Hollow, we are dedicated to providing a delightful camping experience with whimsy, wonder and tranquility.

Ravenshouse

My husband and I were looking for a beautiful secluded spot away from the city, but close enough to it, to be able to reach our clients. After a year of looking we found Ravenhouse on beautiful Harstine Island located in the Puget Sound. 40 miles from Olympia and 85 miles from Seattle.  There are 3 state parks on the island, great kayaking and boating on the island. Come chill, create or just do your thing. My husband and I are filmmakers and we love to hear new stories, but we are busy and will always respect your privacy and be respectful of your space.Learn more about this land:Stay in our yurt!  On our secluded property on Harstine Island located in the Puget Sound.  Surrounded by cedar, firs, pines, apple, pear, and fig trees. Quiet and Serene a perfect getaway to regroup, chill or create. Dragons Gate Gardens & Wilds

Tenino, the area we are in is where the First Nations People used as the Gathering Grounds.  The Europeans when they came with their railroad chose to continue that tradition. Tenino is ground zero for the measurement of where one is on the railroad.  We fell in love with our farm with its much untouched acres (not know any chemicals for the last 30 years) to create a place where people can gather and reconnect with life's natural beauty.

We are certified organic, Salmon Safe certified, and pesticide free.  Dragons' Gate Gardens is home to many giant crystals and here their beauty works delightfully with the land.   

The area has gently rolling hills filled with wildflowers during the earlier part of the Summer. Dragons Gate Gardens and Wilds has a hundred and twenty acres to explore.

 The Skookumchuck River is a little over a mile away where you can enjoy a waterfall and walk along the river with low bank where one can get into the water. Doing so is a great favorite of our guests.

There is a giant crystal housed in a gazebo that overlooks the surrounding fields and woods. Time to meditate with the giant crystal in the gazebo can be booked with Kathleen for a fee  of $55.

We are wild and woolly. We provide a place to experience nature as it simply is. We privilege pollinators above human aesthetics.

 Wildflowers abound, including various dandelions which many are edible and healing plants.

 We encourage converting from lawns to meadow lands being supportive of wild birds and insects. If you like it wild we are the place for you. This is not a resort or English style garden. Tall grass, wild flowers and trees fill the land around you to give you a feeling of full immersion in Nature.

Moon Meddow is a lush grassy green area surrounded by tall evergreen trees.  You can make your camp out in the open field or tucked into one of the many alcoves surrounded by trees.

Was a bit cool the night stayed, woke up to frosted grass outside my door. Was beautiful!
