I had been searching for over 2 years for a property where I could make a difference in the environment and live in the wilderness. I was looking for water on a large tract of land that was remote. In 2017 I found the perfect property and to my dismay it had sold 2 days before I saw the listing. I was shocked because this was the perfect property. In my 2 years of searching I knew exactly what I wanted and this was the property. It had a private lake with fish. A solar cabin with a flush toilet and hot shower. The cabins 8 foot windows faced West for magical sunsets and view of the storms that roll in from the coast. It was beautifully treed with just the right amount of open meadow and forest with Hemlock, Ponderosa pine, and Larch. How could this property be sold? I tried to let it go but thought about it for the next year. After a year and a half had passed and my search continued I came across an advertisement for this magical property, it was up for sale again. I called the real estate agent immediately and found that an offer had been made but the buyers could not commit for 5 more months. I made an offer that day not really knowing how I was going to pull off the money. I knew this property was meant for me. I wrote the owner a letter explaining that I was a land steward and that this land would never be developed. I would be putting it in a land trust where no developers could put up condos. The owner happened to be a environmentally focused human and he ended up selling to me. Come to find out when I had first saw the property sold a year and a half before, that transaction had fallen through. The owner had just taken it off the market for the winter. The Paradise Ranch Camp was very good for our overnight stay. The location is super convenient to visit the North Cascades, so easy to find and to park. AND! It has good Wi-Fi. We liked it lot.

Weekend Trip to Nirvana Gardens

We really loved our stay at Matt's cabin, which was so homey and comfortable. The solar cabin was easy to use, and we had plenty of energy for all of our needs. The cabin sits on a very quiet 100 acres, and we had a blast playing around in the lake and running around the property with our dog, who got to be off leash the entire time. A few things to note: The cabin is pretty remote, and the road is slow, so definitely stock up on groceries ahead of time! (The kitchen is well equipped, so cooking is easy there.) The road up to the cabin is narrow but in very good shape right now--our AWD Volkswagen ID.4 handled it just fine in mid-September. Also, while at the cabin, we did run into one neighbor passing by in his pickup truck (he was very friendly) and one propane delivery truck, so keep that in mind if you have a dog (like ours) who is a car chaser. (Luckily we could hear the trucks long before we saw the trucks!) Also, we could get intermittent cell service, especially on the hillier parts of the property, if you need to use your phone or check e-mails occasionally while there. But Matt's cabin is a wonderful place for completely ignoring your phone if you can! Finally, Matt is a lovely person, and he's very easy to communicate with. We're very much looking forward to visiting again.

Great location with stunning views. It's definitely up there, and the road initially feels a little sketchy, but don't let that scare you. I was easily able to tow a 30ft trailer up no problem, and Chris came right out to assist and asked if I needed anything! Being so high, be prepared for wind, but if you get a night with no wind, the sunset views are amazing! I would definitely stay at these sites again!

Exploring the lake by SUP & floating tubes was a favorite daily activity, along with simply waking up there, gazing out the windows, reading, playing games, and enjoying the quite & non-digital life for a bit.

We liked this site, it was a gravel road getting here which can be dusty. We were the only campers so it was quiet and we could see the stars. The Outhouse was clean and not smelly. The host greeted us and was friendly and gave us pointers for places to stop in town.
