Exquisitely beautiful area formed by melting glaciers forming the "Alta Coulee". The campground is situated at the South end of Alta Lake, owned and operated by my grandparents in 1946 until my father took over in 1980 adding commercial Outfitting and Guide services by Sawtooth Outfitters. Covid put a halt on business for a few years, but we have once again opened the gates and are conducting business similar to those of the "Good Ol' Days"! With each new season brings a new opportunity and a small improvement project to continue paving the way into the future of Whistlin' Pine! The lake is 220 acres known to Anglers near and far. Plenty of room for the sunseekers wanting to play in the water on paddle boards, kayaks, jet skis, and water skiing. An 18-hole Golf Course resides at the North end of the lake and white water rafting just a few miles down the hill on the Methow River. For the foodies, Chelan is just 30 miles south and Twisp/Winthrop is 40 miles to the North, also abundant with events, wineries, and shopping. Guided Horseback riding is available onsite, must book in advance. We offer free Wi fi to guests near the office only. Additional information on the website at www.altalakeranch.com.

TS 8 rests quietly under a big weeping willow and a large apricot tree which provides a nice shade cover. Spacious and just yards away from the beach and water's edge. "Marv" is a private dry camp space with easy beach access. It has its own Firepit and picnic table. There is an exclusive fresh water spigot right in the campsite. This particular site can accommodate a Truck with Camper, small pop-up unit, or a tent. 2 night minimum.

This group site sits in amongst the wooden cabins and has a front row view of the beach and steps away from lake access. It can accommodate up to 20 people and 5 vehicles, 2 of which could be small camp trailers or pop-up type vehicles. From this spot you can keep an eye on your boat, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. without the need or hassle to pack them from here to there. There are also paddle boards for rent conveniently located just steps away to the North of the camping area. Freshwater spigot is close by and porta potties conveniently located a short walking distance from this group site.

Tent Site 2 is a big level site, accommodating for one large tent or 2 smaller tents. During the daytime hours the sun shines brightly on this site, so a pop-up shade tent would be ideal to bring along also. Designated fire pit with potable water source available throughout the campground.

"Dolph" Tent Site, named in memory of my grandfather sits on the Southeastern point of the beach facing the North end of the Lake. This tent site (tent not included) features an open sided covered gazebo perfect for pitching a tent inside it or staging your dining area. Nice sizeable flat area outside the gazebo for your use also.

This group site is nestled with in some beautiful big Ponderosa Pine trees and can accommodate up to 20 people and 5 vehicles, 2 of which could be small camp trailers or pop-up type vehicles. There is a freshwater spigot at the entrance of the site. You can access the water edge via a walk path right from the group site to do a little fishing or you can also access the water from the main beach area to drop the paddle board or kayak in. This site contains two separate fire pits to keep everyone warm during the evening hours. Porta Potties conveniently located a short walking distance from the site.

Tent Site 9 is part of the Group Site that can be rented alone or within the group site. It has room to pitch 2 tents and park 1 vehicle. It has a mixture of shade and sun depending on time of day. Surrounded by big ponderosa pine trees and just a short distance to the beach to access the lake for swimming, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. Also, do not forget to book your horseback ride experience in advance!!!

"Sart" cabin is conveniently located in the middle of the campground amongst the Ponderosa Pines, wild service berries, and wild currant berries. Sart takes its name after the memory of one of the first homesteaders to call Alta Lake home. This particular cabin is the halfway point between the beach and the porta potties/showers. Built from a wooden structure with a metal roof and a deck on the front side. Inside the cabin you will find 2 wooden bunkbeds. Bring your bed roll and padding to sleep comfortably at night. Potable water spigot just steps away from the cabin and a fire pit for your enjoyment.

"Diablo" cabin is located on the Northwest corner of the campground. It has a higher deck setting and full-frontal view of the Lake. The large trees provide a nice shade over the top of this cabin. "Diablo" was one of my grandfather's last guest companion horses that my father acquired when he took over the business in the early 80's. Rustic build from a wooden structure with a metal roof and a deck on the front side. Inside the cabin you will find 2 wooden bunkbeds. Bring your bed roll and padding to sleep comfortably at night. Potable water spigot just steps away from the cabin.

