Before you book a reservation at the Moose, there are a few things you should know.
Our hope, and the reason we opened Lost Moose Campground, is that our guests would have a friendly and fun atmosphere away from life's hustle and bustle where everyone has the opportunity to relax, enjoy nature, and explore north Idaho with their family and friends.
Our campground is remote and it does take a little more time and effort to get here. While most of our guests repeatedly tell us it's totally worth it and it's just what they were looking for, others have let us know that they would prefer to be closer to the Interstate and the amenities of "civilization."
We just want everyone to be happy!
So, before you book a reservation, we want you to know a few things about our campground that way you'll know just what to expect when you stay at the Moose!
• Lost Moose Campground is located 8 miles south of Interstate 90. Getting here includes 6 miles of gravel road that can be a little bumpy at times throughout the year.
• There's no cell service or wifi at the campground. A landline is available for emergencies and cell service can be found often when traveling nearby roads and trails.
• Due to our proximity to Latour Creek we do not have sewer hookups or a dump station. All RV Sites are equipped with power and water hookups and toilets and hot showers are available.
• The nearest grocery store is approximately 12 miles away, the nearest gas station 11 miles, nearest dump station 11 miles, and the nearest restaurant is about 12 miles away. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Coeur d'Alene or Wallace.
• Latour Creek provides a great place for kids and adults alike to cool off in the summer, but it is not suitable for kayaking or floating. The Coeur d'Alene River is only 8 miles away and is well suited for those activities.
• Crystal Lake trailhead is approximately 12 miles above the campground and is accessible by car. The Mirror Lake trailhead is also accessed about 12 miles above the campground, but includes a narrow jeep road that isn't suitable for vehicles not designed for off-roading.
• The Trail of the Coeur d'Alene's bike trail parking area is 8 miles from the campground at the junction of Latour Creek and I-90.
• ATV's can be ridden from the campground. There are no formal maps of our area, but we are happy to help give directions and suggestions for great places to ride.
SO MANY THINGS TO DO
Most of our guests come stay with us to get away in the wild. When you are out and about on the trails, chances are you'll see moose, elk and deer - if you're lucky you may even see a bear! It's a real rarity when we hit the trails and don't see at least one of the above!
• IN CAMP
Play in the river, do some fishing in the creek, play horseshoes and corn hole, eat ice cream, explore the surrounding area, relax, build a campfire, etc.
• FROM CAMP
Enjoy access to hundreds of miles of ATV/UTV trails directly from camp. Take off upstream or downstream and fish all day. Huckleberry picking in season only a few miles away!
• OUTSIDE CAMP
Bike trails, kayaking or floating the river, fishing, water parks, theme parks and area attractions.
Fun urban adventures are within an hour of the campground!
• SILVER MOUNTAIN
Try mountain biking in the region's best lift served bike park, go for a scenic gondola ride, hike to the fire lookout on Kellogg Peak or just settle in for some huckleberry ribs and listen to live music at the mountain house grill. How about a round of mountain golf at Galena Ridge, or grab some pavement bikes from Silver Mountain Sports and hit the 72 mile bike path that runs right by our parking lot. Silver Rapids, Idaho's largest indoor waterpark, takes weather out of the equation by creating a perfect 84 degree, football field-sized location to splash, swim and surf on the perfect wave! The sky is the limit at Silver Mountain!
• THINGS TO DO IN COEUR D'ALENE
There’s something for everyone in Coeur d’Alene. Area activities and attractions range from the free and family-friendly to thrilling outdoor adventures—and just about everything in-between.
Summer in Coeur d’Alene is filled with epic attractions! Parasail rides, zip-lining, boating, float planes and of course the northwest’s largest theme park! Winter brings lit-up streets, dinner boat cruises, miles and miles of ski runs, warm indoor water parks and plenty of warm food and hot music acts.
• OLD MISSION STATE PARK
Coeur d' Alene's Old Mission State Park contains the oldest building in Idaho. The Mission of the Sacred Heart was constructed between 1850 and 1853. It is also the headquarters for the 72 mile paved rails to trails bike path that goes from Mullan to Plummer, passing through several historic towns and meandering along the river.

We're nestled in the pines, just off the highway. Our property is on a deeded piece of land within the Spokane Indian Reservation. We are 5 miles from Lake Roosevelt and the Fort Spokane boat launch. Lake Roosevelt is known for its excellent fishing, and is the only lake in Washington state that contains walleye! A small motel was built on this property back in 1998 and is consistently complemented on it's clean rooms and peaceful setting. Starting SEPTEMBER 23RD until OCTOBER 31ST every weekday we host hundreds of school kids on the farm. They start arriving around 9:00 am. If the sound of children's laughter drives you absolutely insane, you might think twice about booking a stay with us in the fall.
Winter camping is available, please note we typically receive a lot of snow.
Early spring is the extreme mud season, please be cautious of our soft ground and stick to the roads.
July-August can get very dry some years, which means the grass goes dormant and dust starts to fly. Farm=Dirt
MAX STAY IS 14 DAYS.
No Side by Sides (UTV's), dirt bikes, or ATV's allowed to be rallied on the property. We can suggest close spots to rally.

