You will need boots just below the knee, or hiking shoes that will get wet. The Creek crossing is a little deeper this year. You will also be crossing a muddy area for about 20 yards, you will sink about 3 inches into the mud. The hike into the campsite takes 12 minutes. You need to contact me to check the tides, as to be able to get to the campsite. We need to hike in below a 5 foot tide. Starting October, the campsite closes for winter. There is no turnaround and you cannot drive off the front of the pad. The hookup is raised about 2 feet off the ground to enable gravity feed. 09/13/2024 Update: The forest clean-up project has concluded, and replanting has already been done. The property is not as it was before, and it will take time to be in a desirable state; however, if you are interested in having a safe base camp for your travels and don't mind the current status, I would be happy to discuss accommodating you. 04/20/2024 Update: We have been patiently waiting for a forest clean-up logging project to begin, and it has officially started. Our property has a large number of dying trees, so this is necessary to ensure the overall forest health. However, it will unavoidably disrupt the look of the property for many years to come. We will be replanting next February. For those who wish to use the property only as a safe base camp near mountain biking trails, I’ll happily invite you to stay, but if you’re looking for a picturesque forest setting, you’ll want to check back in with us in a couple of years. ----- This 21-acre forest with a large beaver pond is classified as a class-A wetland. In addition to this, you can find a shallow creek, beaver dams, old growth forest, and a phenomenal bird habitat. Find privacy and quiet except for the songs of many birds and woodpeckers. The property is minutes away from Blanchard Mountain Trail head. There are numerous biking and hiking trails within a short distance, and while we aren't yet at the point of building trails here at the property, that will be coming shortly. This property was once a show home, but a fire occurred over 10 years ago and the house was not rebuilt. While the remaining ruins are minimal, it sets an exciting backdrop; perhaps it can be the scene for a mysterious photo shoot. We have been actively working on cleaning up the property, but there are occasional spots where we find leftover fire debris that the previous occupant scattered throughout the property. If you find such a spot during your stay, please let us know. Within the property is a small orchard with apples, blueberries, blackberries, grapes, and plumbs. While you are welcome to graze during your stay, we ask that you not harvest a great deal to ensure enough for everyone to enjoy. There are fish in the pond, and though fishing is allowed, we can not claim what type or ease due to the nature of the plant growth. It is not stocked and is only fed by the area's waterways. I have been asked several times if the fire ban is still active. Yes, it is. There is no longer access to a hose, so being able to quickly put out a fire in case of an accident is also more concerning. Sadly, with the last several years of intense summers, our area is likely going to be at risk of drought again this summer. If you are interested in reserving the entire property for a completely secluded stay, please contact me directly. That option is $175 for a party of up to 20 individuals, but no more than 2 camper vans/RVs and four additional cars per night.

Care for safety must be taken on the river edges as they are steep in places, the glacial water is very cold, and it has a strong tidal current and hidden undertows. Life jackets are strongly recommended for any activities on the water and we discourage swimming. We are located just 65 miles north of Seattle and minutes from I-5. We are located 6 miles south of "downtown" Chimacum which is the home to the Chimacum Corner Farmstand (the best natural foods/organic grocery store in the world), and Finnriver Farm and Cidery (a lovely family-friendly place!). Our farm is a convenient spot to launch off of for your Olympic National Park adventure! There are some insanely beautiful hikes nearby and we are about 2 1/2 hours away from the coast. We are right off the main highway which means you will unfortunately hear some car noise mixed in with the birds and goats, but bring some musical instruments and you won't notice a thing! Our campsite is a grassy patch down in the valley nestled under a large spruce tree next to a goat pasture. If our male goat is in that pasture, you may get occasional goaty smells, but that is just part of the farm life :) We have a picnic table, chairs, fire pit, electrical outlets, and a porta-potty available a short walk away for campers to use. Your campsite is the only one on the property. You may see us farmers going about our daily tasks, but we will make sure you have your privacy.