Marion

"Marion" cabin is located directly below the "Sart" cabin and roughly 30 yds from the beach and lake edge. It also is surrounded by the Ponderosa Pines, wild service berries, and wild currant berries. Marion cabin is in remembrance of the famous Naturalist Marion Rose who allowed rattlesnakes to live freely inside his dwelling with him. He lived just down the road right before the State Park. Built from a wooden structure with a metal roof and a deck on the front side. Inside the cabin you will find 2 wooden bunkbeds. Bring your bed roll and padding to sleep comfortably at night. Potable water spigot just steps away from the cabin and a fire pit for your enjoyment.

Camp areas are very spacious and well laid out. There are some sites which are being renovated and as the renovation nears completion area will be very sought after. Location on lake 5 out of 5. Has a rustic feel, and host was very nice and accommodating. Would definitely go back.

The sites are more private than originally thought and the lake was wonderful to swim in. I found it was very over priced for what we received. We paid approximately $60 per night and there was no working water so could not shower and our site had about 5 piles of dog poop in it. Back home I get the equivalent type of site for $15 per night. We were not offered a discount for showers not working. Friendly hosts and inviting environment for families.

Whistlin Pines was awesome! Tara is so kind and welcoming. Our friend and I booked campsites that were a bit far from each other and she remedied that and we had the perfect setup. Tara also checked in with us midway to make sure that the large group in the cabins weren't being too rowdy/loud for us at night (they weren't!) which was appreciated. The area itself is super gorgeous and private. Way way better than the state campground. So much room to explore. We loved the beach, and the kids loved paddleboarding. The lake is clean and safe. Even as a lifelong Washingtonian, I was surprised at the amount of wildlife there. Dragonflies, birds, ducks, and many more. So lovely. We will be back!

My girlfriend and I had the most relaxing and wonderful stay at Whistlin' Pines Ranch. The host is lovely, the land is enchanting, the wildlife is thriving, the lake is perfect for boating and we took a canoe all around it. There are basic hot showers available for use which was a lovely surprise. The campfire pits are nice and built up with rocks from the land. The weather was perfect. The stars were so numerous and bright. On our way out we enjoyed hiking a nearby trail and observing the whole area from above. I give it 10 stars, we will be back as soon as possible.

We had a fantastic stay! Tara was a responsive and friendly host who made us feel welcome right away. The campsites were well kept, with plenty of space and privacy. The views were absolutely beautiful, and the lake was perfect for both paddle boarding and swimming—such a peaceful and refreshing spot. We will definitely be back, and I’ll be recommending this place to everyone I know!

From the moment you see the Whistlin Pines sign you know this place is going to be special! Beautiful property, great access to the lake with a cut lil dock and beach area to access the lake. The ducks playing in the water was so fun to hear! Large site with so many options for set up, even two perfect trees for our hammock. Lots of firewood on hand to purchase and horseback riding available. Tara was so nice and came to greet us. Sadly, my little got too scared out camping but we will definitely be back with friends so he's not so scared. 10/10 recommend especially if you have a group!

Had a great weekend. The lake was busy over Labor Day weekend lots of boats and jet skis but still able to enjoy being on our paddle boards. Easy access to the lake from our camp site. Beautiful views of the mountain range.

This is a fantastic place! It is at the opposite end of the lake from the State Park so it is very quiet. The cabins are primitive but serviceable from what I could see. The tent site has easy access to the lake, potable water and the portapottys. The lake is gorgeous in the morning for paddleboarding.

Tara and her daughter were very kind and responsive hosts and the site was well-located, adjacent to the beautiful lake. The main issue we had was with insects - there were so many bees (yellow jackets, I believe) - and they were everywhere, all the time. My son got stung...not fun. We were careful about cleaning up right away and putting away our food, but they did not give us a moment to relax at our site. The mosquitos were also problematic at night (my friend got eaten alive). Tara explained that it's been a rough summer with insects as it wasn't a cold enough winter. This would have been good to know ahead of time as it was impossible to relax.

What an amazing property! Located just past the state park, Tara was an amazing campground host and greeted us upon arrival. All sites are close to the lake and there’s a dock with private access for campers. Loved the sounds from all the wildlife at night. Many birds visited our campsite and even some butterflies. We needed a weekend away from the city and this place was great! Will come stay here again.

I ended up getting upgraded to a different tent site that Tara recommended. It was great! Fairly private and closer to the lake. We had some mildly rowdy neighbors the first night. But they mellowed out the next few nights. I caught some nice trout from the shore and had a great time. Tara is a very kind and gracious host. Will definitely book another stay at the ranch.
