The camp is secluded on 42 acres of woods and pasture land just outside Waynesboro, VA. The Upper South River is spring fed, and it runs diagonally through the property. Day lease fly fishing is also conducted on the property. Though urban, it is very private and the water is always cool.
The campsite has a fire ring, cooking grates, rotisserie, picnic table and a trash can. It is primitive camping with no outhouse (yet). There are 5 campsites on the property, spaced apart nicely to keep it private. Orkney Springs Outfitters provides lessons and guide services onsite and on surrounding waters from this location. Hit the Tye River, South Fork of the Potomac, Cow Pasture and the Jackson River, to name a few.
Excellent access to Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, Blueridge Parkway.

Camp Cove Creek is located in rural Faber, Virginia which is 20 minutes from Charlottesville in beautiful Nelson County. In addition to the many natural features like the Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail and the James River, Nelson is home to Wintergreen Resort and Oakridge Estate and hosts events such as the Lok'n Festival, Camp Jeep, and Overland Expo.
Camp Cove Creek was part of my grandparent's Waveland Farm. Originally situated on over 600 acres, the brick antebellum house across the hill was used as a hospital in the Civil War. The camp used to be a horse and cattle farm as well as a flea market and airport with grass airstrip when my mom owned the land. Our vegetable garden was by the swimming hole. The airstrip still maintained as such in order to offer aviation-accessible camping. It is s the future home of Faber Christmas tree farm and features several notable antique vehicles rusting in peace. Some models are of the same make and model featured on TV and film.
Camp Cove Creek is easily accessible via Rt 29 and Rt 6 east (Irish Road). Our property sits at the confluence of Bear and Cove Creeks where wading/hiking/tubing is permitted and encouraged (with water shoes). We are continually trying to improve the site by removing old barbed wire, poison ivy, roadside trash, and invasive plant species in addition to planting Christmas Trees, raising 3 kids, and working 2 full time jobs so please forgive our works in progress!
This is your 30-acre camping playground! Licensed off-road vehicles, ADV and Dual-sport motorcycles, horses, personal electric vehicles and EVEN PRIVATE PLANES are welcomed! Camp anywhere along it or the creeks bordering it. We encourage walking the route first as it has intentionally been left primitive to provide more of an authentic and fun getaway adventure. Overlanding does tend to scratch paint so enter at your own risk! There is a Volleyball Net and Horseshoe set for use as well.
Nearby in the soapstone mining town of Schuyler you can visit the home place of Earl Hamner, best known for his creation of The Waltons TV show. While you're there check out the Waltons Mountain Museum, which happens to be my old elementary school and my parent's former high school. The Rockfish River dam and quarry gardens are really cool too!

Spend a quiet weekend enjoying the peaceful pastures of our farmette. We have friendly cows, mini goats, chickens, a horse, a kitty, a farm dog, and are frequented by deer in the morning and evening. If you are lucky, you may spot the great blue heron, Mr. Todd Fox, or the bald eagle pair fly over. The stars are incredible here on a clear night.
Our campsite is a peaceful and secluded spot nestled on a small hilltop overlooking our Big Red Barn and a wilder wooded area. There is excellent bird watching. The campsite is 100 yards from the parking spot in front of our barn. There is a large wooden picnic table and a fire pit.

It's a great example of a non corporate campground. It's a nice small size. It's definitely a place you could park and spend some time. the river or creek running behind makes. For a pleasant backdrop, there's access to go down and explore it. If you want, there's a large amphitheater, the bathhouses were clean and accessible. We would definitely book here again.

Everything was better than listed. My cousin and I had no issues getting our motorcycles to the camp site location. Bryce welcomed us with great generosity and made sure we were doing well. I enjoyed being able to relax by the fire pit and swap stories with my cousin.

Thank you for a great week at Swedish Lilac Campground! Site 15 was great! We were led to our site and Fritz made sure we were happy with our set up. We were able to pull our camper in front of the creek (instead of backing in to the space) that runs there and listen to the water while we burned a fire and ate dinner, Just beautiful! The bathrooms are spotless and the campgrounds are very clean, he left us firewood and was very friendly! They collect your trash and offer more wood. They have a dump station too.

What a hidden gem! The site was huge, level and well shaded majority of the day. The hammock is a perfect spot for enjoying the spectacular view. The dart board is a nice touch for some entertainment. Jeff was a perfect host. He was welcoming and offered some suggestions for local attractions. He made himself available for any problems (which we had none of) but was not all imposing. Highly recommended this camp spot!

Weekend Trip to South River Camp
This is what your wife means when she says she wants to go “camping”. enough roughage, but with the comfort of a queen bed and hot running water. although the streets did have traffic it wasn’t a deal breaker for us & we are already looking at coming back! just get past the fear people can see you bc they can’t it’s just the scary movies you grew up watching haunting you.
Brought canned goods and hot dogs that we were able to make in the fire there! Napped in the hammock, but we didn’t get in the river but you can!
ALSO boats do float the river so keep in mind when keeping the tent open …if you know what i mean.

This is by far the best camping spot I’ve been to!! The site was gorgeous with lots of space to for our tent and a comfortable camp fire. The host was beyond generous, making it hard for us to leave the next morning. The farm animals are friendly and the host showed us around. I was very pleased with our whole experience and will be returning to this spot again in the future! Thank you so much for such a lovely time!

My bestest bud, Diesel (9 ye old Rottie) and I had the BEST stay here. We had to book same day due to an issue with another site, Kim and Bobby were so accommodating. The bus is so beautifully done and blew away any expectations that I had... so incredibly welldone.. that we didn't want to leave. They have most anything you could possibly need (you just need your own cooking supplies.. they have a grill and a stove inside)! They were also very receptive to suggestions. We absolutely recommend this spot for a comfortable and easy stay. We would undoubtedly stay again!!

This farm was a perfect location- feels like youre out in the country but you’re a stone’s throw from civilization. We loved our stay and it was exactly what we were looking for. Only downside was we were unable to use the bathroom because it was locked despite being vacant. Would definitely stay here again.
