I had been searching for over 2 years for a property where I could make a difference in the environment and live in the wilderness. I was looking for water on a large tract of land that was remote. In 2017 I found the perfect property and to my dismay it had sold 2 days before I saw the listing. I was shocked because this was the perfect property. In my 2 years of searching I knew exactly what I wanted and this was the property. It had a private lake with fish. A solar cabin with a flush toilet and hot shower. The cabins 8 foot windows faced West for magical sunsets and view of the storms that roll in from the coast. It was beautifully treed with just the right amount of open meadow and forest with Hemlock, Ponderosa pine, and Larch. How could this property be sold? I tried to let it go but thought about it for the next year. After a year and a half had passed and my search continued I came across an advertisement for this magical property, it was up for sale again. I called the real estate agent immediately and found that an offer had been made but the buyers could not commit for 5 more months. I made an offer that day not really knowing how I was going to pull off the money. I knew this property was meant for me. I wrote the owner a letter explaining that I was a land steward and that this land would never be developed. I would be putting it in a land trust where no developers could put up condos. The owner happened to be a environmentally focused human and he ended up selling to me. Come to find out when I had first saw the property sold a year and a half before, that transaction had fallen through. The owner had just taken it off the market for the winter. This is for the adventurous Hipcamper that appreciates the bumpy dirt road. Your Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla won't get you here. Cell service is limited. It is not recommended to arrive after sunset But it is so worth it. Come relax and enjoy the views of the Columbia River and the North Cascades. Plenty of sunshine with epic sunsets, our property is where you come to unwind and soak in the sun when the west side of the Cascades is socked in with clouds and rain. If you want to explore the area, it's about a 10-minute car ride to the Columbia River and 20 minutes to Chelan and all that is offered there. Our favorite activities when we visit are to listen to the birds chirp and take in the surroundings. There are several lava rock piles that speak to the long and volcanic geological history of the area. We also really enjoy walking the dirt road on the ridge. It provides some of the most incredible views in the area. The dirt road section over the ridge can be a little rough and dusty and it's recommended that guests have a medium clearance vehicle, such as a Subaru Outback. However, a guest once drove their Honda Civic down to the site, so it really depends on your comfort level. If in doubt, just ask! We have a security camera on site we use for wildlife sightings and to check the weather. If the idea of having the camera bothers you, feel free to place a blanket or some other type of cover during your stay. We can also turn the camera to only face the entrance. Just let us know. Please respect the surroundings and others' property. There are several other vacation cabins in the area and everyone enjoys their peace and quiet. We provide a privy for guests to use, but be prepared to pack out waste in case it doesn't meet your standards. We try to keep it clean and stocked with TP, but we can only get out to the land every few weeks. If you're looking for peace and tranquility, Sagebrush Hollow is the place for you.

The Paradise Ranch Camp was very good for our overnight stay. The location is super convenient to visit the North Cascades, so easy to find and to park. AND! It has good Wi-Fi. We liked it lot.

Weekend Trip to Nirvana Gardens

We really loved our stay at Matt's cabin, which was so homey and comfortable. The solar cabin was easy to use, and we had plenty of energy for all of our needs. The cabin sits on a very quiet 100 acres, and we had a blast playing around in the lake and running around the property with our dog, who got to be off leash the entire time. A few things to note: The cabin is pretty remote, and the road is slow, so definitely stock up on groceries ahead of time! (The kitchen is well equipped, so cooking is easy there.) The road up to the cabin is narrow but in very good shape right now--our AWD Volkswagen ID.4 handled it just fine in mid-September. Also, while at the cabin, we did run into one neighbor passing by in his pickup truck (he was very friendly) and one propane delivery truck, so keep that in mind if you have a dog (like ours) who is a car chaser. (Luckily we could hear the trucks long before we saw the trucks!) Also, we could get intermittent cell service, especially on the hillier parts of the property, if you need to use your phone or check e-mails occasionally while there. But Matt's cabin is a wonderful place for completely ignoring your phone if you can! Finally, Matt is a lovely person, and he's very easy to communicate with. We're very much looking forward to visiting again.

3 nights at Sasquatch Villa

Great location with stunning views. It's definitely up there, and the road initially feels a little sketchy, but don't let that scare you. I was easily able to tow a 30ft trailer up no problem, and Chris came right out to assist and asked if I needed anything! Being so high, be prepared for wind, but if you get a night with no wind, the sunset views are amazing! I would definitely stay at these sites again!

Weekend Trip to Peterson Lake Ranch

Hauntingly serene and remote location in the basalt columned scablands of Eastern Washington on the unrestored portion of a family ranch in the Crab Creek bottoms. Interesting historic barns and structures with cool vintage retired machinery. It’s a new HipCamp and will likely get some improvements, like signage and some tidying of the immediate grounds and perhaps more detail in the listing. There’s only one hookup spot, so if it’s taken, you’ll be dry camping. But the host was amenable to getting some distance from the other guest while I was there. The price is very reasonable. The region has so few camping opportunities, I’m grateful they opened up this gem. BNSF trains run by a couple times an hour 200 yards away, but no crossings for miles, so no whistles.

Found this place same day and very happy we did!! It is more so set up for rvs but we had no problem setting up our tent to camp. The host was so accomodating and called us before to check in with us and after we left. Super close to Chelan which is what we were looking for. Definitely would stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Elevate Vineyards

Elevate vineyards was such a unique experience for tent camping. Stunning views of Lake Chelan, you get a sunrise view over the mountains and a sunset view over the lake. Remote enough but also not a far drive to the lake. Mike is a welcoming host. The drive up is a couple miles of unpaved road but not too difficult to navigate.

Weekend Trip to Sagebrush Hollow

This place is one of its kind. Perfect place to spend a peaceful weekend. We loved the setup and getting up there will definitely need a 4×4 as a small patch of the route up is a bit rough. The host was great in guiding us ahead with the right route to the place and was helpful with passing on some information way ahead. Cellular signal up there wasn't bad for us. I'll be recommending this place to a few of my jeep friends who a package of offroading and camping.