The property is not as it was before, and it will take time to be in a desirable state; however, if you are interested in having a safe base camp for your travels and don't mind the current status, I would be happy to discuss accommodating you. 04/20/2024 Update: We have been patiently waiting for a forest clean-up logging project to begin, and it has officially started. Our property has a large number of dying trees, so this is necessary to ensure the overall forest health. However, it will unavoidably disrupt the look of the property for many years to come. We will be replanting next February. For those who wish to use the property only as a safe base camp near mountain biking trails, I’ll happily invite you to stay, but if you’re looking for a picturesque forest setting, you’ll want to check back in with us in a couple of years. ----- This 21-acre forest with a large beaver pond is classified as a class-A wetland. In addition to this, you can find a shallow creek, beaver dams, old growth forest, and a phenomenal bird habitat. Find privacy and quiet except for the songs of many birds and woodpeckers. The property is minutes away from Blanchard Mountain Trail head. There are numerous biking and hiking trails within a short distance, and while we aren't yet at the point of building trails here at the property, that will be coming shortly. This property was once a show home, but a fire occurred over 10 years ago and the house was not rebuilt. While the remaining ruins are minimal, it sets an exciting backdrop; perhaps it can be the scene for a mysterious photo shoot. We have been actively working on cleaning up the property, but there are occasional spots where we find leftover fire debris that the previous occupant scattered throughout the property. If you find such a spot during your stay, please let us know. Within the property is a small orchard with apples, blueberries, blackberries, grapes, and plumbs. While you are welcome to graze during your stay, we ask that you not harvest a great deal to ensure enough for everyone to enjoy. There are fish in the pond, and though fishing is allowed, we can not claim what type or ease due to the nature of the plant growth. It is not stocked and is only fed by the area's waterways. I have been asked several times if the fire ban is still active. Yes, it is. There is no longer access to a hose, so being able to quickly put out a fire in case of an accident is also more concerning. Sadly, with the last several years of intense summers, our area is likely going to be at risk of drought again this summer. If you are interested in reserving the entire property for a completely secluded stay, please contact me directly. That option is $175 for a party of up to 20 individuals, but no more than 2 camper vans/RVs and four additional cars per night.

The Group Camp features a huge central wood fire pit with cooking grill, and 7 adirondack chairs/2 side tables that overlook the river. Two-8' picnic tables and a 3' X 4' serving/buffet table give plenty of seating for meals. Just minutes away you can walk to the river on a private trail. During the summer months there is typically a long sandbar. You will find stunning views in every direction with partial shade under towering cottonwoods. For safety purposes, a camp fire is allowed only in the provided fire pit. This site has space for 2 recreational vehicles (20' or less) or up to 3 tents. Current COVID restrictions apply for group size/composition. Our family has great respect for the beauty and power of the river. Care for safety must be taken on the river edges as they are steep in places, the glacial water is very cold, and it has a strong tidal current and hidden undertows. Life jackets are strongly recommended for any activities on the water and we discourage swimming. We are located just 65 miles north of Seattle and minutes from I-5. This is your landing spot to explore all of the Skagit Valley, from the San Juan Islands to the Cascade Mountains. 09/13/2024 Update: The forest clean-up project has concluded, and replanting has already been done. The property is not as it was before, and it will take time to be in a desirable state; however, if you are interested in having a safe base camp for your travels and don't mind the current status, I would be happy to discuss accommodating you. 04/20/2024 Update: We have been patiently waiting for a forest clean-up logging project to begin, and it has officially started. Our property has a large number of dying trees, so this is necessary to ensure the overall forest health. However, it will unavoidably disrupt the look of the property for many years to come. We will be replanting next February. For those who wish to use the property only as a safe base camp near mountain biking trails, I’ll happily invite you to stay, but if you’re looking for a picturesque forest setting, you’ll want to check back in with us in a couple of years. ----- This 21-acre forest with a large beaver pond is classified as a class-A wetland. In addition to this, you can find a shallow creek, beaver dams, old growth forest, and a phenomenal bird habitat. Find privacy and quiet except for the songs of many birds and woodpeckers. The property is minutes away from Blanchard Mountain Trail head. There are numerous biking and hiking trails within a short distance, and while we aren't yet at the point of building trails here at the property, that will be coming shortly. This property was once a show home, but a fire occurred over 10 years ago and the house was not rebuilt. While the remaining ruins are minimal, it sets an exciting backdrop; perhaps it can be the scene for a mysterious photo shoot. We have been actively working on cleaning up the property, but there are occasional spots where we find leftover fire debris that the previous occupant scattered throughout the property. If you find such a spot during your stay, please let us know. Within the property is a small orchard with apples, blueberries, blackberries, grapes, and plumbs. While you are welcome to graze during your stay, we ask that you not harvest a great deal to ensure enough for everyone to enjoy. There are fish in the pond, and though fishing is allowed, we can not claim what type or ease due to the nature of the plant growth. It is not stocked and is only fed by the area's waterways. I have been asked several times if the fire ban is still active. Yes, it is. There is no longer access to a hose, so being able to quickly put out a fire in case of an accident is also more concerning. Sadly, with the last several years of intense summers, our area is likely going to be at risk of drought again this summer. If you are interested in reserving the entire property for a completely secluded stay, please contact me directly. That option is $175 for a party of up to 20 individuals, but no more than 2 camper vans/RVs and four additional cars per night.