Agriculture 101: In the early spring, fruit trees awaken from winter dormancy, bloom for a few weeks, and are pollinated by insects; the pollinated blossoms SLOWLY develop into fruit over the summer. Easy access from I 90 but not nearly close enough to hear it. Campsite sits 500-600 feet off a county road with a easy driveway and plenty of turn around space. It's a basically level area with several options for how to park. Large pine trees provide shade but let plenty of light through. There is filtered road noise, but the crickets and coyotes are the main thing you'll hear at night.

We had the best long weekend at Clagstone. The site is everything you would need camping . Clean and quiet and a great place to hangout. Rich gave us a call when we got in and offered firewood and a fire pit and told us some spots to check out nearby. Then checked in with us when we left and made sure everything went well . If we ever go to Idaho again we will definitely be staying there. It was the best long weekend getaway where we could relax and hangout . Nicest camp spot we’ve been to so far! Thanks Rich!

As a, Van life traveler this was the most perfect campsite situations I could think of. I mean, if I owned a home with an extra plot next door, I would do the same thing! This was perfect for our van and so easy. It was quiet, peaceful, and highly recommend it to anybody passing through!

This is a small(by MT standards) working cattle ranch that also keeps some chickens. Be prepared to be surrounded by curious cows and awakened by the rooster. We also had a bull expressing its frustration at not being allowed in to service the cows(yet). Views are beautiful. Site was easier to level RV at than looked like it would be- not an issue at all. . Feet of you and your pets get muddy in the wet sawdust and hay. That are more prevalent than green grass in boondock area, at least in mid April. We have a Keystone Cougar 25 FKD travel trailer and a 1 ton Denali. We wouldn’t advise anything much bigger going down the curved driveway to the boondocks sites, but the full hook up sites are on pavement, level and do not involve any curved road. On the plus side there is an extraordinarily friendly cat, cute week old calves, and whole place reminded us of where we lived for 20 years before moving into town. Our corgi enjoyed the cat and the cows even though we were careful to not allow him under any fences. Barbara was friendly and communicated quickly and pleasantly. There is good potable water easily available. We didn’t try the farm fresh eggs because 2 different people at home had brought us some in exchange for extra strawberry plants I was giving away. There are only 2 of us and we don’t eat as much as we used to now that we are 75 and 81 years old. We were only boondockers there April 20.

Beautiful, idyllic family farm with roosters, chickens, pigs, geese...and of course lots of pretty fruit trees. The owners are hospitable, warm, and go out of their way to make sure you're enjoying yourself. Homemade handpies and apple butter, as well as an assortment of other delectables, are available from their cute farm market; my breakfast handpie was even delivered to my tent site! They have also gone out of their way to set up a whole area for kids with see saws, merry go round, and basketball chute. The weather was perfect for the weekend and I walked down the street to another establishment, the big red barn, a bar where evidently sometimes they have live music, which sadly wasn't happening while I was there, but it was picturesque anyway. Great, safe, spot to pull in for an overnight stay (or longer). Beautiful view of the river below and close proximity to town. Too bad it rained the whole time I was there, would have liked to sit out and enjoy the view.

Super grateful for Steve’s Hipcamp. It is conveniently located quite close to the 90 but far enough away not to feel like it! The site is flat, drive-thru, has hookups/potable water, and was absolutely perfect for us as we were passing through.

Cute place! Adam was great. We loved the trees and how quiet it is at night. A few minutes drive to fish lake as Adam suggested and walked along part of the walking path. That was awesome and the lake was very pretty. We had plenty of room for the Arab and truck. Great little weekend get away. Thanks Adam!

We LOVED this spot! We camped in our 30ft class C. Each of the spots (there are 3) we would have enjoyed. Rich called us to make sure we had everything we needed. Full hookups was wonderful. He provided a firepit and trash cans. We were sad to leave and can't wait to come back.

It was the cutest camp site I'd ever been to. It was very peaceful and everyone was very helpful and respectful of the spot we chose to camp in. Everyone was always smiling and waving hello to us as they passed to do their work. 10/10 recommend!

I have an RV and parked next to the garage for 50 amp service. I loved it here. Listening to the cows and chickens, even the rooster in the morning. The view is amazing and the host was very kind!
