Nearby places of interest including Falling Springs waterfall, Humpback Bridge, Lake Moomaw, Douthat State Park...all within less than an hours drive. We had such a great experience at Swedish Lilac. We had a beautiful site near the river, with a view of the meadow. Our hosts, Fritz and Valerie were so accommodating and gave us some great tips on what to see and do in the Lexington area. We rode our bikes on the Chessie Trail, which was wonderful, shady and level. We also visited Natural Bridge State Park. Also enjoyed playing ping pong in the pavilion and watching fireflies at night. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Weekend Trip to Czar Haus Cabin and RV Sites

Our RV full hook-up site was fairly level with only minor side-to-side and front-to-back leveling needed. Our site was maybe 30 feet from the river - great background noise to enjoy an evening around the firepit, although didn't see any trout. Be aware, the locals cruise the streets and off road trails on noisy quads. This absolutely stopped after dark. As for nearby activities: definitely drive to Helvetia, park and walk the town. If you can visit before the end of June 2026 drop by the authentic swiss store/post office - they are closing the doors at the end of June. Definelty book a reservation at The Hutte for early dinner (they close at 6PM) for traditional swiss/German cuisine. Walk through the restaurant- it's like a local historic museum. Everybody is super friendly so remember to wave. Take it easy on the roads with your rig - they are very winding and hilly.

We had a lovely stay at Swedish Lilac Campground. It was so peaceful and quiet. We camped right next to the river - the kids loved playing in it and we loved the peaceful sound of the flowing water. The shower and bathrooms were nice and clean! And the owners were very friendly and gave us great recommendations of things to do! We hope to go back again!!

I had the place to myself and enjoyed staying cozy on the windy days. Was fun to watch prop planes fly low over the site. The walkability of this location is excellent. Just a very short walk to the path along the river. Keep going and reach exercise stations. A little further along, a wider park with trails and views. Playgrounds in several directions and plenty of places to walk the dog. Spent three nights here at spot 11. Loved it. Very spacious spot with a large grass field beside it that leads to a picnic and ping pong table covered area. There's a road on one side of the campground but that didn't bother us too much. Beyond the creek on the other side are some railroad tracks that, again, didn't really bother us. The bathrooms were clean and the showers were hot. They offer free WiFi that works throughout the campground and free firewood, never seen that before. Owners were friendly and attentive. We will be back!

Thos is a nice quiet spot in the Shenandoah Valley, especially suitable for a place to come back to after a day of hiking or exploring the various caverns or historical places nearby. I have used it twice now as an overnight stop on my way up or down I-81. I camp solo (with my dog) in a small 13 foot camper pulled behind my Jeep. I have stayed both times in the High Knob spot that offers electric and water hook ups, which is great. It is a very uneven spot, and leveling up is difficult alone. The toilet, shower, and outdoor clean up sink are great. Nathan offers.wood and eggs which can be ordered ahead of your arrival. I had to contact him when I arrived both times and he was very attentive. I recommend this spot.

Valerie and Fritz were the most accomadating hosts! They were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The campground sits in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. Bathrooms were clean, electric and water sites fuctioned as needed. The wifi in spot RV-9 was super fast and very reliable. The sites weren't super private but there was plenty of space between sites. Lastly, our dogs loved the fenced in area purpose built for them!

It was a small campground., which we like. The owners were very friendly. It is beside a creek. The railroad tracks are very close, but not a lot of trains. We would go back to it.