Two-8' picnic tables and a 3' X 4' serving/buffet table give plenty of seating for meals. Just minutes away you can walk to the river on a private trail. For safety purposes, a camp fire is allowed only in the provided fire pit. This site has space for 2 recreational vehicles (20' or less) or up to 3 tents. Current COVID restrictions apply for group size/composition. Our family has great respect for the beauty and power of the river. Care for safety must be taken on the river edges as they are steep in places, the glacial water is very cold, and it has a strong tidal current and hidden undertows. 1 night at North Wind House: Historic Cascadia
Reg’s hundred acre wood is a charming mix of huts and outbuildings new and old. The vegetation overgrowth and misty air conceal various construction materials and antiques around the property. Dishes and coffee are available, and the BBQ worked as long as you can squeeze into the narrow place where it’s situated. The washroom is cute, the kitchen is slated for demolition, and the cabin we stayed in was warm. Reg was enthusiastic about showing us around the property, and introducing us to the sheep.

After a few nights of camping in the rain Tyson’s Hipcamp was just the reprieve we were looking for! The property was easy to access, had plenty of amenities, and Tyson even had a fire going for us when we got there! Tyson was super helpful and easy to communicate with. Van camping in the Nook at Elwha was quiet and peaceful! The hosts were super accommodating of my last minute vehicle change and helped me find a place that would fit a large campervan. The bathroom was warm, which was perfect for showering after a week on the road, but also a bit far from my campsite (an oversight on my part). I’m not sure if this is normal, but both porta-jons near me were locked- didn’t have a chance to ask the hosts about it since I was mostly away during operating hours. Having WiFi was a nice surprise, which helped me stay in the loop about events planned at the fungi festival. Overall, Very nice amenities and hosts!

Reg is friendly and check in was very easy. The place had everything we needed and the space heater worked very well even on the lowest setting. The area is beautiful, particularly the little grotto area down the hill. I think it's an excellent stay especially for the price.

Reg has created a very cool space on his property. We loved staying in the analogue room, it felt very private and the bed was really comfortable! There’s a cozy washroom with a clawfoot tub and hot water and a kitchen both only a few steps away. The property itself is stunning! Lots of hiking to explore and a volcanic grotto that had some of the most incredible rocks I’ve seen. This place is magic!

I spent six days on the farm in late September, and it was excellent. Such a beautiful, special place. I loved being neighbor to the goat men, and having my morning coffee in their company. I highly recommend the farm tour; it was awesome to have Grace show me around and tell me the farm’s stories. So good!! Also the soap. I really really loved the goat soap. :)

We had such a great and relaxing time here. The site is wonderful and had full hookups. The animals are awesome to watch and interact with. The area is so quiet and peaceful. We had a great campfire going that the host made for us. We ended up having the whole area to ourselves, which was extra amazing. We will definitely be back!

We tent camped on site T18. The signage was amazing and we never felt lost, unlike at some other HipCamps we have been to. The facilities were clean, showers hot. Plus, our car battery died and the owners came out and helped us at 6 in the morning, which just shows what good people are running this place. 10/10 would recommend and definitely plan on coming back next year!

We stayed at Wandering Joy for 4 nights, and I am so glad we did! Erin was so nice, came and chatted with us and shared information about the land. The campground was easy to find, and very close to Lake Crescent. The campsites are cozy and just the right size for 2 people. The porta potties were spotless, and the campground was quiet and peaceful. We saw little critters and stargazed, followed a trail in camp through an old growth forest, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you Erin!

It’s absolutely perfect. The in a beautiful area, clean campgrounds, and the cleanest porta potty’s I’ve ever used ! It’s about 10 mins from the absolutely amazing and beautiful Crescent Lake and about 30 mins from town if you need any last minute supplies, but there is also a General store directly next to the campground. The sites are perfect, wonderful area for your tent(s) and equipped with a picnic table and fire pit!! I absolutely cannot wait to stay here again.
